This stays with me for months after I play it - Dr Hook is absolutely amazing!! Saw them live in 70's and VERY INTERACTIVE with their audience too!!! LOVE THEM!!
Loved this song when I first heard it back in 72 still one that stays in my heart Dennis & Ray made it a point to try to through their voices let the cries of help be heard. I still try to help, if I see someone who is homeless I will buy them a cup of coffee and a sandwich or if its summer I will buy them a large bottled water.
This song spoke to me as a 13 year old kid & to this day Ray and Dennis still speaks to me through this song. Dennis, Ray, Love ya man.
My opinion, Dennis Locorrrier's unique voice and talent is second to none, and that includes Elvis and Sinatra. Please spend some time listening to him on YouTube, and you will see what I am saying. I'm not talking about charisma or his stage presence or name recognition. But his beautiful voice and delivery. Dennis never misses a word or a note. Perfection

It was a sleeper!? I always loved this. And the plight of the homeless is everywhere evident. They are here in our small cities (50,000 or so) in IA.

What a great photo-collection to fit this wonderful song,
written by Shel Silverstein and performed by Dr.Hook and the medicine show.
