@EricEbac22 - he did not hit anything. Alexander's car is the one that went in nose first and then bounced off the wall hitting the back of Earnhardt's car. KE flipped because of momentum and aerodynamic effects of getting sideways.
Alexander died from a basilar skull fracture which would have been prevented had he been wearing a HANS or Hutchins Device that had already been mandated in NASCAR.
this was just a racing deal gone wrong...kerry had a run on him and alexander tried to block or even just break his momentum.I wonder was the spotter even saying anything or did they both think he was clear.does anybody know what how many laps there was and how many was left?
Everybody stop arguing about stuff u cant change. If dale were here right now he would be so ashamed if u. It cant be changed so just stfu about stuff u know nothing about
@BJFRacing88 Heres a fact, very start of clip you can see 2 grooves(lanes) kerry coulda slid up to give blaise room instead of turning him head 1st into the strongest part of the damn curve, if you were here a month ago defending kerry against other people you are a bizarre individual. fact is besides dale sr, all his children suck ass at racing, why defend someone that doesnt give a damn bout you?
@KerrCo1 not as many that happened between 1989 and 1995 that's for sure. Believe it or not a death or two per season in NASCAR's top 3 series was, at the time, incredible to most of us fans... who had lived through seasons where 5 or 6 drivers would die. The cars were incredibly safe then, they're unbelievably safe now a days.
@erasetoimprove i wuz born in 99 and i started watching nascar in 2001 ,and although i wuz only 2,i still knew wat wuz going on when earnhardt crashed.i also barely rememeber that big one at daytona[tony stewart]
That wreck shouldn't have killed anyone. Since they say he died of head injurys I suspect he had an equipment failure much like Dale did. Dale's death was due to his seat belt being improperly installed by him or his crew. I suspect Dale wanted it installed the way it was, because even the rankest amature ought to know better. What a shame in both cases.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Blaise Alexander died of the same injury, a basilar skull fracture. While Earnhardt's belts were not installed to NASCAR specifications, they had nothing to do with his death. Both deaths occurred due to deceleration causing the head to snap forward causing the fracture.
This injury has now been almost eliminated in racing due to sanctioning bodies mandating the use of the HANS device.
@SlamDuncDrummer Dale's belt tore in half, how can you say it had nothing to do with his death? It had nothing to do with the bolts that secured it, the length adjuster of the belt turned 90* so the belt was pulled into the little corner of theadjuster and it was sheared in half. Sharader hit the wall just as fast and at near the exact same angle, yet he walked away. Dale's belt was not in a straight line pull, it came straight up from the floor directly under the seat opening for it
@505197 actually in all of the official reports, the belt reportedly had been cut by safety workers. In fact there is only one report that ever mentions the belt possibly breaking, and that is the investigation NASCAR did itself but according to security, police, and emergency workers at the scene the belt was cut to get Earnhardt loose. But even so, all official examinations clearly state the belt was a non-factor either way. Earnhardt's injuries were caused by pure energy, not hitting his head
@erasetoimprove I saw on TV where they officially explained it as a torn/failed belt, they stress tested it untill the adjuster flipped 90* and it slowly tore it in half. As far as the G forces killin him I have to say horseshit, shrader drilled it just like Dale did and the reason he walked away is his belt didn't rip in half. G forces don't kill you with a basial fracture, at 50G your heart tears loose. The only remarkable thing about Dale's crash is it killed him, and the belt failed.
@505197 um you can absolutely get a basial fracture from G-forces. You can get pretty much any injury fro g-force that you can get from impact. The crash looked bad enough to kill somebody, it was at an angle and speed that had killed many drivers before.... without tearing their seatbelts. Either way, NASCAR's conclusion is the ONLY one that claims a torn seatbelt, and even in their OWN official report it literally states in black and white that the belt was not a factor in his death.
@erasetoimprove Nascar went through a period of killin modified drivers, Richie Evans was one of them, and none that I know of died of a Basial fracture, I read it was internal injuries and mostly hearts rippin from it's vessels. When you look at all the wrecks Earnhardt had over his carrier it's remarkable that the one that killed him is the only one his belt failed in. The way Waltrip acted in the booth I'm convinced he saw something we didn't, he knew it was bad and he saw Earnhard floppin.
@505197 what he saw was Earnhardt not put down the window net, and Ken Schrader jump back when he went over to Earnhardt's car and looked inside. We didn't see that on live TV.
@erasetoimprove He was "OH NO" before the car ever stopped rolling off the track Read Raddon's report of blunt force trauma is what busted Dale's skull off his neck, not a fucking whipping force from the wreck. The goddamn wreck wasn't that big of a deal, his improperly installed belt failed and this ONE time is when he dies, I'm tired of arguing with close minded people, do some fucking research. He had blunt force trauma to his head from being loose in the car, and Waltrip saw that I bet.
@SlamDuncDrummer continued./// The belt came straight up, then angled through the belt slit in the seat. IN a wreck, the belt force was applied to the seat against that slit opening, which isn't where it failed, but is really a stupid way to install a belt. Look at all the horrendious wrecks where belts didn't fail, but Dale's did, and I'll bet Blaze's did too. They tried to blame Bill Simpson for it, it was Childress' fault and he should have admitted it.
I also thought that trying to blame Bill Simpson was a travesty and quite frankly falls in to the category of passing the buck to me. The HANS device had been in use by open wheel racing for a number of years prior to that but NASCAR was slow to act.
They are now more safety driven as they know that the future of their sport (business) is fan loyalty to their drivers. Can't follow a dead driver.

