Original Jewish word "Gehenna" ("Gai Hinnom") is mistranslated to mean "hell". Hell is to come in the end when the earth and all sin are burned up before God creates a new earth.

I think it's really sad that so many Christians need the threat of Hell to be good and to love Jesus or to witness. No one can describe hell but in human and limited capacity, as no one can't describe heaven either.
Could be that hell is, when all who choose to go willingly and for eternity into it, is more like an eternity of regrets, regrets from despite that they had all chances to know the real God, they stood in their stubborness and pride to refuse Him and disbelieve in His existence.
Hell is simply an eternity of not having God, a God that we didn't believe in, and now we do, but it's too too late.

Why does God allow evil to exist? God allowed evil to exist because he gave Angels and Men, free will. Free will is the ability to choose God or not. If we didn't have this choice, then we couldn't truly love God, because our actions would be the result of robotic orders rather than true choice. God also lets evil run it's complete course so that creation can see and understand evil and first-hand the results of rebellion against the only source of good in existence.

@zekiel777 Yes God is very loving but if we don't give that love back then why should we deserve to be with Him. We have to work for it, cuz nothing come's easy. It's sad to imagine that we can't all go to heaven but we have to pray and do our best. Do our best and God will do the rest :)

@botrsa34 if God is in every one of us, then by saying you need to show love to God to recieve it, why wouldn't simply showing love towards your fellow man be enough? For is God not love itself? and yes, nothing comes easy; and certainly not everyone ascends to heaven (at first); but burning eternally in a lake of fire for being skeptical of an immortal omnipresent being is in no way a fitting or just consequence, ecspecially not one given by a loving God.

I don't understand what you mean by saying not everyone goes to heaven at first. I don't think anything changes after death, you are where you are. That's why I think it's so important how we live our lives here.

@botrsa34 What i mean by 'at first' is that, in my faith, or dogma, Hell is certainly real, but those who were once human cannot go there; Hell was intended for the fallen angels and their leader. The negative afterlife is a place where the WICKED go to learn and hopefully come to understand why they should have been good people, and are than reincarnated. My faith actually is closely indentifyable with the Jewish faith, but i wouldnt give a nickel a bucket for organized religion.

I think it's really sad that so many Christians need the threat of Hell to be good and to love Jesus or to witness. The last time I checked it was an issue of whether or not you believe that Jesus rose from the dead, to believe that Jesus was the messiah, and that there will be a final judgment wherein the wicked will be destroyed and the redeemed will live in a new heavens/earth in peace and communion with God forever and ever.

For the devil & his angels to torment people that don't receive Jesus? Hell was created for their torment NOT for humans. So this idea that demons are going to torment people is a touch of theory. People who reject Jesus according to scripture will be there but leaving loose ends on theory happens to weaken it's postulation.

Moksha, Enlightenment is earned, not given or begged for, unlike Heaven. That's the difference between the two. Getting to heaven is not that difficult, all a pedophile or a terrorist needs to do is to grovel & beg like a dog. He gets to enjoy a flesh-happy heaven while his victims live thru hell.
