how do you mean? like keep a continued tempo in a solo? because if that´s what you mean then you are wrong man..listen to his oldies like Rising force and marching out and trilogy album...but after those records he really started to improvise a lot on the records and live so that´s my answer for that..but if you meant that he don´t keep time well as in changing a style? then the answer is Why should he??he still makes millions on that style..while others don´t..because they are not YNGWIE

@HyperfastMalmsteen i mean he knows exactly when to end his solos/licks on the right beat but what he plays before that final on the beat ending is often out of time. i think people just assume beacause of the reputation the that malmsteen has that he plays perfectly in time however, if u take a closer look it is often not in time at all. though this seems to be the style he's going for.

I'm pretty sure that he explains why he does that in a video, He does it on purpose. He likes to blaze ahead of the backing music so that he can take center stage, it's how he adds a bit of personality to it.

Either way both are incredible guitarists, And i love Marcello's playing. It's completely different from Yngwie's.

playing every style you want don´t make you a better guitarist..that only makes you a wanna be in all genres..Malmsteen will always be known..and when you hear people play neoclassical shred..they will say in the style of yngwie malmsteen..and to be honest i know malmsteen can play what ever style he wants 2..but he don´t want to do it..because he wants to make his mark in history with his style..and besides we don´t want to hear rob or yng.m play country,bluesy bullshit..its SHRED!

that statement is just a fact claimed by you..nothing more..10million people on youtube has malmsteens guitar and play malmsteens songs...how many people actually play a rob marcello song?..if the guy really was a god on guitar he would be a world famous guitarist at the age of 19 already..but rob is in his 40s and i would not know his name if it was not for youtube..but he is good and thats the important stuff..he is no malmsteen and never will be.

@HyperfastMalmsteen lol, a persons fame is not a measure on how well they can play. Rob is one of the most under rated guitar players out there. They are both good players but Rob is a jack of all trades, he doesnt just play shred. Anyone can play one style of music and be really good at it but the ability to play what ever style you want, that is a true skill. Bottom line Marcello's songs just sound better.

On his album Marcello Vestry I think he uses the gt-8 version of the boss metal zone with the gain rolled back, but i'm not sure if that's exactly the same as what he's using here... sounds pretty similar =)
