It is an NMDA antagonist and helps with the hyperalgesia (i.e., light sensitivity, neurogenic pain, etc.; think "hyper pain") that comes with excitotoxic brain damage as occurs with many neurological conditions. Not correct. It is an NMDA antagonist and helps with the hyperalgesia (i.e., light sensitivity, neurogenic pain, etc.; think "hyper pain") that comes with excitotoxic brain damage as occurs with many neurological conditions. It is not a pain "killer" in the same way as opiates but but has a different purpose in neuro conditions as it is more of a replacement of pain killing biochemicals that are not present as they should be (in some cases this goes for opiates too with low endorphins.)

That's not the point. There's no reason why it should be illegal for anyone over the age of 21. The effects are comparable to alcohol, actually even less intense to alcohol.
