  • The ensemble are FIERCE.

    Original cast (exception of Glinda)?

  • My absolute favorite Wicked song! Amazing!

  • That isn't Kristen...

  • I thought their chemistry was stellar, along with the vocals. Obviously I'm a die-hard Kristin fan, but I think this girl did an absolutely amazing job. I liked her movements on stage, they were very fluid. Props!

  • Idina's cackle at the end is brilliant after scaring Annalene.

  • Idina'slaugh is so cute at the end :')

  • I like them individually, but their voices do not blend AT ALL. It's hard because I really like both of them in their individual casts.

  • @CrookedPenguinGirl Its weird... I didnt notice how much they dont blend until i read this comment and i love this video and been watching it for ages :L

  • Comment removed

  • @CrookedPenguinGirl Yes I totally agree.

  • idina menzel is so amazing!

  • I think the British accent really suits Wicked. Here it's a little too prominent because they were working so hard to get away from the American but if you listen to it now it sounds so natural. Rachel Tucker and Louise Dearman do this song really well :) x

  • Both singers are talented but they didn't fit very well together. Both had a distinctly differently accent and it didn't mesh well- but both are very talented women.

  • I know Kristin Chenoweth is amazing, but this girl is great too! I think the british accent suits the character x

  • Idina just shines out in this song :D She's so amazing

  • the brit women suck shes no kristin genenworth

  • @klboucher1 If you love Kristin Chenoweth so much, why can't you spell her name right?

  • @klboucher1 hahahahahaha is that a joke???

  • @klboucher1 Fair enough, but your no speller either :P

  • the brit women suck shes no kristan genenworth

  • It's like you've replaced Paris Hilton with Princess D... the brit didn't carry it well.. but ofcourse..they're both good..

  • i love how Idina couldnt help but smile :D

  • My dream is to star in this play. As Galinda. but my father tells me i will NEVER make it. Should i make a cover to show people how I sing?

  • @greenrabit1230 yes! do it! i support you... from... mexico... =D

  • @mariannita97 Thanks!!!!! Im going to convience my mom to let me!!

  • @greenrabit1230 @LoveMeDead18 Just follow your dreams. I'd love to be in it but I can't sing...at all. But I'd still like to maybe be a background person or something. After all it's an amazing show.

  • i love idina's laugh at the end. it makes me smile lol

  • Idina =]

  • It might be because its a show so theyre a bit of the game, but i do think its definately not theyre best :/ im british and i dont mean to be rude but i much prefer kristen and idina together :)

  • ...did Kristen just get less talented :| OH WAIT! ITS NOT HER. -.-"

  • Is that Chenoworth?

  • @katerinawsy No this was the original west end cast :)

  • I love that ending.

    "Boo!"

    "AH!"

    LOL

  • @eviemist123 Lol i did Wicked for a youth theater and I got to yell out Boo~ It was the best~ lol

  • such a great show..but where's kristin? haha...

    idina is great!!

  • @julieannemusic03 This was the original west end cast :) So thats why Kristin wasnt there

  • go that christian side hug!

I agree with many of you people that the accents do clash to a certain degree, but everybody sounds different so you cant get it perfect all the time.

    The Jazzmeister XD

  • this is for BBC...so technically Idina is the one with the accent

  • the accent ruins it. idina menzel makes it better though

  • :( oh the hug at the end ruined it.....

  • idina menzel! you are everywhere

  • This really wasn't a good pair up of voices. Annalene is forced and the fact that there's someone with and without an accent doing a duet kind of throws it off

  • I was like woahh thats idina menzel. YES XD

  • @willowbreeze121 I agree completely about Annalene. It was horrible, in my opinion. she just ISNT galinda.

  • Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

    BLONDE!!!

  • @willowbreeze121

not all non-Brits don't like the accent! the only places it kinda throws me off is when they sing together and the vowel sound doesn't match up, so they don't blend as well...but that might be the chorus girl in me.

as far as boq being scottish, when i cast the imaginary movie in my head, david tennant is taking that role :o)

  • @willowbreeze121 I actually felt like the brit accent was great for Glinda... it adds an air of snobbishnish XD no offence

  • @willowbreeze121 I speak American english , and I agree. we have have like 1000 accents here in the U.S. english is english. As long as its english, I see no reason for them to trip about it.

  • ''BOO'' ''AHH'' ''HAHAHAHAHAHAHA''

    SOOOOOOO funny hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Love all of Idina facial expressions, she makes this performance!

