"la batería' = drum (set)... so it wouldn't be plural... think of it how words like 'family' (la familia) and 'hair' (el pelo) also mean more than one thing even though they're grammatically singular.
@DeadlyThrashViking im not sr jordan but watev....... i can help too..... they use la instead of el because el is masculine and la is feminine. most words that end with a is feminine... most words that end with o is masculine. these are some exceptions when it's la and it ends with a o and also it's el but it ends with an a (p.s i dont know why that happens but it's an exception and you have to remember it) e.g. la mano, la radio, el agua. (hand, radio, water)
¡Hola! Me gustaría agregar como dato extra que en el idioma español los pronombres personales pueden omitirse a diferencia del ingles. Es correcto decir: canto y yo canto, tambien es correcto decir: canta y el, ella, usted canta.
i have watched videos 1-22 over the past two days and you are a superb teacher. ( i teach too and know a good lesson when i see one.) you always predict the question i was going to ask and address it, which is pretty amazing. i am trying to get as fluent as possible before i leave for costa rica to teach english there in august. thank you for your wonderful and well thought out videos.

Hi senor jordan! I have a question about the sentence: We do not play drums.
Shouldn't it be : Nosotros tocamos las baterias instead of nosotros tocamos la baterias. Thanks so much. hasta pronto!

do you always have to put the pronouns before the verbs? for instance for the verb "cocinar", can you say "I cook paella" by saying "Cocino paella"?
saltontherim 1 year ago
(yo) cocino paella
Pronouns are not needed. They are often used for emphasis or in times of confusion

You and google translator say radio is female. But it ends in "o"?
pinkytm1 2 years ago
there are always exceptions.
Interesting note:
la radio --> what you listen to (radio waves?)
el radio --> physical radio you carry around and can touch

so, when your talking about a group of girls and boys its still nosotros?
liliogirls 2 years ago
if you're talking about a group of people (not including you), it's ellos
nosotros = we (boys; boys & girls)
