  • This is the best version for me, along with Henry Wincklers" An American Christmas Carol", which is so underrated.

  • this is for me the only real scrooge movie, so very very good

  • I wouldn't be so fucking calm if a ghost coachman came rumbling through my living room in the dead of night.

  • You, are an old potato?

  • I've got this version in a VHS tape, really need to buy it in DVD so I can watch it anytime I like since all my VCR's are dead!

  • GADZOOKS!!!!

  • Poor Ebenezer

  • What a great effect...the hearse at 5:10...am sure the folks who did The Mummy (1999) were paying homage to this film when the chariot was used to take away the mummy's invincibility. Bravo.

    Alec Guinness rocks.

  • I thought Scrooge was filthy rich but his house is crappy

  • @JAMbannana cause he is a miser,he is rich, just does not like spending it lol

  • @JAMbannana Yeah because he's a miser who wont spend money,even on himself :)

  • @RaeRae914 my question is how come in all the other movie Scrooges house is HUGE but in this one his house is small.

  • @JAMbannana IDK

  • @RaeRae914 Unless, He Changed His Ways At The End!

  • Why does Marley sound like The Godfather for a minute?

  • @lostsurfc0 OMG ur right he dose sound like him

  • @JAMbannana I know but the least he could do is clean his house and make the place look fancy. All the other movies make his look big.

  • I actually went to see this at 9 as a guide for my school play. Third grade. Now at 50, I love it still. Finney's Scrooge is still the best.

  • As much as I love this story (it's one of my all time favorite stories) I must say the songs are crap

  • @hornymaneee I think it depends on what kind of music you usually like.

  • 6:13 ROFL

  • I normally don't like musicals-( I always fast forward the singing) But I have to say this is the best scrooge movie of all time. The songs are catchy.. not boring at all- plus the acting is superb!

  • the lads singing to scrooge at 0:46 used to look old to me years ago when i used to watch it. they look realy young now.ha. they probly will be 50 to 60 years old now.lol.

  • @nd03ltz Yeah, I was 9 when this movie came out, and I'll be 50 in two months...

  • Tom Jenkins....isn't that Squarepusher?

  • Now that is one gay walking ghost.

  • Note the cobwebs on the doorbells-that's how LONG it's been since he's had one visitor!

  • I love different versions of a Christmas Carol this being one of my favorite, Scrooge was very stubborn cause if it was me the story would have ended at Marley's ghost at the door LOL

  • Love this version scrooge was very stubborn cause if it was me this story would have ended at Marley's ghost at the door LOL

  • YOU ARE AN OLD POTATA!!!

  • @Killingglorie I love that line, too! xD

  • The part with the ghosts always scared the crap outa me as a kid. It does now to this day :O Haha, I close my eyes!!!!!

  • this one has the bell dancers

  • which one has the people dancing with the bells playing the bells

  • @mamawhitten This one. .

  • May the force be with you Scrooge.

  • Second only to George C. Scott. But I love it; took Mom to see it in 1970. Never walked out of a movie happier. All these songs are to never be forgotten. Totally underrated. What a game for a vandal to play.

  • Charles Dickens is by far my most favorite author ever! I love the Christmas Carol, I don't feel like I've had a complete Christmas without watching at least one or more of the many film adaptions. I admit that the version with George C. Scott is my favorite, but I love the story so much that I love and appreicate other versions as well including this one. Alec Guiness's interpretation of Marley is hysterical. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless Us Everyone!

  • @dartanyon77 Same To You

  • "One thing about this story always abates me! Why this particular time in his life, for the sudden account of his lifestyle?"

  • @Grifiki -- in the book (and sometimes in the movie) Jacob Marley explains a little. He's been dead 7 years, and for some reason -- even Marley doesn't know why -- he's been permitted to be visible and audible to Scrooge this night. Maybe he's made enough of a penance so far, or maybe it's that the walls between the spirit world and our own are thinner at this time of year. But Marley says that he's watched Scrooge over the years, and sat by him often, without Scrooge's knowing.

  • creepiest version ....

  • I remember seeing the scene where Scrooge sees the ghost guy on the Hearse drive by, tip his hat and say "Merry Christmas Governor....Merrrry Christmas" - it was at the movies in the 70s. For some reason the audience laughed out loud. I failed to see the humor in it though.

Perhaps it was the Ghost Guys odd Hair and makeup...

  • @ThoughtTraveler Or maybe it was the look on Scrooge's face, perhaps?

  • It is Obi Wan as Jacob Marley...

  • @AriaAislin why did someone flag this as spam? that line is at the end of the clip... sounds like you were just expressing you found the line funny, not calling someone 1s2watchonxmaseve a potato....

  • i love that bit 'merry christmas guvnor, merry crhistmas...........'

  • 08:50 yay! it's obi-wan kenobi!
