you can`t survive! the man who´s showed in the video on the left a few hours later, was definitely NOT the man, which was sucked in into the intake of the harrier!
it was a lie from the military to hide the accident.
whatch all the burning parts, flying out the from the engine. what do you think is it, if the man was supposed not to come into the engine???
Other deck crews have not been so lucky. Anyone remember the F-8 Migmaster? Also dubbed "The People Eater" by deck crews. Also, the USS Hornet had most amount of aircraft accidents with crews.
Ok , this is no hoak. I was there as a troubleshooter for VA-65. The guy crawled out of the front of the intake after the engines were shut down. We had no idea that he had been sucked in until AFTER he crawled out and colapsed onto the flight deck.
I thought the engine had internally failed but afterwards saw him sitting on the deck. FYI the frist row of blades in an A-6E engine are stators (stationary) not rotors (turning) that along with the bullet (cone) stopped him from being serriously injured. This happened around 3am and it was much darker in real life than this video portraies.
You are correct. He survived. His float coat got stuck on the engine intake pitot tube. The sparks you saw flying out the back of the engine were caused by his cranial (helmet) which FODed out the engine.
My guess -unless this IS a hoax, is that the fragile fans (and they are fragile front on) of the engine would have shattered on impact and been blown out the back along with the guy.
you cant even fit a hand in between one of those blades they're so close together... and this is not the same as a commercial plane. this is a jet turbine. Commercial planes use turbo fans. In this jet's intake, there was probably not enough room for him to be sucked in further anyways.

The engine is empty, isn't it? I mean no fans inside, otherwise the guy would have been ground to pieces.

go do some research numb nuts. a jet engine has loads of blades.
gavlang 5 years ago
Like the ones in commercial planes? Then how come he survived? The blades should have chopped him.

Sucked in further? What can be further than been expelled from the rear end of the jet engine?

There are scram and ram jet engines, which have no blades.
This plane looks like a harrier.
