  • ..........JETHRO TULL..1969...in my teensroom..with my new pic up stereo....to cry you a song...dreams of beeing in the rockscen...but I was just a kid of 15....and Jethro tull was my first ecperience with real rock music after the Beatles...that was my sisters choise....keept them in my heart since then....love there unique sound..JETHRO TULL..RESPECT..

  • I saw them in a town in Kentucky (hate to mention caus I now live there again) but the crowd was expecting a rock and roll show. They were screaming " where's Jethro Tull" Ian Anderson was totally amazed at the response and if you have ever been to their concerts it was a sort of sit down, shut up and listen. I was mortified and kept yelling sit the frig down and listen to these guys! JT was a classical music class for the unwashed! Loved it!

  • Seen him in concert long ago (Fox Theatre)......... he went off on us Americans for wearing blue jeans to the thee-ah-ter.

Never wore a pair of jeans since then...... lol.

  • .... I just went walking down Pacific coast Hwy in Sunset Bch, CA ..Flying so high .... 'walkin through 'sunset town to cry you a song' the cops here don't care as this is a premium 'fruits and nuts' area ..but w/$.....-:)

  • 3 people can't even cry anymore because they died long ago..

  • I will never forget the first time I heard this song on WNOX-AM radio out of Knoxville,TN late at night with a DJ who added an effect to his voice that made him sound like the wizard of OZ (the scary sound before the curtain was opened) like "I AM OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL...WHO ARE YOU? kind of scary. I burned the artist's name into my memory so that one hopeful day I would get to buy the album or 8-track. I have always been a fan.

  • Best song ever!

  • Jethro Tull is a cornerstone in the musical universe - capable of balls on rock n' roll and a haunting beauty that squeezes the heart. Bloody brilliant.

  • There are truly not enough deliriously desciptive words in the english language to describe how many angles Tull Music hits you from! The huge catalog of tunes will take you on more trips than you've lived in all your reincarnated lives!

  • As I sit here jamming to this tune,it dawned on me that my all time favorite bands come out of the same place. The Beatles,The Who,Genesis,Yes,Pink Floyd,The Kinks,David Bowie,Led Zeppelin,Elton John,ELO,Rolling Stones,Queen, etc. etc. etc..... Thanks England for all the great bands.

  • @SouthJerseyGuy1 ...I agree be the US has had a few... But after all English is their native, native toungue, our inherited, but their music, all you have named and more stands on it's own...-:)

  • waoooh !!! jethro tull... i love this song =)

  • Yee gods!! What a brilliant track!! Old but like a good Whisky, it improves with age!

  • I've always enjoyed the imagery of the lyrics as well as the guitar chorus...with guitar leads interwoven. A very complex tune, but not overdone.

Many Tull songs sound to me like they're done in a 'round'-hypnotizing!

My favorite JT tune. Thanks for posting!

  • best sound quality of any of the Cry You A Song posts on YouTube! cheerio!!!! the song kicks much ass!!!

  • Since that song I`ve been TULL Fan!!!

  • Great Post. First album I ever owned. Saw them live at Radio City. Bring back old time rock.

  • The first picture I posted on the internet was Jethro Tull...

  • This is the song I listen to when I don't have enough cigarettes, too many skulls, and just enough bat for the day

  • The combination of 18th century style rocked out music and it's perfectly trippin' lyrics, fit the late 60's early '70s like almost no other.music! Another example of the 'TOP 'O The Line' catalog of Jethro Tull.

  • One of my all time favorite Tull songs!

  • this was, benefit, stand up, aqualung, thick as a brick, were all sell out arena concerts in detroit back in the day. not underated just a little forgotten.

  • Benefit has the best guitar hooks out of all JT albums

  • this song is............TULL..........period

  • nice one - just read on Wiki that it is an example of psychedelia

  • THIS SONG HAS THAT GREAT 60'S PSYCHIDELIC FEEL TO IT .. I LOVE IT ...THANKS FOR PUTTING IT UP

  • Good stuff, Maynard!

  • Was this from their "Benefit" album?

