I miss Pavarotti! :( I seriously want to cry that I never had the opportunity to see him live. Potts is good, but needs some serious lessons to draw out any uncultivated talent. It might even help for him to get some oral surgery done and straighten some of his teeth to help with better resonance? i am a trained musician. i only say that because i am embarrassed that my so-called "peers" would denigrate this man because he comes forward in mid-life, without having the benefit of formal training, and demonstrates a beautiful, clear, natural voice that begs for direction and encouragement. does anyone appreciate the difficulty involved with attaining a high tenor "a" or "b"? he does it naturally. why doesn't someone offer to work with this man instead of dismissing him?

Pavarotti also got criticized in the classical community when he sang pop music. Not because there was anything "wrong" with it...He just sounded a bit silly doing "crossover"...which he obviously did for the money. Trust me...We in the classical singing community complain just as loudly when an operatic voice sings pop. It just ends up sounding ridiculous. So when a "POP" voice like Paul sings classical, we think it sounds just as ridiculous.

@uuzoo Paul seems like a great, down to earth guy. I've been singing opera professionally for almost 25 years now, so I can tell you why he gets such criticism.

Paul's management markets him as an "International opera star." With the exception of Nessun dorma, NONE of what Paul sings is opera. It's not even classical music. That's neither good nor bad, they're just 2 different things. His management makes him out to be something he's not.
