I have been missing out for years on an incredible song.

  • Great song. Something Scott Walker-ish about it.

  • R.I.P LUKE KELLY R.I.P <3<3

  • Played At My Baby Bothers Funeral, Such A Lovely Song x

  • People need to understand that children with special needs or a disability don't have an illness, so there is not always a cure & it's not contagious. They only want what we all want, to be accepted. 99.999% of you probably won't copy and paste this. It's Special Education week, and this is in honor of all the kids who need a little extra help & understanding. THANK YOU

  • This man is a legend

    RIP Luke Kelly

  • why don't you try to concentrate on the song and keep politics off this topic?

  • @jordanviach Thanks i agree totally its about the song ,so beautifull ,god bless .

  • I can play this on guitar.

  • What is this tosh €6.8m doing taged on to this classic shame on you

  • Ah yes it's always a shame to highlight truth and the reality of immigration into Ireland and how this country's culture and people will be changed like London in quite a short time, to be supplanted by African, Pakistani, Indian cultures and peoples. Shame on you for not defending Irish culture, heritage and the Irish people.

If you have a problem with truth take it up with the newspapers these facts came from.

  • Whatever such shit maybe you run for office. Dont talk about immigration as you cant seem to factor in the amount of Irish people that have emmigrated over the years to differant counntries and had to put up with small minded attatudes like yours. Keep Ireland for Irish fuck off we are not in the dark ages.

  • mrtubs

WRONG-I have had that argument b4. Irish who went to U.S, did they get hand-outs from the state, were they entitled to healthcare...no, 1 word from them and the U.S gov would kick them out, if they were illegal. They had to work hard and make it on their own, NO STATE BENEFITS.

Britain owes us plenty, the Irish who went to Oz were sent in prison ships-it wasn't a choice. Those who go now get a work visa and then must piss off home.

We owe nothing to Africa, Pakistan or India etc

  • ok adolf

  • mrtubs

This is not about small mindedness, this is about this state being returned to the dark ages cause we can't even look after our own, nevermind letting in 100's of 1000's of foreigners. Are you going to allow homeless foreigners in to your house and feed them until you have nothing left? What happens then, won't you be homeless yourself then, how can you help anybody then?

You're not-thinking it thru-it will cost everyone in years to come, remember this.

  • one could point out the fact that less than 100 years ago, north americans felt the same way about irish immigrants. tisk tisk me laddy.

  • @waaeaa whats the fuck wrong with you you wanker, let normal people enjoy lukes singings you prick so fuck off and leave this site alone you dickead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @waaeaa, isn't it great that debate is flagged as spam? those who claim to love free speech, unless of course it goes against their pinko liberal guilt ridden minds. Scorn not their simplicity, but rather try to love them all the more.

  • @lambot3g

Welcome to soviet marxist Ireland. Where we have not enough confidence in ourselves and our heritage but we must mimic and ape the continent and America in an attempt to make the country 'look' more cosmopolitan. We feel we are backwards if the country is homogenous.

Only when we look like Detroit will we feel like we are a grown-up nation. Sadly U.S is 15-20yrs ahead in trends and the results. They see the folly of the 'multicultural' mess they are in.

  • Respond to this video... Mr. Tubbs, do you hate free speech that much to claim it has no place on a public forum? Must you flag as spam any intelligent person who disagrees with living our lives based on liberal guilt. It is well and good that you believe as you do, George Sorros would be proud, but must you attack those of us who believe as we do? Flagging an intelligent post as spam is cowardice. We promise to scorn not your simplicity in future posts. Just use your words please.

  • @lambot3g It is a song written by a man about his mentaly challenged son. Perhaps manner's would dictate you move your debate elsewhere.

  • i was playing Sinead's version, and everybody said this was better. Well, I think they are BOTH great!

  • this man right here stayed with my grandad in manchester years ago ,,,he drank with me granda and all ,,,the chap was a genius ,,,love the dubliners

  • oooh any guitar tab ?

  • Of all the Irish artists around Luke had the best diction while singing. A terrible loss.

  • @colinmurphy70 Yep Great talent that wasn't given the credit he deserved in the music community

  • I dont think I have ever heard anyone else interpret this song as good as the late Luke Kelly.A fabulous baladeer and a sad loss. Was lucky enough to meet him once when I started work in Dublin back in 1983.

  • reminds me of my unfountiate friend. we all love him so much

  • Ive 3 austistic cousins 2 have blonde hair too lol well, anyway, i can fully understand every aspect of this song, and im sure alot of us know an austistic person and this song really helps you connect and understand it from a parents and the austistic person point of view.

  • Well, I respect your interpretation of the song, but it's not about autism. Every source I've found so far except for some comments here says that the song is about Phil Coulter's son who was born with down syndrome. Down syndrome is something completely different than autism.

  • Yes i understand that, but both have the exact same effects on the parents, and i think down syndrome isent that bad in most case's because they have an awarness and can have a more ''intelligent'' conversation. However, my cousin (who vary in severity), 1 cant acknoledge your presence, and his brother isent too bad. And then the other one, my other uncle, is 19 and has just learned how to make his own food. Downsyndrome can be ''better'' in some cases, they still have alot of abilities.

  • My cousin's boyfriend told me to listen to this. I did it, rather reluctantly, to comment on it, but got a shiver down my back when i heard it

So much emotion in that voice

  • I bow 2 ur superior knowledge. I'll listen n get back. I b'lieve coulter has written some brilliant lyrics n dont mean to demean him. maybe I'm judging everybody on luke kelly's ability

  • I always believed that Phil Coulter wether singing or playing his songs just couldn't put across emotion. Just listening to Luke Kelly I know Im right

  • If you listen to Phil's recitation of "The Man from God Knows Where" you will find plenty of emotion. That being said, nobody can touch Luke a sa singer, in my humble opinion. Once again, thank you Kellyoneill for all of the great music you have posted.

  • My Pleasure mate :)

  • this doesn't sound sound anywhere near as good as the other one you have

  • I love both versions, but my fave would have to be the performer verson, its amazing.

  • do you have that one? I was talking about the one where he's sitting with a bunch of mates.

  • yeah, i'll send it in a Pm.

  • cool

  • great song. bws 4life

  • my cousin is autsitic and this song even has his description, its very personal for me' because i understand every bit of this song so much, it really strikes a chord.

  • theres One thing about the simple children is that They are made soely for one thing and that is to love they have a great deal of it and that makes them so beautiful

  • I love the raw masculinity in Luke Kelly's voice. We just don't hear guys like that anymore.

  • My god this is the so excellent there is no comparison Deaglan

  • Rock On Luke, we miss ya bud. Gone 2 soon.

  • This is beautiful.Thank You for sharing it with us.We feel that people who opt to not understand these things are even more handicapped than anyone.

  • fuckin brilliant.cry my eyes out but that just means its powerful song

  • I also have a delightful son who has Down syndrome, and I've looked for Luke Kelly singing this song for years. I love Luke Kelly and THANK YOU so much for sharing this great rendition!!