  • Think so, yes ;)

  • I agree with turbogaleb. How great, how perfect, how Tull. (Even better Live--see Tampa show) :)

  • I thought this song was about Ian flying home into Heathrow, then having to transfer via taxi to Gatwick for flights to Edinbourough...and that that entails for Ian.

  • Flying so high ....

  • Awesome video

  • how great, how perfect, how Tull!!!

  • This is a great example of how Jethro Tull sets a mood. Just great! Timeless!!!

  • WTF

  • This song is so great! Jethro Tull is ridiculously underrated.

  • AMEN!

  • Yes. And it seems I am finding this out lately as I've been listening to Benefit a lot lately, (more than I did in the day). They seem to be a band whose music as aged very well.

  • @danielweber2009 lots of great old bands are :S

  • @danielweber2009 Too right man!

  • smokers are doing their "patriotic duty" by paying those taxes

  • hahahahahaha oh god

  • and metallica wonder why tull stole their grammy, listen to metallica era forgiven/nothing else matters they sounded like the Benefit era of tull.

  • nonetheless... this is NOT metal and the grammy was for best metal act :P

  • @Ayrshirenutter on top of that the grammy nominated from metallica was and justice for all... not black album.

  • Listen to this song, then listen to Metallica's 'Fixxer' ;)

  • we WANT to smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hi rod. looks like with obamas policies, that would be an armored truck full of cartons.

  • Thanks to Obama, everybody in America will have free health care, just like the Europeans, Canadians, Israeiis, and the Japanese.

Now you can smoke all you want.

    Cheers!

  • Good thought process. But what about getting hauled in jail for smoking a doobie. It happened to me in the state of Virginia. I grew up in India with a right to buy and smoke the good stuff. Now they talk about free country USA. It is all bogus freedom concept. The concept in USA is " talk to my lawyer".

Moving on to Costa Rica to enjoy relatively free lifestyle.

    Adios Amigo and Mucho Gratias

    Daljit

  • Oh, heathcare for everybody! Ohhhh. SCARY!!!! And it just doesn't WORK. Haven't you heard all of the bad things from ALL of those OTHER COUNTRIES?? It's SO MUCH BETTER HERE ALREADY! Right?

    You clown!

  • @jax1moi8 It works perfectly well in Australia!

  • how many cigarettes should i bring along.

  • @rodrico50 not before they cure cancer

  • Classic song from a classic album. No more needs to be said. Good stuff indeed.

  • flanger

  • God im so fucked up drunk and high and this sounds just stellar im loving this progressive rock style guitar. This music is about as good as it gets baby.

  • come on down to south pacific costa rica and listen to tull high up in the rainforests with waterfalls and a doobie with a latino lady in the lap!!!!!!!!

    Daljit

  • I wish.

  • Riding though London town to cry you a song :P

  • "Closing my dream inside this paper-bag.

    Thought I saw angels

but I could have been wrong"......the way he says that is chilling yet amazingly awsome

  • Man you marked the spot :3

  • totally bad-ass song by tull.......i really love the ending fade, almost seems out of place but its brilliant.....and cool!!

  • I believe the ending fade is the main riff from "Minstrel in the Gallery". At least it sounds a lot like it... a foreshadowing???

  • naw Tull is original

  • AWESOME. My favorite songs from this album are "Alive And Well And Living In", "Son", "For Michael Collins, Jeffrey, And Me", this song, "A Time For Everything", "Inside", and "Sossity; You're A Woman".

  • my fave tull song

  • kick ass song

  • Really listen to these words, tell me this isn't about a stalker. Now that's metal.

  • pure bliss...

  • Such an infectious riff!

  • Genius, pure genius

  • Fuckin' awesome

  • Awesome song, I can't believe it hasn't gotten more comment, I guess it speaks for itself...I came down from the skys to cry you a song..

  • It's like a plain girl with a good body. Easy to overlook, but the more attention you give it the more rewarding it becomes.

  • @JozzaOzo Not sure I can or would want to compare TULL to a plain girl, I don't care what her body's got going on. :P

  • @JozzaOzo

    nice!

  • @JozzaOzo

nice! but shawnziii nailed ya', nothin' plain 'bout Tull!

  • this song is sick! thanx for puttin it up
