  • I just won one of this on eBay for 130 :)

  • fz45 has a lot of noise and dark images in low light /high zoom focal lengths.

  • En español tambien podria estar...

  • is there flash on that thing? cause i recently bought it, and I don't know how to open the flash!

  • @kierankoolchan yep hteres a flash but im not sure how he opened it

  • i'm looking for a good Bridge Camera for taking good photos and hd video was looking at the FUJI HS10 anyone no anything about it? or could anyone recommend a good Bridge Camera??? Thanks:):)

  • @markcaff

i am in exactly the same situation and i am looking beetween the fuji hs10 and this one. i have seen a few video shots on the fujifilm and the audio quality is poor. this guy said this inbuilt was really good so i think i am going to get this one. although the fujifilm looks like a really good camera and is highly rated so :P

  • Hey there I have been looking for a decent bridge camera to buy to get into photography and am considering taking a course would this camera do the job? I have a budget of around £250 if you could suggest anything else that is superior please let me know

  • @MarkDzzzz Yeah the Panasonic Lumix FZ45. Its 14.1MP, 24x optical zoom. Basically an upgrade to this, if you look hard enough you can find it for £220.

  • I have one question, which mode do u use for making indoor photos, and which one do u use when u have a lot of details on photo? :)

  • merry christmas (:

  • COMET £199 CHRISTMAS SALE!!!! ;D S HAPPY WITH THIS CAMERA.

  • i need ur help ....can i contact u somehow...... facebook maybe? ....or messenger ...?

  • So does it mean, you can only record 30mins on that one card? or only 30mins clips, i.e so i could record as many times as i want as long its no longer than 30mins?

  • @minitrundle i was wondering same thing. i want it really bad, and i`m gonna use it for video shooting and editing as well. hope to see an answer soon :)

  • This is an amazing camera, i really recommend it, actually there is a really good price on amazon for it something like £205

  • basic question....I have a mac snow leopard and I cannot get it to recognise the camera..I have loaded the cd. I open iphoto..plug into comp and to camera....nothing ! any ideas please...thanks...kb

  • @Poemsapennyeach My colleague used this camera on my MBP with Snow Leopard, that's why I ended up buying the new FZ40. I didn't even load anything off the CD.

  • Sorry if this has been asked before but when you say you can only record upto 30 minutes does this mean you can record 30 minutes, stop recording, then record another 30 minutes ???

  • @StackedDecks

Not sure, but the FZ35 is the same camera, only you can film for as long as you want

  • Hey Lawrence. Do you know if there is a Panasonic Lumox FZ38 remote switch for this camera? Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • 60 Sec, no 30. 60!

  • Regarding the time restriction shooting video- I've an FZ-18, the 8Mp ancestor of this from three years ago and still a fine camera in my humble. I noticed that although it says you can't shoot video for more than 19 and a bit minutes it will actually go on for longer.

It won' t just fill your SD card up, it stops after about 25 minutes IIRC, but have you tried just leaving it recording?

  • What is the difference between the Lumix FZ35 and the 38?

  • @milimltn the difference is the FZ38 will only record for 29 minutes 59 seconds, because in the UK anything that shoots more than 30 minutes of video has a camcorder tax on it, besides that they are identical cameras in every way.

  • Just wanna say great video but I have a question. I can't decide whether to buy the Nikon Coolpix P100 or the Panasonic Lumix FZ45 (almost exactly the same as the FZ38). Overall what camera would you say to go with? I'm looking mainly for good image quality but the Nikon has some really good features.

    Thanks,

    - Jamie

  • is it true that there is a slight dessaturation at higher than 100 iso?

  • great review mate. thanks

  • which sdhc do you use?

  • Hi, great video, helps a lot. It's been a while since you've posted it so I wonder did you manage to find some way to put FZ-35 software into this samera?

  • I heard the Shutter Response time is Quite Good on this Camera.. Would you confirm it please?

How long or Quick [preferably] does it take to actually capture the Image after you Press the Shutter Button?

  • Can you attach lenses and filters with an adapter?

  • i am thinking of getting this camera for christmas, would you advise this camera. i am 14 and film skateboarding and want a camera with a good video quality and istant pictures

  • kaise to atak atak ke bol raha hai!!

means way speaking is not very clear!!

  • not the best idea to describe the mic as "cracking" because is has 2 meanings lol

  • hmm maybe i should switch to pany. it'll be at least a few more years before canon stops crippling it's cameras.

  • Is 9megapixel the maximum resolution the camera can take in 16:9 aspect ratio?

