Quite possibly. I happened to be on a page which was generally advertising muslim propaganda with the videos listed on the right, so I suppose that moved me towards that view. As I have said, I've seen the whole debate and understood the point at that time. Clipped out, and certainly on that page was something that made me make a mistake. I'm so sorry I got it so wrong.
I can only think that someone who follows Islam, has posted this "snippet" which for dumb people, could be taken that Harris is supporting Islam. It's a cut from a much longer discussion, but even then, it is obvious, the "what if Islam is true" point is used for a particular point in his argument againgst religion.

What is important is that when you meet your Creator, you will be judged according to your actions in relation to what you know, including what you had opportunity to understand but reject so as not to be held accountable. The theory is what ties the facts together. It's amazingly funny how all creationist dismiss evolution by say it's just a theory and my side has just as much merrit. My problem with governments being run by people who say that they are putting the religion into their governing is that eventually they always repress people. I dont understand! The Qur'an is AWESOME, and it doesnt have anything wrong with it! Allah (SWT) has so much compassion. What kind of signs does Jesus give that he's God?!!?! HE DIDNT EVEN CLAIM DIVINITY IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE BIBLE!!!!!! The koran acknowledges all previous messengers.Like Mohammed there are Isa(Jezus) Moesa(Mozes)Noeh(Noah)Ibrahiem(Abraham)ya3qoeb(jacob) and so on and so on.We as muslims believe that all these messengers came from one source:God Allah and many other names He has.We all should believe in one great force that has informed us of His presence in many different ways.He left us miracles en statments and His word in many books.So believe and follow, or don't and let people be as u like to be left alone

I used to be a Muslim. I converted out of the deen. As I grew up I always knew there was only one Creator, but as I got older and studied the Koran and hadiths I came to realize there were some glaring errors and mistakes in using them to guide my life.
according to Islam i am allowed to beat my wife.

Forced marriage is not a spoil of war in Islam, but has been perpetrated by so-called-muslims, but not during the life of the Prophet.
Burqas are not a religious obligation but being sexually modest to people who are not your close kin or your husband is haraam, but regarding covering the head, covering at least the hair is obligatory.
Saudi Arabia is not a good representative of the principles of Islam.

@shaamanplatinum I wasn't talking about forced marriage, I was talking about spoils of war rape, which according to the quran verse 4:24 "all married women (are forbidden) unto you save those (captives) whom your right hands possess". And since according to the quran, the marriages are abrogated when they are captured, it condones spoils of war rape.
I don't believe any religions. They're all jokes. They talk about a loving God and then say it's OK to have slaves.

@shaamanplatinum They have no scientific proof of any of their cliams beyond what is directly observable in the time they're written. They tell you if you don't believe you're going to hell, but if you do believe almost anything you do to someone who doesn't is fine. But beyond that, it isn't ever settled what any of these books say, because the interpretation gets changed according to the political needs of the moment. As I said below religions are political organizations.

Sounds like instead of working for a God, Mohammed worked for the IRS. There is enough to know about geology and embryology that one can spend several years studying those fields and get a PHD in either one. You say mountians anchor tectonic plates. Tectonic plates are crumple zones from which mountains arise. they don't stabalize anything.

@strivestruggle I can't find my geology books from college. Simply type in "Do Mountains anchor tectonic plates?" into Google. The best answer is given by the fifth selection. All of the true science websites say know, but the fifth one, Topix, gives the most dtail and doesn't mention the quran. Same thing with embrology. Type "Stages of fetal development" in Google. The best answer is the one from IUP. WebMd does a good job of explaining as well.

Everything in there that says anyting in relation to science that you Muslims would say proves divine revelation was either easily observable at the time or is wrong. What has stood the test of time is man's fear of death and ability to make up all sorts of complicated stories and ignore reality to assuage that fear.