  • Idina is brilliant in this but Annalene looks a but out of character and is TOO british for this song (and no replys like "your offencive to brits!" i am a brit okaii?!?!) and it seems like they haven't had much practice together. it's still really good tho :)

  • @xxRockChick1983xx I agree completly. This is SO not the best versoin of this song. AT ALL. I like the one The one by aimzybaby better.

  • @xxRockChick1983xx sorry not by her i meant by umm one second I'll tell you when i find it again it will be the main vid on my profile.

  • @xxRockChick1983xx yeah i agree maybe it's because annalene was standby :)

  • @xxRockChick1983xx hahaha... yeah.. her type of blonde is more of Princess D like ... Galinda's type is the Paris Hilton blonde

  • @xxRockChick1983xx I kinda liked the british girl... i mean i love kristin, but i thought that the accent kinda gave her more of a preppy snobby boarding school kind of girl....

  • I guess its plain to see, when you look at you and me, we're different, we're different as can be :D

  • @GGdahut AVPS! And so, so true...

  • @BellatrixPlaysPiano IKR. I couldnt resist commenting it. Plus, the two actresses both were guest stars on Glee, which Darren Criss is in who is HARRY FREAKIN POTTER. (ps the song was in AVPM i think)

  • @GGdahut Wait, this song, or Harry Freakin' Potter? And who did the Galinda actress play on Glee?

  • @BellatrixPlaysPiano Different As Can Be was in AVPM, not the sequel, and it was only the original Galinda was April on Glee.

  • I like Annalene in this. Love some of her facial expressions. Also love this song - one of my favourites from Wicked.

  • 'dearest darlinyest Momsie and Papaposcal'

    'my dear Father'

    okay?!?!?

  • i lov ethe laugh at the end <3

  • aww, she reminds me of mary poppins.

    <3

  • .....Did anybody realize this is was in.. London? Before they complained about her accent? Maybe they think American accents are annoying!

  • Ew. The British accent IS annoying here. lmao Sorry, but they don't mesh at all. Oh, well. Still love Idina.

  • @FurImmerLamm It sounds quite good here actually. Idina is the one that stands out with her accent while the rest are english. I love english accents and i am scottish. Maybe listening to Louise dearman will change your views. I actually prefer the London production but i still adore the american one because its different

  • the voices do clash!!!!!!

  • i've always thought this combo of leads' voice's clashed? anyone else think so? (and it's not the accents ppl)

  • WOWWWWW are people not allowed to have an opinion these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheTHESPIANS101 Thats not opinion thats just moaning. Basically you hate english accents and the london production. You could reason it a little like willowbreeze 121.Apart from not liking annalenes voice as much as me I totally agree with willowbreeze 121.

  • you know for the people say that Galinda's accent is annoying i totally agree!!!!! She should have been cast as the old hag-maddam morrible with that horrid , wretched accent and attitude. Galinda should be perky and fun and "drama queen" INSTEAD SHE SOUNDS LIKE SHES GLINDA INSTEAD OF GALINDA!!!!!!!!!!! that gets on my nerves!!!! and when you see a broadway musical that takes out a key symbolism of a character it is very disappointing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @willowbreeze121 when the brittish accent is added to this part it totally takes away the perkiness and fun and then the transition from that to the Mature Glinda from GAlinda!!!! THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT SYMBOLISM and if you don't have that than.....whats the point of Galinda the Character. This Galinda is not having fun. I saw the USA tour and Galinda's Change of attitude and appearance was dramatic and a key part of her character. That applies the same with Elphaba-

  • I think its pretty much who you saw first is going to be your favorite. I saw Rachel Tucker as Elphaba in London first and she is by far my favorite. I think Idina is great but I like Rachel's performance better...

  • that girl is quit good i must say! but not near Kristin's standarts. and ofc Idina is the best there is, no need to comment on that! :)

  • my friend and i did this for an assembly once. we argued over who got to be elphaba. but she was blonde :)

  • Idina and Kristin are the originals, and in my personal opinion, the best. However, the people who replaced them are good as well, even though I don't think that Annalene's British accent matches Idina's... not... British voice as well as Kristin's did.