What happens if you change the aspect ratio whilist in auto mode?

  • Thanks for this. I have gotten the FZ35. I like it OK. The RAW capture is not bad. But the software that comes with it could be better. But I have a few idea as far as that goes.

I discovered the burst mode the other day. Too bad that it cuts the res down to 3 MP. But, for the price this is a good camera.

The lens if great. Very sharp. True to the Leica name.

  • This Camera can do EVERYTHING inc HD Video and zoom out to 486mm!! (no lenses to change)

  • Hope by now you have discovered that you don't need to remove the battery to recharge - just plug in mains socket below HDMI connection......

  • hello there>> can anybody suggest me that which DSLR is to buy for the beginner as i m new in this and dont have much idea about SLR's. i m planning for sony A250. Nikon D3000. but i found FZ38 good as well. can anybody suggest that sony a250 or FZ38?

  • Thanks for the great video! I was wondering, if you still remember, how fast the loading times are when reviewing the pictures and videos you've already taken in the camera? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi! I'm wondering if you're able to take pictures while it's filming in movie mode. Also, do you find the screen to a problem because you're not able to move or tilt it? Are you able to see the screen well in the sunlight?

  • @conks13 jpeg

  • does anyone recommend me this camera? i'm waiting for the fz 100, but that camera migh be very expensive:S..

  • whats the video format for this?

  • In relation to the 30 minute video 'limit', is this a limit per single recorded video, limit per memory card, or total video limit, ever? I'm confused.

  • @cirymarr How I understand it is, you can't record more than 30 minutes at a time. So, if you were recording things, you'd have to stop at 30 minutes, and start recording again. So, unless you wanna record like, a whole concert, or something, it shouldn't be a problem. If you were making a movie/short film, you'd film it in scenes and clips anyway, and edit them. :)

  • only 30 mins recording!!

oh! so, I guess I wont be buying this.. -.-

  • @Tonnerrrrr yes but it comes back again and again and again, there is not limit in recording, unless you run out of memory, once the 30 minitues pass you simply hit the record shutter button again until your memory card runs out!!

  • @vwlover94 ohhh!!! That's great!! :D

I shall be buying it then! :)

It's cause I wana take some video's at concerts & everything. ahah!

    Thanks! :)

  • @Tonnerrrrr why would you want to record for more than 30mins in the one go? Most sdhc cards would run out of memory not long after that.

  • @PeteTheElit3 i didnt say that did i.

  • @Tonnerrrrr You were either objecting or being a smartass.

  • Can you take pictures while recording a video simultaneously?

  • @KahanDemirkol

    no, you cant

  • can you put different lenses on this?

  • @Stevsta1213

you can attach other lenses and filters. but you need an adapter.

  • Does this camera have the noise although only at low ISO (800)? Thanks ,... very complete explaination on this video !!

  • where is the USB-port??? thanks

  • how fast can you take a picture with it?

  • Super video thanks very much.

  • Does it record in 1080p or 720p HD?! Thanks!!

  • @TheLiLD95

    720p with stereo tone

  • can you zoom while recording video?

  • @TheMarabouStork

of course you can. you also can adjust the focus manually

  • no u can longer as 30 second filmed i have tihs cam greetings from germany

  • Can you take still shots simultaneously while you are recording a video??

  • i think you mean 32GB of SDHC not 32MB ? (4:00) cheers, matt

  • im really confused... I NEED HELP REAL BAD!! it's either the FZ38 or the TZ8

  • @JojoTheLucky

FZ38: better and more zoom, way better under bad light conditions, better flash, stereo tone while recording, RAW format

TZ8: no stereo tone, videos limited to 15 minutes and no avchd (needs a lot of space).

i had the same decision to make. i decided for the fz38

  • good review mate i just bought one of these on ebay and i feel more reassured about my decision now

  • Very informative video. Thanx for sharing your expert knowledge.

  • How can I make the microphone more louder because for me it does not seem like it picks up enough sound.

  • Great review <3 now time fora stupid question.. do you think this camera is light enough to hold in one hand, ie to take pictures of yourself? Would appreciate anyone's help on this pretty pretty please!

  • Cool video. I've got a question: Can you use zoom during recording a video?

  • @hammondooo Yes you can - the only, small, downsides are that you will hear the zoom motor on your recordings and auto-focus can apparently be annoying - focusing and re-focusing throughout .

  • @TheAkashdeepJabandar Well not a problem for me...Mine will arrive around 29 July. I hope it will be great digital camera.

  • How are the low-light conditions specifically indoors?

