Actually once you learn some advanced play theyre not that annoying. What is really annoying is when you find a Zangief player online that only uses its tornado or a 4 out of 5 attacks shoryuken ryu.

He can't use Savate because Savate does not involve punches it only involves kicks. You can say he uses Russian Sambo but Sambo is just MMA. He's uses different combinations, punches, grabs, throws so he's a MMA fighter.
Just want to point out that MMA or Pit Fighter type characters like Abel, Alex or Marduk are usually the hardest ones to master in fighting games because they have so many offensive and defensive options available to them.
That trick where rufus does the wierd air-downward kick into a grab is really obnoxious. I've only played maybe 3 or 4 rufus's online, and only 2 or 3 of them were 'good' i guess, and they'd do that all the time. The kick 2 or 3 times to keep me blocking and then a grab.
rufus player was fantastic. Cool to see a high level tourney match that wasn't filled with stupity (well except for from 0:00 to 0:10). Fun to watch. Messiah kick is pretty crazy done right

ugh. i don't know what capcom was thinking when they designed these two. they say they wanted to appeal to the western crowd -but to be honest, those of us here in the west have always been enthralled with the same designs that have strong appeal in the east. in fact, there has long been admiration here over the creativity of some truly unique japanese character designs.
i know i'll eventually get used to these two, but abel just seems boring and rufus just seems out of left field.

I kinda disagree.... sorta. To me Abel seems really cool. While his design is sorta bland, he makes up for it with his awesome fighting style and moves. MMA is popular, so it's cool to have an MMA guy in SF. Rufus however seems really dumb. First of all, he's an obvious ripoff of Bob from Tekken 6, with Lien Neville inspired clothes (she's from KOF:MI incase you don't know). Secondly, FAT GUYS AREN'T FAST! lol. Also, I HATE C. Viper, she's just a KOF ripoff. She doesn't fit the SF type at all.
after spending some more time with these vids, i must say i've changed my mind (slightly); i've grown to appreciate both characters for their unique qualities, though i still stand by my original assertions: abel's alt costume (the one featured here) actually makes him look even more boring and rufus (hillariously) looks like he was blindly cobbled from a grab bag of random ideas :p
definitely agree with aguy about the chen comparison.
I think the appeal is more along the lines of how we generally look (pudgy arcade gamers) and what we're predominantly interested in (MMA vs. "true" martial arts tourneys).

Yeah, rufus is super fast (argueibly the fastest character), has great defense, and does some pretty damn good damage.
Not to mention that kick move he does is amongst the best moves in the game.
It's no question why people say (power wise) he is the BEST of the new characters.
His sole weakness is obviously his short range of attack.

ugh. i don't know what capcom was thinking when they designed these two. they say they wanted to appeal to the western crowd -but to be honest, those of us here in the west have always been enthralled with the same designs that have strong appeal in the east. in fact, there has long been admiration here over the creativity of some truly unique japanese character designs.
i know i'll eventually get used to these two, but abel just seems boring and rufus just seems out of left field.

dude Those two are awesome, Abel is a mix of Alex + Sean and Rufus is sort of like Yun+yangs kick, with good spead and reach. there good in thier own right, but i dont like the fact they used all of SF2 Characted i loved SF3 cause there were all new characters to play from, it was like a new SF

I kinda disagree.... sorta. To me Abel seems really cool. While his design is sorta bland, he makes up for it with his awesome fighting style and moves. MMA is popular, so it's cool to have an MMA guy in SF. Rufus however seems really dumb. First of all, he's an obvious ripoff of Bob from Tekken 6, with Lien Neville inspired clothes (she's from KOF:MI incase you don't know). Secondly, FAT GUYS AREN'T FAST! lol. Also, I HATE C. Viper, she's just a KOF ripoff. She doesn't fit the SF type at all.

after spending some more time with these vids, i must say i've changed my mind (slightly); i've grown to appreciate both characters for their unique qualities, though i still stand by my original assertions: abel's alt costume (the one featured here) actually makes him look even more boring and rufus (hillariously) looks like he was blindly cobbled from a grab bag of random ideas :p
definitely agree with aguy about the chen comparison.

I think the appeal is more along the lines of how we generally look (pudgy arcade gamers) and what we're predominantly interested in (MMA vs. "true" martial arts tourneys).
