yes you need a special monitor- it has to be able to display 120fps at least. Regular monitors can only display 60fps. But other tan that and the glasses you need no special stuff :)

nvidia is like Intel... it just makes overpriced shit that only delivers on synthetic benchmark tests. put a phenom 1090T with a 5970 against a 980x with a 5970 and see which one games better. you won't notice a difference with your eyes. see which one boots up quicker. you might notice a half-second difference with a stopwatch. don't waste your money just to say you have more of it than brains. there's nothing about the 980x worth $700 more except for bragging rights.

@myplague11 It doesn't have a cooling problem but the fan speed ramps up to 70% at idle. And if it is on 30% it has the same temperature. So if XFX makes a BIOS update it's fixed. If you put MSI Afterburner to do the fan speed controlling it works really great and it has great FPS in my system!

Actually, with IZ3d one can have 3d on ANY GPU, provided it's powerful enough. It will run the standard two colour(which is shit tbf), the active shutter, the DLP and even the Zalman polarised 3D monitor. It actually gives free support to the DLP and Shutter one for ATI owners and has freeware Zalman monitor support as well, so it's not nV exclusive, just very very expensive marketing. As for physX, It'd be cheaper to get an i7 920 and oc than to get a 480 to do GFX and PhX.

@soma1509 Yup, I must admit that ATi have lost it in the software dep but their hardware is still very good, esp for the price.

Nvidia does great in the software dep but needs to work on their hardware! Over heating problems, too much power etc, though the gtx 460 is good.

I'm more of an AMD fan but I've always had AMD systems, my next is ethier one with i5 760 and gtx 460 or phenom 945 and hd 5850 oh and the hd 5850 system is cheaper for me and more eco for me. :/

Still, both comps rule!