  • @willowbreeze121 I'm a Scot and I found boqs accent irritating. His speech was fine, but singing in Scottish is a no no, the only folk that get away with that are the proclaimers and biffy clyro

  • @simpsondudeno1 I'm scottish too. I agree totally with you. I really wonder why they wanted a scottish accent for boq. Not that i have anything against the accent

  • Idina and Kristen are the perfect Elphaba and Glinda, not just because they were the original. They genuinely are the best.

I went to go and see it a couple of years ago in London and it wasn't Idina but the girl playing Elphaba sounded SO much like her!

  • not really liking the britishness of that girl lol. but i can overcome it because idina is amazing :D :D

  • nessa sounds like NASA...ahahah

  • I like both Galindas however if you have Idina you need to have Kristin, because one doesnt work without the other

  • hahah at 313 Idina is laughing at something than goe straight faced again haha i though the glinda hit her on accident but i think she just couldn't help but laugh

  • i do not like the other galinda in this one! i wisk Kristin Chenowith!!!!!!!! that would have been awesome!!!!!

  • I love Glinda with the British accent, and this one knows what she's doing. I do not find her forced or anything. She's excellent.

  • 26 people are loathing

  • @willowbreeze121 I personaly like g(a)linda with a english accent it suits her.

  • Idina is amazing

  • i saw wicked in London with Louise dearman and she was an amazing Glinda! and Rachel tucker is an amazing Elphaba. But ofcourse Idina is amazing! :)

  • Glinda with a brittish accent just fits still 'BLOND' best part of the song

  • I'm British and I don't think it works because it doesn't portray her as a dumb blonde as much...

  • BLOND

  • We perform this in choir soon. can't wait :3

  • Hmmm. The British accent is interesting in this...

  • kristin chenoweth is well better lol idinas kool especialy wen she laughs at the end and cums outta charicter a lil bit lol its kool x luv d song x

  • I find the british woman's voice annoying, because normally when british people speak, you cannot hear their accent, like with Leona Lewis.

  • Thats Diana Pilkington I think?!

  • @MyKelCia That is most definitely not Dianne Pilkington. Dianne didn't even join the show until mid 2007. This is Annalene Beechey, the Original London standby Glinda.

  • @MyKelCia I don't know who it is but its not Dianne Pilkington

  • @MyKelCia It was the first London standby. Her name is Annalene Beechey.

  • @jackhurst85 Thank you xxx

  • This and popular is one of my favorite songs. thumbs up if you agree!!!!!

  • ms galinda looks pissed off at everyone. ah. no wonder. shes a snotty brit.

  • I just don't know what they mean with this song its so confusing

    can someone explain please?

  • @kirsti1234567890 lol, they don't like each other, and don't like sharing a room.... and everyone loves glinda and no one loves elphie

  • @PinkkElephantt

I understand that but \i don't understand with that new feeling

  • @kirsti1234567890 well the new feeling is loathing.. hatred...

  • @kirsti1234567890 It's right after Elphaba and Glinda find out they're roommates (Elphaba thought she was going to room with her sister and take care of her), and they realize it's "hate at first sight." Elphaba hates Glinda because she's perky, blond, snobbish and popular, everything Elphaba is not, and because Glinda (at first) is snobbish, she hates Elphaba because she's green, different and unpopular. Also, everyone else is "on Glinda's side" because they want to side with the popular girl.

  • Pixiekeen should get more flames. What she said was totally unacceptable and I don't see how she should get away with something like that!!

  • You kinda miss Chenoweth's voice..it is unique...and I hate the accent ...

  • @edsaundershn I love Kristin too. Ironically, though, this Glinda's voice is closer to the Glinda in the 1939 movie, Billie Burke. I know Wicked is based on the Oz books too, but the appearances of Elphaba and Glinda were definitely inspired by the movie. L. Frank Baum's book makes no mention of the Wicked Witch being green, or Glinda wearing pink. In fact, Glinda was a plain old woman in the book.

  • Idina is amazing as Elphaba as usual!

But Kristin will always be the best Glinda.

Loved Idina's little laugh at the end :')

  • this glinda cant even compare to kristin :(

  • I really love this Glinda, I think the British accent makes her sound more posh and stuck up which is perfect for the role!

  • I love Idina's laugh!!

  • I love how Idina says 'BLONDE' and 'YOUR VOICE' <:-)

  • don't like the glinda :(

  • I LOVE THIS SO MUCH :D I THINK WICKED IS JUST SO AMAZING I HOPE TO BE IN THERE POSITIONS ONE DAY :') xxxx

  • Wasn't Helen Dallimore G(a)linda at this point?

