Saw this a year ago and I thought it was pretty good its kind of like those fantasy movies back in the 80s. I like the idea of Jackie Chan and Jet Li fighting for 90 minutes and I betcha they could do that if they wanted to.
it's an obvious reference to Ronny Yu's Bride With White Hair... this entire movie is references back to old HK films. Watch some of them and you'll see it's obvious... Mortal Kombat copied those too... it's simple fact.
i kinda agree (no racism when i say this) the jason part made it switch to some Kiddish adventure movie... which pisses me off. And jason replaced jackie n Jet as the main characters.
I felt this movie carried itself pretty well. The subplots were all pretty interesting, and I actuall know of the legend that this movie adheres to for its plot. Most of the plot revelations got me by surprise, but all made sense when looking back at what implied them, and in that sense, I find it to be pretty "clever" for lack of a better word. Overall, I give it a VERY high Matinee.
Oh, and the chick with the white hair was prety cute.

Are you all drunk? This movie was just awful, they wasted scenes where things could've been developing as far as a real plot, the main character felt fake and uncertain of his position + the acting he did was just so bad it effected everyones elses too. I'm sorry to say but if you've seen Fist Of Legend you know what fighting Jet Li is capable of when directed well and this movie felt more like a joke than anything else, even the fight scenes.
The only problem with this movies is that it was too short for the story. They didnt develop the plot enough to be understandable(if that makes any sense XD) The nerdy kid learn Kung Fu in just a matter of... how long?? And the main character didnt have enough screen time to develop that love between Li Bing Bing which i am a big fan of... and she's hot and i want her to be my wife. XD
personally if they had taking the kid/cliche nerd out of the movie and reworked without him i probably would have enjoyed this movie, but i didn't so oh well.
I at first thought it was going to be about some hidden kingdom that has a special treasure, but after I saw the movie I thought a more appropriate title would have been "A Kid in Sun Wu Kong's Temple." I mean the fighting was great but I didn't care as much for the old plot where the nerd gets transported back in time, fights and saves the world then comes back home and kicks ass.

Truthfully I found the movie more enjoyable partially because I grew up with the entire Monkey King Legend and all the other weird chinese legends so seeing it in movie form was a nice suprise and I can say "oooooooooohhhhhhhhh I get it." and make like an invisible reference in my head and it makes a lof of difference for me.
Let's see, we can't sell a movie with legends Jet Li and Jackie Chan together for the first time in a movie, so let's get a goofy white kid, and add the implausible white-boy fantasy where he gets the beautiful Asian girl who would never in her right mind go for such a white dork, unless it's in a Hollywood movie, and that'll get people to watch it. it's an obvious reference to Ronny Yu's Bride With White Hair... this entire movie is references back to old HK films. Watch some of them and you'll see it's obvious... Mortal Kombat copied those too... it's simple fact.

i kinda agree (no racism when i say this) the jason part made it switch to some Kiddish adventure movie... which pisses me off. And jason replaced jackie n Jet as the main characters.

I felt this movie carried itself pretty well. The subplots were all pretty interesting, and I actuall know of the legend that this movie adheres to for its plot. Most of the plot revelations got me by surprise, but all made sense when looking back at what implied them, and in that sense, I find it to be pretty "clever" for lack of a better word. Overall, I give it a VERY high Matinee.
Oh, and the chick with the white hair was prety cute.

Are you all drunk? This movie was just awful, they wasted scenes where things could've been developing as far as a real plot, the main character felt fake and uncertain of his position + the acting he did was just so bad it effected everyones elses too. I'm sorry to say but if you've seen Fist Of Legend you know what fighting Jet Li is capable of when directed well and this movie felt more like a joke than anything else, even the fight scenes.

The only problem with this movies is that it was too short for the story. They didnt develop the plot enough to be understandable(if that makes any sense XD) The nerdy kid learn Kung Fu in just a matter of... how long?? And the main character didnt have enough screen time to develop that love between Li Bing Bing which i am a big fan of... and she's hot and i want her to be my wife. XD

I at first thought it was going to be about some hidden kingdom that has a special treasure, but after I saw the movie I thought a more appropriate title would have been "A Kid in Sun Wu Kong's Temple." I mean the fighting was great but I didn't care as much for the old plot where the nerd gets transported back in time, fights and saves the world then comes back home and kicks ass.

Awesome review, I thought this movie was awesome, however the story was kinda...ehh. But yeah, the fight with Jet Li and Jackie Chan was the highlight of the movie!

I really think that kids are gonna love the story, and the grown kids like myself will also enjoy the flick for what it is.
I was thinking NeverEnding Story when i saw it, but I still love that film too, lol.

i think it would attract more audience if it was a 'serious' movie with a strong storyline. fairy tales and ppl flying abt are becoming so old school. jackie & jet deserve better characters

This is a great movie if you love kungfu movies! I could have done without the stupid white kid routene but hey its an american movie and most americans dont get kungfu movies. two thumbs up!

Truthfully I found the movie more enjoyable partially because I grew up with the entire Monkey King Legend and all the other weird chinese legends so seeing it in movie form was a nice suprise and I can say "oooooooooohhhhhhhhh I get it." and make like an invisible reference in my head and it makes a lof of difference for me.

Let's see, we can't sell a movie with legends Jet Li and Jackie Chan together for the first time in a movie, so let's get a goofy white kid, and add the implausible white-boy fantasy where he gets the beautiful Asian girl who would never in her right mind go for such a white dork, unless it's in a Hollywood movie, and that'll get people to watch it. When I first saw the trailer, saw Li and Chan mixing it up, I was interested, but then I saw the dumbass white kid in it. Why ruin a good idea?