  • Did you say its maximum capacity was 32GB of SDHC? i couldnt quite catch it , i thought you said 30MB, which is obviously not right!

  • @ProTharan yes, he did. 32 gb is the largest card that can be put in this camera =) 30mb is the internal memory of the camera.

  • @leuwenharty ha tight oh , Thank You :)

  • @leuwenharty ahhh right oh , Thank you for that! I've ordered it and it should be in the post any second , so i think i might invest in a big-ass SD card :L Thanks!

  • @ProTharan your welcome ;) when you received yours, could you tell me what you think about it? cause im also thinkin about buyins this camera... =)

  • @leuwenharty yeah sure , im sure its not going to disappoint , should only be a matter of hours now!!

  • @ProTharan ah cool, thanx ;) lets hope those hours will be minutes xDD

  • Hey guys - My 16th birthday is coming up and I'm torn between two cameras. I dunno wether to get...

    •This (DMC-FZ38) or

    •Fujifilm S2500

Any ideas as to which is better? - Quality, features, design, ease of use etc.

    Cheers. :)

  • no hotshoe rules it out for me; ideal bridge camera would have larger sensor and fewer MP.

  • @jesoby you are not gonna get a much bigger sensor in a bridge camera, I think you should look into getting a dslr.

  • Has it a multi-shot mode? Like you focus once, and keep pressing the button.

  • Can you make a short movie about the FZ-38 burst capability ?

  • Is the audio recording good enough at alot of volume?

Like at a concert, can you still hear every instrument or is it all rubish? (sure it won't be perfect but is it good enough)

  • Can you post a video of you taking pictures with it! I just need to find out what the shutter sound is like.

    Cheers

  • It is worth it to upgrade to the fz38, if you already own the fz28 ?

    thanks

  • so u can only "draw" with the lights for 30 seconds?

  • Can you take those long exposure pictures where you have the fireworks and car lights lines on the picture? I mean, what's the longest exposure time I get with this camera? TIA.

  • @ThePariparoba yes, you can take a maximum of 30 seconds.

  • @nerdishcouk 60 seconds actually

  • @nerdishcouk you can do 60 seconds in "starry sky" scene mode or in manual (M) mode

  • @nerdishcouk can you tell me about the Depth of feild? Please

  • @nerdishcouk how do you do long exposure pics?

  • @nerdishcouk actually it's 60 seconds...

  • @nerdishcouk

    60

  • @nerdishcouk the maximum is 60 seconds

  • @nerdishcouk 30 sec ?! wow

  • @ThePariparoba no the athour is wrong you can take up to one minute or 60s on the exposure and open the aperture to f5.0 and point it at traffic from a roof while the camera is mounted in the tripod, and bam you get the blur and buildings being sharp effect, also i would recommend using manual mode for astrophotography and set the long time exposure to 30 sec and iso of 800 and point it at a really dark sky with a crap load of stars and you might just get our own milky way :)

  • @vwlover94 Is there a lot of noise at 800ISO?

  • @mouzata yes there is but only use iso 800 through 1600 only when using at astronomy dark places such as mountains and deserts, ummm for the iso 800 at day time its to high and even for night time scenerys such as beach park and city its to high , so if its at night and your in the city and you put iso 800 its too dam noisy so i would recommend (at night time) that you put iso at 400 or 200 and exposure to 6 seconds and at DAY TIME YOU PUT THE ISO AT 100 OR 160 and there you have it :)

  • @ThePariparoba

Actually it has 60 secs of max exposure.

  • hey i just bought a panasonic lumix fz38 and i wandering if you can tell me how to change my recording quality because it wont let me at the moment it is on qvga and it jsut wont let me change it i was wandering ifyou can message me back with help thx.

  • it is so cool that you can do so many things in the moviemode..

  • from this video i shall be purchasing this camera :)

  • @kellawayay glad you liked the video :) thanks

  • @nerdishcouk

Hi, this is a great video :)

What is photo quality like at full zoom, what do you think about 18x optical zoom?

  • @matt10cool The quality is rather good at full zoom, both shooting images and video.

  • Hi There,

Quick question, just wanted to make clear what you meant by the 30 min limit. So you can't have more than 30 mins (video footage) on the sdcard? or does it mean you can have more but each video you take cant go over 30 mins?

Many thanks indeed, sry if im being dumb hehe

  • @arobson131 you can shoot 30 minutes, then if you have enough memory, a further 30 minutes (well, its actually 29mins and 59secs) its just a software limit.

  • @nerdishcouk Wait why do I get 43 minutes max? I have 16gb.

  • @Avataryoutuification are you in europe?

