  • Who sings this song!!!! I want it on my ipod

  • @bmc4201 Peabo Bryson

  • i love you one life to live! best tv show ever! i will miss you sooooooo muchhhhh!!! <333

  • THANK YOU OLTL FOR ALL THE MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE'LL MISS YOU!!

  • This wasn't the first time someone wrote a song for this soap called "One Life to Live". I distinctly remember one from the 1970's that was sung by a male character. I wonder if someone can dig up that song.

  • I read that SoapNet is going off the air next year, just as One Life To Lives airs it's final episode!!!

  • @freshin888style - I did too, it's so mean of them :( I think it's going to be Children's TV, and you know kids need more TV. Ugh! Kids need to go play, let us have our soaps! Please!

  • Soapnet's gonna start showing classic episodes of OLTL starting in September. And, I hope they show some with this theme!

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah sing it Peabo he is great Blair was good at singing it but Peabo is the man when it comes to this song

  • The guy at 2:23 looks kinda like Tom cruise lol I think that's Kevin I'm not really sure cus I started watching oltl in 1997 !!!!!

  • who is who??????? lol and it would be better if blair song it!!!!!

  • who is who??????? lol

  • That's a TON of cast members!

  • man that guy can sing his face off!

  • Great job, Whitbyterry!!

  • I love this theme song! I wish ABC One Life To Live would put this back as the main opening!

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • I loved this theme of all of the OLTL themes and wished they had kept it.

  • Perhaps the most iconic soap theme of them all. I'll give you TOMORROOOOOOOOW - Let me BEEEEE the ONE to SHARE it with!

  • I have added the lyrics to the opening to the information for the video. Enjoy!

  • thanks :-)

  • Really sucks that this song was never released.

  • Where were these clips shot at?

  • The background scenes were filmed in Harrisburg, PA.

  • I found an article from August 29, 1984 that wrote about the OLTL film crew shooting in Harrisburg. It took post-production about 2.5 months to make the opening. They likely released it on December 17 since it was close to Christmas.

  • Good lord !! how many people were on the cast that year???...lol

  • I forget if I already commented on this or not, but WOW this is an incredible video! This has always been my favorite OLTL opening, and to see such an extended version of it is just spectacular. Thanks for making this!

  • Glad you enjoyed it! I am glad that someone posted the full version of the opening, which was sang on the show. Unfortunately that video was taken down so it is no longer available.

  • @whitbyterry It's back. Put this in the search bar: youtube (dot) com/watch?v=pt4ZEt8vbVc

  • @RGSJenkins88 Thanks for posting the link.

  • Wow! Kick ass video! Those were the days of OLTL....Seemed the writers then really delved into the characters then and didn't rely on so many sensationalized plots as they do today. I used to like the O'Neil girls and their story line! Also LOVED when the character of Jamie Sanders was on....EVERYONE hated Jamie! Ha! Thanks again for this wonderful post!

  • I love this song. OLTL forever! It's the longest version I have heard of this, and I can't find it on a download or cd anywhere. Does anyone know how I can get this?

  • I have no idea. This was taken from a clip that someone posted a few years ago but it was taken down, not sure why. I've never found it anywhere else. Unfortunately, I don't think a "clean" version of this was ever released to the public.

  • Hey who's that at 2:27? Never seen her before.

  • Robyn Griggs is the actress - she played Stephanie Hobart who was a nice of Carlo Hesser if I recall correctly. For some reason, I don't seem to have that opening posted, not sure why. It was the second-last opening of this style, I think.

  • Thanks so much.

  • My # 1 FAVE opening theme !!!!

  • This is GREAT classic OLTL!! It brings back sooo many memories and makes me think of the old days and how holidays and families meant something back then. Now the worlds just messed up all together. Boy what I wouldn't do to get these days back you know?

  • My Grandmother used to love this show. i would record episodes for her while she be at work. R.I.P.

  • can anyone give the character name for each of the pictures? i've been watching one life to live for about 25 years or more and cant remember all the faces.

  • what is name of this theme song by peabo bryson and two versions tell me name of both of them

  • The song is titled "One Life to Live", both the instrumental and the vocal version. It was never released by Peabo Bryson so you cannot purchase it, unfortunately.

  • Wanda Wolek. I think she either left town or just faded out of the picture. I think she left in the early or mid 1990s.

  • Whose the older woman always appearing in front of the diner? She seemed like she was on the show for a while and I wonder who her character is and what happened to her

  • The BEST theme song ever- man can Peabo Bryson belt out a tune!

  • Were's Jenny's Picture? She was in the first year of this opening?

  • I Would love to see the video of Peabo Bryson's apperance.

  • It was on YouTube once, but got taken down. It's the same audio from his appearance on the show that's backing this well crafted amateur montage.

  • I Would love to see that video again.

  • That's the one where the female cast made a mini-fashion show just when the song was about to end.

  • I Wish they should that video again.

  • Hope Viki see's her sister Meredith in Heaven, maybe she can tell us were DR.LARRY is?

  • Isn't it intresting that Dr. Wolek dissapeared around the same time that Dorian Lord became Cheif of Staff? Hmmmmmm.........

