@ericohman I own a reissue 808 and have compared it to a vintage 808.They are extremely similar, the difference is very slight and hardly noticeable. I definitely wouldn't pay extra for a vintage 808. The re-issues were made with the originals in mind, so why would you expect them to sound that much different anyway? I think people just prefer the vintage pedals because they are vintage, a sort of placebo effect, but also they can brag "Hey look at my vintage 808!" just sounds more impressive.
I think you should try and reverse the order of the pedals. I bet that would make the R logo sound better than the other, simply because of not being at the end of another pedal (and buffer amp)
@danakerman :-) Only the trademark "R" logo: the oneo the left has it (probably 1979), the other not (probably 1981); same circuit I think, and same sound.
Not sure what this compares. Like 2 of the same microwaves next to each other. We're cookin now! Now we're going to hook the 2 microwaves together...WEEEEEE!

Do you have or know anyone who has a reissue 808?
That would be an awesome test. Would be interesting to see how close they can sound when dialed in respectively

@Heatfarmer Already done. They sound exactly the same, they are two vintage ts-808. Thank you for your comment. :)

I would sell that logo for a grand! Keep the RI.

@bmwm3cs Hi, both are vintage, one with R logo (1979) and one without the R logo (1981).
Thanks for the comment. :)

@simplexiammine I guess that is why I couldn't tell the difference. By the way, i subscribed to your channel. Thanks for all the gear demos.

Yeah, I'm not getting it. Are these pedals supposed to be different from each other in some way?

@danakerman I heard that the vintage TS-808s with the R logo sound better ... but in reality they sound identical to my ears

@simplexiammine Me too. I own one of the non "R" TS-808's, as well as a modded TS7. I think the two 808's in this demo sound exactly alike.