Thank The Indy Racing League For Developing The Soft Wall & the Hanns Device, Nascar lost lots of drivers talking about safety while indy car lost very few the last 15 years, It took loosing Dale for the france's to spend some money and really work on safety,
@gnr4life06 You're a moron. You, in fact, are the reason I would whole-heartedly support needing an IQ test to use the internet. Because jackasses like you would never get the chance to be on it
@gnr4life06 no offence but look at the lower right of the screen this is TNT brocasting TNT didnt brocast a race in 2000 they didnt brocast any race untill 2001 so yea this is 2001.
@mouloudo Because Kerry definitely meant to cause Blaise to have a fatal wreck when he got into his car that day. It ain't like Kerry's dad died earlier that year as well. :|
yeah some crashes are so horrible they make you hold your breath for a minute thinking its fatal. then they get out and the only thing wrong with the driver is he's upset about the car being tore up. guess its all about how the neck and head take the impact.
hans deffinitely would have saved his life. remember J,Gordons crash at (i believe it was Kansas...but plz correct me) a couple of years ago, he spun out, and hit the emergency crew entrance opening to the track....NASCAR said he went through like 200+ G's...and he escaped injury. Since NASCAR's mandate of the HANS device in 2001 (after Earnhardt died) no one has died in NASCAR resultng from an on track collision with something.
well nascar knows nothing of physics. 200+ G's is impossible to survive. A jet pilot can pass out at about 10 G's of force with a G suit. The most G's ever survived was 179.8. And that man was blind and could barely function. Died a year later. Jeffs crash might have generated 200 G's but only about 4 or 5 G's reached Jeff. Because the G's were dispersed, kind of how kinetic energy is transferred through your body or how electricity can be grounded out of your body without a single shock
@EpicDime Well, that's not quite true. The guy who survived 179 G's was David Purley, the same driver who tried to save Roger Williamson. He drove in F1 and had that huge accident but survived it, albeit with serious injuries.
@EpicDime The guy you're talking about is Colonel John Stapp who survived 46.2 G and was blind for a year or so. But he also survived that and got his eyesight back, although it was pretty poor.
You're tryin to compare apples and oranges. When you say jet pilots pass out at 10 g's that's true but that's after they experience 10 g's for x amount of minutes or seconds. Wrecks happen at much higher g's but they only occur for a fraction of a second and that's how they survive the wreck. Needless to say RIP Blaise from what i hear he was a good friend of Jimmie Johnson too.
your a dumbass if you think that flipping once and sliding down the down the track is worse hitting the wall head-on at 190 m/phr. you obviously know nothing about racing, flipping is nowhere near as bad as hitting the wall from any angle, if you want to, i'll explain why, slowly....
@ westridgemattlyman. there were roll cages in the cars long before earnhardts crash you dumb fuck. and @ joyfulvulture, not all americans are white trash bitch. and f1 is the most boring shit ive ever watched so you can go ahead and fuck off too. thanks boys. you are all fags that obviously dont know shit about nascar. stupid fuck ups.
This crash happened right in front of me...I was sitting only a few rows up past the flag stand.........I knew Blaise's impact was life threatening at the angle and speed he hit the wall..........
Although Kerry's looked worse visually because of the slide and fire being upside down he didn't take a sever impact.....
When a crew member ran up to the door window on Blaise's car he instantly turned away in fustration........
I understand Blaise suffered a basel skull fracture.....
@supersubaru555 and how many people survive fighter jet crashes? last time i checked f1 cars didnt have ejection seats. id rather crash a tank than a jet.
@supersubaru555 and how many people survive fighter jet crashes? Last time i checked there arent ejection seats in f1 cars. Id rather crash a tank than a jet. People die in all series, nothing really argue about there.
@supersubaru555 and how many people survive fighter jet crashes? Last time i checked there arent ejection seats in f1 cars. Id rather crash a tank than a jet. People die in all series, nothing really argue about there.
@supersubaru555 umm, if it is so safe in the cockpit of a fighter plane, why do the have ejection seats in the event of a crash? whether you rcae with a carbon fiber monocoque ,or a tubular steel roll cage, either can be lethal at race speed.
Hmmm......I seem to remember Ralf Schumacher crashing not once, but two times at the USGP. First in a Williams - BMW and the second time in a Toyota. Remember.....everybody saying they left him stranded on the track for almost 2 minutes??He ended up with a fractured back???
That's the old cars and before they even had the hans device in cars. The new Car of Tomorrow is leaps and bounds more safe with drivers surviving impacts even harder than this one.
The car hit the wall head on you stupid bastard, let see you say this when it happens to you you idiot, total disrespect if it wasn't for these crashes our road cars woudln't be as safe as they are today
i was sitting right where alexander hit the wall i seen it all happen right there in front of me

