there are some who ascribe jinns to there sons & daughters & this has openly been put across in films, there was one in particular cant remember the name of the film but the message was clear, the father sold his daughters soul & when she had reached a certain age she became a different person along with many of her peers.

it doesn't matter in which way the person is sitting, i guess its easier if he/she is lying down in case it tries to attack you.. but as long as the person exorcising is only using Qur'an and prescribed remedies from the Sunnah it is all good.
