..........JETHRO TULL..1969...in my teensroom..with my new pic up stereo....to cry you a song...dreams of beeing in the rockscen...but I was just a kid of 15....and Jethro tull was my first ecperience with real rock music after the Beatles...that was my sisters choise....keept them in my heart since then....love there unique sound..JETHRO TULL..RESPECT..
I saw them in a town in Kentucky (hate to mention caus I now live there again) but the crowd was expecting a rock and roll show. They were screaming " where's Jethro Tull" Ian Anderson was totally amazed at the response and if you have ever been to their concerts it was a sort of sit down, shut up and listen. I was mortified and kept yelling sit the frig down and listen to these guys! JT was a classical music class for the unwashed! Loved it!
.... I just went walking down Pacific coast Hwy in Sunset Bch, CA ..Flying so high .... 'walkin through 'sunset town to cry you a song' the cops here don't care as this is a premium 'fruits and nuts' area ..but w/$.....-:)
I will never forget the first time I heard this song on WNOX-AM radio out of Knoxville,TN late at night with a DJ who added an effect to his voice that made him sound like the wizard of OZ (the scary sound before the curtain was opened) like "I AM OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL...WHO ARE YOU? kind of scary. I burned the artist's name into my memory so that one hopeful day I would get to buy the album or 8-track. I have always been a fan.
Jethro Tull is a cornerstone in the musical universe - capable of balls on rock n' roll and a haunting beauty that squeezes the heart. Bloody brilliant.
There are truly not enough deliriously desciptive words in the english language to describe how many angles Tull Music hits you from! The huge catalog of tunes will take you on more trips than you've lived in all your reincarnated lives!
As I sit here jamming to this tune,it dawned on me that my all time favorite bands come out of the same place. The Beatles,The Who,Genesis,Yes,Pink Floyd,The Kinks,David Bowie,Led Zeppelin,Elton John,ELO,Rolling Stones,Queen, etc. etc. etc..... Thanks England for all the great bands.
@SouthJerseyGuy1 ...I agree be the US has had a few... But after all English is their native, native toungue, our inherited, but their music, all you have named and more stands on it's own...-:)
The combination of 18th century style rocked out music and it's perfectly trippin' lyrics, fit the late 60's early '70s like almost no other.music! Another example of the 'TOP 'O The Line' catalog of Jethro Tull.
this was, benefit, stand up, aqualung, thick as a brick, were all sell out arena concerts in detroit back in the day. not underated just a little forgotten.
I thought this song was about Ian flying home into Heathrow, then having to transfer via taxi to Gatwick for flights to Edinbourough...and that that entails for Ian.
Yes. And it seems I am finding this out lately as I've been listening to Benefit a lot lately, (more than I did in the day). They seem to be a band whose music as aged very well.
Good thought process. But what about getting hauled in jail for smoking a doobie. It happened to me in the state of Virginia. I grew up in India with a right to buy and smoke the good stuff. Now they talk about free country USA. It is all bogus freedom concept. The concept in USA is " talk to my lawyer".
Moving on to Costa Rica to enjoy relatively free lifestyle.
Oh, heathcare for everybody! Ohhhh. SCARY!!!! And it just doesn't WORK. Haven't you heard all of the bad things from ALL of those OTHER COUNTRIES?? It's SO MUCH BETTER HERE ALREADY! Right?
God im so fucked up drunk and high and this sounds just stellar im loving this progressive rock style guitar. This music is about as good as it gets baby.
come on down to south pacific costa rica and listen to tull high up in the rainforests with waterfalls and a doobie with a latino lady in the lap!!!!!!!!
AWESOME. My favorite songs from this album are "Alive And Well And Living In", "Son", "For Michael Collins, Jeffrey, And Me", this song, "A Time For Everything", "Inside", and "Sossity; You're A Woman".

Yee gods!! What a brilliant track!! Old but like a good Whisky, it improves with age!

I've always enjoyed the imagery of the lyrics as well as the guitar chorus...with guitar leads interwoven. A very complex tune, but not overdone.
Many Tull songs sound to me like they're done in a 'round'-hypnotizing!
My favorite JT tune. Thanks for posting!