505197 6 months ago
@505197
Yes I did see the demo. I also read the autopsy report on both drivers and both mechanism's of death were basilar skull fractures.
The fault does not lie with Simpson or Childress. The fault simply is/was a matter of physics.
Like I commented, the mandated use of the HANS device has all but eliminated this specific type of injury from auto racing.
Earnhardt was killed instantly by the skull fracture as are most victims of this injury.

Thank The Indy Racing League For Developing The Soft Wall & the Hanns Device, Nascar lost lots of drivers talking about safety while indy car lost very few the last 15 years, It took loosing Dale for the france's to spend some money and really work on safety,

Jesus Christ, Americans can't even drive around in a circle properly.
MusicHypno 1 year ago
you know that the cars are like only 4 feet from each other, so there is a very small margin for error, so its more then driving in a circle.

wow that impact was nasty. i wonder if even with a hans device on will you still die in that kind of impact.
checkfoldcallraise 1 year ago
well look at michael mcdowell's wreck at texas, i think that was worse and he walked away with no injuries
crakajack3 1 year ago
yeah some crashes are so horrible they make you hold your breath for a minute thinking its fatal. then they get out and the only thing wrong with the driver is he's upset about the car being tore up. guess its all about how the neck and head take the impact.
checkfoldcallraise 1 year ago
yea with mcdowell, i was like he's dead no doubt. when he walked away i was so surprised, absolutely amazing
crakajack3 1 year ago
hans deffinitely would have saved his life. remember J,Gordons crash at (i believe it was Kansas...but plz correct me) a couple of years ago, he spun out, and hit the emergency crew entrance opening to the track....NASCAR said he went through like 200+ G's...and he escaped injury. Since NASCAR's mandate of the HANS device in 2001 (after Earnhardt died) no one has died in NASCAR resultng from an on track collision with something.
mopar4t4 1 year ago
i think that was vegas in 08, and yes that was a very scary crash
crakajack3 1 year ago
well nascar knows nothing of physics.
EpicDime 1 year ago
@EpicDime Well, that's not quite true. The guy who survived 179 G's was David Purley, the same driver who tried to save Roger Williamson. He drove in F1 and had that huge accident but survived it, albeit with serious injuries.
kidnamedchicago 1 year ago
@EpicDime The guy you're talking about is Colonel John Stapp who survived 46.2 G and was blind for a year or so. But he also survived that and got his eyesight back, although it was pretty poor.
kidnamedchicago 1 year ago
@EpicDime

@mopar4t4 I saw it 2 kinda ironic that he hits the EMERGENCY crew entrance

your a dumbass if you think that flipping once and sliding down the down the track is worse hitting the wall head-on at 190 m/phr. you obviously know nothing about racing, flipping is nowhere near as bad as hitting the wall from any angle, if you want to, i'll explain why, slowly....

@supersubaru555 umm, if it is so safe in the cockpit of a fighter plane, why do the have ejection seats in the event of a crash? whether you rcae with a carbon fiber monocoque ,or a tubular steel roll cage, either can be lethal at race speed.
