I wish the lion king would come to Pittsburgh. It hasen't been here since I was in 6th grade. that was 5 years ago. they shouldve come back. I want them too I'm sad they haven't come back. :( Please come If anybody from the lion king reads this please come to Pittsburgh. But I doubt anyone will read this.
i saw this production in elementary school and have never forgotten it. :3 it was awesome and i remember having a crush on the person who plays simba :P
i saw this play during a class trip for my drama club and i have to say this is a masterpiece. from the costumes, to the layed back timon and pumba, to the funny sarcasm by zazu, to the randomness of rafiki, all the way to the over all amazing singin and acting by the whole cast (especially adult simba) i would have enjoyed this musical even more.............if i didnt have to explain everything in the play to my friend because she never saw the movie
It has 14 songs outside of the 5 that are in the movie (Circle of Life, Can't wait to be King, Be Prepared, Hakuna Matata and Can You Feel the Love Tonight). Many of them are African-themed with authentic vocals and rhythms native to the Lion King's land, and some of them were specially written by Elton John and Tim Rice to fit into the storyline, and yet others are English re-workings of songs from the Rhythm of the Pride Lands album (Lala turned into Endless Night, for instance).
@lionking300 Lebo M wrote the majority of the Zulu songs (I'm pretty sure there are parts that are Xhosa and Sotho). Tsidii Le Loka (the original Rafiki) wrote Rafiki Mourns. :)
I just saw it a week or so ago and I loved it ^_^ The only thing I didn't consider was "The Morning Report". I never really liked that song, and seeing it in the musical didn't help XD But, everything else was great :D My fav part was "The Madness of Scar". The part with him flirting with Nala was pretty amusing. I hope to see this show again real soon. It was totally worth going through the freggin city for it (I HATE cities because of the pollution and huge crowds of people :P).
i want to see this MUSICAL (it is hardly a SHOW, cleversagg22) so badly!!!! I absolutely fell in love with the movies, and the songs, the characters, and the stories. timon i would have to say is my favorite. i love his voice!
OMG I saw it in Seattle as well on Thursday night! It was seriously THE MOST incredable thing I have ever seen! Everyone was so talented. The young Nala and Simba were only around 11 or 12 years old! They were AMAZING! Ha - I loved Tamone, "I'm surrounded by idiots."
That's awesome! I was actually there as well yesterday. Where were you sitting? It was quite unfortunate that Scar had an understudy last night (you'll probably agree that he wasn't very good), but the regular Scar, Tim Carter, is phenomenal. I teared up as well (most people do) the first time they see Circle of Life... just an incredible opening. Glad you enjoyed the show and got to see it in Seattle with one of the best casts ever assembled for the show IMO.
I went to see it in the West End in London and i was trying sooo hard not to cry during the circle of life, glad to hear i'm not the only one! absolutely phenomenal!
It was so awesome, so magical with such a strong fantastic message and incredible voices that my best friend and I started crying. I don't know, it made us feel full of hope and choices.
I saw it on broadway in 2001, my aunt new one of the cast members who played one of the hyenas and we got really great seats near the front. The same thing happened with beauty and the beast. I was very fortunate
GOD i want to see that so badly. I plan on collecting enough money to go see it in brodway with my family. My parents have done so much for me in the past, i thought i would take them to see it, seeing as though both of them, and myself want to.
OMG!! I saw this last night.. and i am completely OBBESSED WITH IT!! It was awesome.. I never liked the movie (for some odd reason) but, when i saw this, I LOVE IT!! I loved everything.. the best broadway show ever!
I saw this on broadway, and it was aweaome. I especially loved the puppets, the singing, and that cool thing in the center of the stage that rotates up, that was neat. By brother DJ took his girfriend to see it for her 19th birthday.
i saw the lion king on broadway about a year after it first opened and i was completely blown away! it was breath-taking---the costumes, the sets, the music, the actors---everything was incredible! i LOVE the fact that the actors are always visible. it's beautiful---if you haven't seen it, SEE IT!
Awesome! What a wonderful birthday gift. I took my sister to see this show for her 16th birthday, she said it was the best gift she ever got in her lifetime. That was my first time seeing it and one year later I celebrated my 20th by flying down to San Jose from Seattle and watching the show from the fourth row with a couple of friends who surprised me with a spare ticket. Probably the most memorable birthday I've ever had!
this show is ridiculous on Broadway the cast is amazing you totally forget they are human and those kids are very talented. after the show the actors were downstairs still in costume and make up and signed autographs and collected for a charity.
I'm very happy to report that Wallace Smith (the Simba in this clip) has recently taken over the role on Broadway! I've seen him perform 2x in 2 different cities - he's the most talented, vibrant actors I've ever seen. He clearly deserved the opportunity. I also had the pleasure of meeting him briefly in San Jose in 2006 - Wallace is an incredibly humble, nice man even with all his success. Hopefully his reign as the Lion King on Broadway will last a long time.
just saw this in Minneapolis the other day. It amazes me every time. It's the third time I've seen it and it still brings me to tears. When you first watch it you wonder how they'll pull something off and they always manage to go above and beyond.
The Lion King on Broadway is absolutely amazing. EVERYONE should watch it. In fact, everyone should watch all Broadway musicals because you can't beat any of their performances.
I got to see the Lion King in London 2years ago we don't have it here in New Zealand it was just AWESOME YEAH! I plan to take my family back to see it in the very near future KOOL.
I'm from NZ too. I saw it in London twice, in 2001 and 2002 when i was over there. i really want to see it again! But i don't think it will be as good as then because it doesn't have any of the original actors in it anymore, i think it would be more mainstream. but i still want to see it again!
I went to the lion king in Johannesburg last wednesday it was beautifullll! Will never forget it, the cloths, music, make up, story line everything, it was so brilliant.
::plugs his ears at the end of the clip when he hears the the voice of the person doing Scar:: Dear lord he doesn't do that role justice.. I could do better than that.
I went on a backstage tour of Lion King a few NYC trips ago, and then went to the show. It is magnificent. I was also the only person whose head was small enough to wear the young simba and nala heads :)
Loved this show!! I saw it yesterday at the Fox Theater in St. Louis, Mo where it's playing through July 29. Best show ever I am 19 and enjoyed it very much, there is something for everyone it was amazing!!
I LOVE this show! I've seen it over 80x! I got to go backstage in L.A. several times to see everything up close. I even got to feed a "zebra" some grass one time and had my picture taken. A crew member set the picture up. I was so much FUN!
I saw this in Jun of 2006. It was INCREDIBLE. Unfortunately the play is coming to an end soon. From what I could see, Scar, Simba, and Mufasa were played by different people when this was made.