  • Welcome Back Andrea Evans !, the show is whole again.

  • I also agree! Andrea Evans is great. I am impressed at how the show also remained true to her costumes. I was wondering if she would return in the flared skirts like she used to wear. It is refreshing to see her in the flared skirts still! It's great to see OLTL remaining true to a long-time fave!!!!

  • Even though it's dated now... this was my favorite opening for OLTL. Peabo Bryson has a really nice voice. Thanks for posting!

  • At 2:21 there's the character named Tango!

Haha. Lovely name...wonder what ever happened to Tango.

  • Wow! Great job! I wish this theme song would be released to the general public.

  • Also I just saw that from 1:26 to 1:34 you see that Vicki is always at the same place as the years move on.

  • I have no clue why they closed out this opening it is so nice and all. I have no idea, but as the tv's get better it was out lated. Why not just restore it and reuse it today and this is not just a opening this one is a classic and it one of a kind. But, who am I and all the people who want a new opening we are nobody.

  • That is fun. I love seeing where everyone supposedly lived. Also loved seeing Harrisburg,PA again. I used to drive over the John Harris Bridge back and forth from college in Maryland to home in NYC

  • llanview is so beautiful. It also looks nice in the 1997 opening

  • What great memories. Thanks. I have been watching OLTL since 1977 and this sure reminded me of some great actors and great performancers.

  • can you kindly forward this theme to me?

  • if 2:17 is alex than she looks so crazy

  • lol Alex is crazy

  • Who's that at 1:37? She looks kinda like Meg Foster, of Cagney and Lacey fame (at the title pages, she's dead bottom left, doing the look over the shoulder pose).

  • The character is Julia Medina played by Linda Thorson (Mod Squad).

  • Thanks!

  • You should tell the OLTL producers to bring back the opening from the late 1980's! Awesome montage, whitbyterry!

  • Exactly.

If the people at Young and the Restless can bring back their original version of the theme song and use in modern times, why not have OLtL and/or a few other soaps bring back classic theme songs and/or maybe tweak them a little bit.

  • I agree! The theme song for One Life to Live was perfect! They should use it again. I tuned in just as much for the theme song and seeing all the face as I did to watch the show itself. The theme song really does make the show!!!!!

  • WHAT IF!

all these forgotten characters like Marcia Cross as Kate Sanders and Wanda Webb, and The Woleks all came back one day!

  • is 2:34 wanda

  • Yes

  • That was GREAT! I was a big of the show during this time.

  • I'm a pretty new OLTL fan and I wasn't watching when these openings were used. But, I love that theme song! They should have kept it.

  • Its so awesome, love every min of it, but the sound is very poor:(

  • colored??? are you some sort of hillbilly using that old kind of 50's 60's talk.

  • pot meet kettle. Using the term "hillbilly" is just as demeaning as using the term "colored".

  • Why don't you just mind your business, because it looks like you want to side with the person using the "colored" comment. You wouldn't want me to start on you now!

  • I am not siding with the person who used the term "colored". If you had read the comment correctly, you would have seen that I consider both words to be demeaning and that neither term should be used. Please read carefully before you jump to conclusions.

  • What do you say when people call you an intrusive asshole? I bet you give them as good as you get. So, that's exacty what I did to the person using the stupid 50's comment of "colored." I'm giving him/her a taste of his own medicine. Don't you get it or should I continue to spell it out to you?

  • Your comment came off like you were a races. I don't if you meant it to but it did.

  • What is a races?

  • Sorry meant to say racists.

  • me likey =]

  • That was amazing...Perfect..Loved every second of i..

  • Great job!

  • kick ass

  • 00:43 is actually Marcia Cross

  • Yep. Cord's love interest when Tina was thought dead after going over the Iguazu Falls in Argentina. My mom used to watch this show when I was young...I'll never forget those episodes.

  • This is funny and awesome. Man, the actress who played Tina in the 80s was gorgeous. She has the prettiest eyes.

  • That was EXCELLENT!!! A kick-ass montage with the kick-ass theme from the kick-ass years of OLTL! I don't know where those writers are, but somebody needs to call some of them back to work. Because I'm not feeling this show like back then.

  • You completely nailed it!, fwdthinker. (Why can't the producers see all this the way we fans do?)

  • Applause Applause lol :)

    Wonderful montage. Excellent work. 5/5

  • Awesome! Awesome!

  • this opening premiered in late 1984 not in 1985

  • And as far as I know, both the shots of the Llanview Bridges ARE identical, unless somebody wants to prove me wrong (and give me the differences).

  • Not really. The ending shot shows an additonal bridge. When I made that custom opening, I couldn't find that particular view of the bridges.

  • Got curious and took a Google Earth trip to Harrisburg/Llanview PA. Those who either lived in or visited Harrisburg can verify. The opening shot shows (from top to bottom) the Walnut St Bridge, the Market St Bridge, and a railroad bridge. The closing shot shows an additional railroad bridge, the only bridge in the shot that doesn't reach City Island.

  • Total flashback to childhood! Thanks!

  • This is incredibly GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! Could you please post the other versions separately? Like 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991-12/1991.

  • I so love this opening, and I miss it very much. Thank you very much for playing the entire song.
