We have 3 pits (all rescues from high kill shelters). They have made us realize that we MUST open up a Sanctuary. We will be making this happen so that pit bulls will have a place to always live without fear of having to live a life on death row in any shelter.

i agree with you 200% on this beautyful video i have a male pittbull named boo he is just the sweetest guy ever obidient and and gets along with my mom's chihuahua i love him to death!
Did you know that even when pitbulls are in the pit, fighting, the owners are in the pit with them encouraging and goading them on? Do you know why this is? It is because pitbulls are bread to be very gentle and unaggressive towards humans. That is why. My understanding is that dogs have to be abused to make them fight. So, except in very specific and extenuating circumstances (Eg. dog protecting owner) if a dog bites a person the owners should be banned from owning dogs.
I spoke with a man who trained and showed dogs for years, he said that the breeding for gentleness to people is a myth, but it is always true that an aggressive dog is the fault of the owners. He recommended "Good Owners, Great Dogs" by Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson as one of, if not the best dog training manual out there.
Personally, I think good old common sense wins out time and time again.
If someone has absolutely no background in obedience or aggression training... sure... get a book.
Im 110% self taught and its all based on common sense and the basic military boot camp training principles:
Tear them down, and build them back up again with confidence and security, good diets, proper discipline and structure, lots of exercise and constructive stimuli, and a whole lot of love.
There is just no contesting it. Every last one of these stories we all see/ hear on the news about an incident involving a pit bull are either a) it wasnt a pit bull at all, but "PIT BULL ATTACK" sure sounds good as a hook on the 11'0'clock news... or B) In fact it was a Pit Bull and most definitely came from a cruddy neighborhood and lousy owner.... But they dont say that on the news or in the paper ... AND THEY SHOULD.
aw, what a great video. I watched the whole thing and I agree, we should put the responsibility on the backs of irresponsible owners. This video is a great example of happy, well adjusted Pitbulls and a very loving and responsible owner. Thanks for posting!
Absolutely beautiful David. Brought tears to my eyes. I remember the fascist nightmare that happened in Denver. I can't imagine the horror of those who had their beloved pets taken from them. Karma is not good in Denver.
Thanks so very much to you and your pack for representing so many of us who have loving, loyal and tender partners who are pit bulls! It's impossible for a pittie parent to watch and not see their own babe reflected in the mannerisms, the joy, & that wonderful healthy strength that can be used for good or bad. When it comes to Pit Bulls . . . the beast is often the two-legged animal at the other end of the leash. No more BSL!
It was absolutely great to see these 3 dogs who were once declared vicious, romping, playing, and enjoying life! This video is proof the problem is not the dog. The problem is the bad owners.
It is my every intention with these videos to bring "THE TRUTH" about pit bulls and the ignorance that surrounds them to the general public. With your help and that of groups like Roverlution, DenverKillsDogs, Bad Rap, etc...