  • @WickedGaGaFan this part of CIN is usually late night after the shows had been on that night, so Helen was probably resting or something! :)

  • @BWombat12 Ahhh :) did she actually ever actually take the role of Glinda on fully, or was she just an understudy?

  • I LOVE WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mumsie and pop-popsicle.

  • ALSO! a bit TOO British ahah

  • I don't like this Galinda she's not silly enough :(

  • Haha

"Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe..."

    "...Blonde."

    XD

  • This is a stupid question, but does someone mind telling me who is the lady playing Galinda? She is AMAZING!

  • love this version as much as the ALL the others and i love how Glinda has the accent, just adds a little twist from the last production

  • Are they from the us cast or oridginal uk??? confused

  • i love Idinaa Menzel <3, but i reallyy dont like this Glindaa!! i dont even know who she is and im a show freak, and i dont like the English accent on her? it doesnt fit into the show its just strange. i honestly think she ruined this song :/ Kristen Chenoweth all the wayy!! sorryy xx

  • @normski456 She's better than Helen Dallimore. And she doesn't put on an annoying voice. I admit the accents a bit strong but I just think you fans take this far too seriously. No offense but this is why huge Wicked fans are looked down on. You don't like any change to it.

  • im sorry but i couldnt help laughing when idina goes your voice :P :)))) just really funny in this situation....

individually they both have good voices but i dont like the mix of american and english, they should have one or the other

  • AWW love WICKED and idina menzel i must say i prefer Kristen chenoweth as glinda oh well at least we have Indina her laugh lol shes awseume x

  • thats because she is american and that is not Kristen Chenoweth i swear

  • UH-MAZING :) although im not sure i like this Glinda, Kristen Chenoweth is much better :)

  • @shaannon66 uber duh. i totally agree

  • i love Idina's laugh at the end

it just cracks me up every time! ^^

  • sadly the english accent ruins it all. aren't actors required to act in the uk? the australian cast are perfect including the harmonies which are lacking here.

glad im not in the uk!

  • @pixiekeen Personally I, like many people in my country, hate having to hear everything in american accents. I LIKE the accents here, even if Idina is admittedly American, she's still extremely talented. I find nothing wrong with the harmonies, but hey, if there's something wrong, they#re still human. TV is different from the stage and the audince of Children In Need is in the millions. Mistakes happen. such is life.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming you're American?

  • @Kiariad assumption is the root of all evil, Chum.

"even if Idina is admittedly American, she's still extremely talented"

    was that really necessary?

not really giving yourself a good name here.......

    i am new zealand born.

one of those bright enough to get away from your country.

    enjoy

  • @pixiekeen "The English accent ruins it. Glad I'm not from UK" You think there was nothing wrong there? You're just as bad as these other Youtube trolls!

You DO get name calling because of stupid comments like yours! Get fucked you bitch.

  • @pixiekeen It is, I know the majority of people who slag us off tend to be American, and while it occured to me you may not be, I simply went with that, so I apologise.

Here I'm talking only of the accent, nothing more. I really like Idina Menzel, she's talented and she seems to have a sense of humour (from what I've seen), I just find her accent a bit annoying, even if I don't let it stop from enjoying the performance.

Neither are you, slagging off an entire country.

    I will, actually.

  • @pixiekeen ** It's brilliant overall so get over it. I don't know why you think nitpicking the smallest things is neccessary. Not only that you like to be a complete bitch about it and slag us off just because it makes YOU feel better. You make me want to barf. And I can't help but notice the hypocrisy. You should look at yourself before claiming other people have been rude and name calling that was all because you began the whole bloody argument.

Do us all a favour and piss off.

  • @pixiekeen You are very rude. Why don't you give the cast credit?

  • @boffinme80 im not the one name calling. and i prefer quality performers who can sing and act. i'm sure the cast are fantastic singers but Wicked is an american production based on an american book which was inspired by an american movie and book.

    have you seen wicked?

have you watched the tony award winning team or Kristin and Idina?

    but you are right.

the woman playing Glinda has a very pleasant voice.

youtube Kristin Chenoweth "Glitter and gay"

    enough said

    x

  • @pixiekeen I hate people like you. You act like you've done nothing wrong! Your comment was extremely rude and YES I HAVE seen Wicked! Yes I realise that Wicked was an American book BUT Gregory Maguire said that some places in Britain inspired Wicked. Look it up in an interview. I do like prefer Idina and Kristin but fucking hell, I wish you would give the British cast credit!! You may not like this Glinda but they are not all bad!

