@LOUDgoron007 No, not by itself. If you have microphone enabled headphones, the nano opens a hidden voice app. The seventh generation is expected to have a camera, and possibly a speaker/mic.

@Goosemyberry If you're concerned about it the screen turning on when you accidentally touch it, it doesn't. To turn on the backlight after the screen rests and goes black, you press the sleep button on the top right. The screen sort of automatically locks itself while resting.

Can someone enlighten me? I'm confused as to why someone would want to buy the Nano if you could get Sansa Clip Zip for 1/3 the price?

The Clip Zip has tactile buttons so you can control your music without having to look at a screen, more supported media codecs, voice-record feature, able to be RockBoxed, drag-n-drop file storage, expantable memory, and has a customizable EQ.

The only clear advantage the Nano has over the Clip Zip is the touch screen. Does that justify paying 3X the price?

@miceblue425 Design and Customer Care are other distinguishable features favoring the nano. The nano also has a fitness pedometer and integration with Nike +. Not to mention the benefits of using iTunes to manage music, such as Genius playlist. The nano's dock connector also means it works with a huge variety of 3rd party accessories. And, the nano is smaller than the Sansa. The Clip Zip is a good value however, hard to knock-it. The nano's biggest problem is its price IMO.

I don't know of a single person who uses Nike+...but I guess some people do. iTunes is nice, I personally find drag-n-drop much more convenient, but again I don't know of anyone who uses the Genius Mix feature. You're right about the dock feature, it's a big plus for the Nano that I didn't think of earlier; all the docks/portable speakers my family owns have a 3.5mm headphone line-in jack for 'normal' PMP's.

I got one of these for free due to the nano recall, I kid you not! was expecting a new 1st gen iPod but there was "limited availability" so they gave me one of these! Would't buy one though, get the iPod touch instead so much better, worth the extra £30 for sure.

@Petersyss I'd say 6th gen nano. IMO nano has a better SQ than the shuffle. Both are music focused players but on the nano, you can at least choose your songs.

I took part in the replacement program (I actually HAD a 1st g. nano to begin with) and today I collected the new 6th g. nano from the post office. Not a device I ever thought I would need but since Apple wants to send me something for free, hey, I'll take it LOL My 1st g. was in really good shape and it's kind of sad to lose the classic version but it's nice to have a brand new 8 gig nano, as well - I'll even get one of those wristbands to use it as a watch occasionally ^^

I am lucky I still have the 5th gen, with no damages..6gen looks awful..just the shuffle with a touch screen slapped on it, no one I know or have ever met has a iPod nano 6gen most have a 4th,5th and 1st 2nd or 3rd gen...some people think that is the new model of the shuffle rather then being a nano...having none of it's characteristics I LIKE THE WHITE SCREEN WITH LOTS OF MENUS AND THE WHEEL. I hope apple realizes what they have done..and release the next ipod nano with ipod classic look.

In my opinion, this is kind of a 2 steps forward, 3 steps back kind of thing. Yeah they made it smaller and a touch screen, but they removed the ability to record videos, they got rid of video playback, and they battery life went down to 10 hours as opposed to the 5th generation
