Time travel was clearly not intended when they first started the show, which is a shame as I think it's basically ruined the show's credibility for me.
there is no more juliet people. even if she survived the white flash she also fell down a big ass hole and is dead. i think sawyers next. and jack and kate are the skeletons in the cave from the first season. no one lives, pan out to sunset, shows over....
If u read between the lines of what the writers said, did they basically confirm that whatever happened happened, and if the timeline changed it would be "cheating"?

I think that Lost has lost some of its appeal ever since they stopped showing flashbacks of the main characters, although I might contend that it was starting to get a little boring. I think that the dynamic past/present was a lot more interesting that the present/future/flashesthattakepeoplebackandforth thing. I also think that at the beginning the show dealt extraordinarily well with such adult topics such as the search for a purpose, societal roles, the impact of choices on others and so on.
I agree; when they were showing flashbacks, the way they filled in the gaps that revealed how the characters became what they were on the island was so interesting, and the way they explained certain mysterious qualities of each character that would significantly influence events on the island worked so well. I must say though the flashbacks continued on into the second season, the first season was the very best, and can never be outmatched.
When Jacob says "They are coming" .... he's refering to the survivors who all died ... but in the season finale' Jacob visited them all prior to them being on the island. JAcob has selected them (Jack, Sawyer, Locke, Kate, Sayid etc). Somehow they all cheat death ... but when hes says "they are coming" he means them.
in episode 16, the statue showes the thing holding male and female symbols, i think it represents (just think about this), it represents another civilazation race enslaving the humans. and as jacob sais before he dies "they are comming"
the writers have also said that there wouldn't be time travel. how'd that one work out? (though i doubt aliens, at least in the popular view, will play any part of the show; but i wouldn't be surprised).

yeah thats how i understand it at the moment. The statue is an egyption god named sobek, who was the god of protection, and the god seen in the temple was anubis who I understand to be evil.