  • @pixiekeen You don't know what the fuck you are saying. I'm British and I am extremely offended by your comment because it was so rude. How about you think before you speak and that includes regarding the British accent. You cannot judge a person, cast by their accent just by watching one video. You have to see loads of them to really know them. This Glinda is not that bad actually. You are obviously not a true Wicked fan because if you were you would like Wicked anywhere, it's a great show **

  • @pixiekeen Excuse me but have you actually HEARD Dianne Pilkington and Louise Dearman? Their British accents MAKE it good! And Alexia Khadime, Kerry Ellis and Rachel Tucker are by far some of the best Elphabas I have EVER seen! I think it's awful that the Australian cast have to do it in American! And for your information this was when Wicked first came out and it was obviously difficult for the cast to translate from American. How would you like it if we said YOUR accent ruined Les Mis.

  • @pixiekeen that is EXTREMELY rude an offensive!!

  • @BettyBabiixX i wouldn't worry about pixiekeen. she's not worth the trouble. no one ever said that all the characters in the land of oz had to have american accents

  • @TheLadySullivan Pixiekeen has got LOADS of hate mail now and that's her own damn fault. She claims that she has said nothing wrong when it clearly stands out she has offended a whole bunch of people, for all the nasty feedback she's got. I can't stand bitches like her who blame other people for her own actions.

If she doesn't want to be ganged up on, she should keep her mouth shut!

Because what she said is worse than an insult. It's like a punch in the face.

  • You've just got to love Idina. and her Elphie cackle >.<

i wish i lived in the states or in london so i could have seen Wicked when she was performing ¬¬

    ah well. hopes for next year :}

  • When Elphie lifts her leg up at the end, and Glinda back off with her hand, it almost looks as if Elphie is flashing herself. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • is this right order for london elphaba: idina kerry alexia rachel glinda: helen annalene diane louise
  • @bodboy106 Annalene was never lead Glinda in London, she was standby to Helen. I guess Helen was sick or resting her voice and couldn't do Children In Need so Annalene did it for her.

  • Idina Menzel and Annalene Beechey

  • I like the German cast a lot more!

  • XD Elphie's laugh at the end. I love it! hahahahaha The moment she says 'Boo!" I crack up laughing and when she laughs I laugh harder. I've watched the ending like 10 times already and it's still funny.

  • goosebumps.

  • omg my counceleor from summer camp sang this and defying gravity to the camp yesterday. shes gonna audition for American idol!!! omg i cant wait

  • A break in character Idina? lol Oh She is my Idol! <3

  • Love this 8D <3 Its so funny when Elphaba says "Blonde" - She just says it so buntly its hilarious XD

  • I Love Idinas Laugh :D

  • @SammyCool321 @boffinme80 you guys are funny

  • mw and my friend Angela, might do this at da talent show. Im Galinda (da blonde 1) and she is da complete opposite of me! I am all gothic and stuff, and she is girly!

  • They should have stuck to all American accents. The song sounds wrong being sung in an English voice.

  • @SammyCool321

You need to shut up and stop bashing the English accent. You are being very rude and it's not fair on us who love Wicked in England. You may be used to the American accent but that doesn't mean we can't do it our way as well.

For your information, Wicked the play may have started in America but the BOOK was written in England, Gregory Maguire stated that some of places he wrote about were loosely based on places on England.

  • @boffinme80 You need to shut up and get your facts straight first! I am from England! Lived here all my life! I have an English accent! Duh! I am not 'used' to American voices in everyday life, but the American accents would just sound best for the song. The song was made for an American accent, not an English one.

  • @SammyCool321

EXCUSE ME?! I didn't know you were from England so don't go all bitchy on me!

I just said that your opinion was a bit unfair, and all you do is throw fire at me for no reason!

  • @boffinme80 I'm not getting bitchy, but just defending my country. Night x.

  • @SammyCool321

Oh yeah by being RUDE about us?? How is that being defensive? You stupid girl.

  • @SammyCool321

You WERE being quite rude in your comment! That's all I was pointing out!

  • @SammyCool321

I don't know what is wrong with you people always making out that the English accent sounds very wrong in this song. It's great whatever accent it's in so in theory you are being rude. You just don't realise it. Idina and Kristin are the best no doubt about that, but PLEASE just give the other Glindas some credit!