  • @thelollestloller The UK.

  • when will the FZ series create a 1080p version? are there any rumors of FZ35/38 successor?

  • hi i liked your review of this camera, thinking on the half hour max video, i bought a FZ35, it will record to the card max but only in NTSC and it is not changeable on the 35. i edit with Magix Pro X, which takes in any file system and converts it if you want.

i would say to anyone in UK buy the 38 to save complications, thanks Ben.

  • Bought this camera, its great.

does this camera have additional accessories, (Lens adapter, telephoto lens, closeup lens or filter lens) that are compatible to this camera? I just wanted to make sure, cause on the panasonic site, under this model camera, they have lens for it, but says selected cameras, is it for the fz35/38?

  • I Cant seem to find this camera in stores anywhere. Do you know where i could go buy it at????

  • @SuperSammykins

same . i say just buy it online, thats what i did

i could find all its competitors like the sx20 is at like best buy and target and stuff but ive never seen the fz :[

  • thanks for the review. How did you find the focus lag and shutter lag on this camera?

  • is there a manual focus option with this camera?

  • Yes. It has a manual focus.

  • Does somebody know when the next camera

from the FZ series is about to come out?

  • I've put my Lumix FZ50 for sale and I came across a girl looking for a second hand FZ38. I offered her my camera with quite a set of accessories at a much lower price (as the model is much older then the one she's looking for) but I'm not quite sure if it would be a good deal for her; both cameras have advantages and disadvantages compared to each other, she wants to take pictures mainly of planes in the sky. Which model is better for the purpose?

  • Can you change the lense?

  • nope

  • Video--BRILLIANT!!!!!

But I'd like to know; Is the FZ38 capable of "Remote Function" whether with a Cable or Otherwise? I don't seem to find it anywhere. Any one's advise? Thanks.

  • No, no remote function im afraid.

  • @nerdishcouk

Shame that is for such a Fine Camera not to have that Feature.

Thank You very much for Your help anyway.

  • What memory card you recommend for this camera ?

  • @kokobasha7778 for shooting images, any SD card would do, but if you are going to be shooting AVCHD Video, i suggest a Sandisk Video HD Card, as it will need a better transfer rate than a normal card due to the large file size of the HD video.

  • Thanks

  • Thank you

  • Bigger the better. 8GB will do fine..

  • I've heard of filters that work with this, where do they go? Onthe zoomed out tip of the lens? Can you discuss and show these accessories for the camera?

Also, the HDMI cable included (accessory question again) was it the true hdmi cable (hdmi mini to hdmi standard) or was it the conversion - hdmi to composite/rca?)

    thanks.

  • Hey Lawrence

How are you getting on with the Lumix FZ38? I was wondering if you were going to mabe do a slide show or something? Maybe you could say how you took the pictures as u show us, like a presentation etc maybe?

    That would be cool

    Cheers mate

    Tom

  • Hey Lawrence.

How you getting on with the Lumix FZ38?

Are you going to put up a slide show or give a presentation maybe on how you took the pictures with the FZ38 etc?

    That would be awesome

    cheers

    Tom

  • The video feature had stop/start option? i mean if you can stop and start again the same video file instead of create another file when you stop the video being recorded. I have the lumix FZ28 but i want make upgrade if this camera can do that.

  • you should have shown us taking pictures in this video and the slipping through all photo's! i like the camera very much though :-)

  • Hello there

Do you mind me asking; after reading the manuals, I still can't find the anti jog button. Can you possibly let me know where that is?

    Cheers

  • Just guessing here, but to flash the fireware, you'll probably have to wait untill the FX35 has an update, or elese it will think it's the same thing as what is on the camera. Make sence?

  • any improvement on the (shot to shot) shutter lag delay?

thats my main issue with p&s.. (fast) candid moments difficult to get.

how i wish the shot to shot lag time is like dslrs or at least, close to its performance.

  • I have this camera, I'm learning how to use it and so far, so good. Except... would you mind telling me what am I supposed to do to upload videos on youtube with a reasonably good quality. The videos look pretty good, but when I upload them here, they look terrible, like they were made with a cell phone camera or something.

  • Is it good at taking pictures when objects move like a basketball game Please reply

  • Interesting exposure of camera

    Panasonic, nice view.Greetings.

  • Does it have image stabilization

  • I think the video option can be worked around but what could be better than to record in 720p, shame its not full hd but on a 50" screen the 720p definition is quite good.

  • iso rating has no effect in video mode

  • Why is there the option to change it then? and why is the video more grainy at ISO 800 than 400?
