  • I just cried and smile at the same time at the part where they were running in the rain barefeet. Oh my word i remember those days like it was yesterday :( aweeee I love my place and I will never eva forget my hometown. I plan to build a basic school in manchester or something of the sort but i must help the children and the schools. One love Jamaica all the wayyyy. Beautiful video

  • @jambabezofficial Thanks - That was my favorite clip - that girl ran on the rough rocks - on and on. Our driver threw 100J out the window and said "The Winner" Then we threw money out as well - that girl was happy! Good luck with the school.

  • In May i visited the Happy Hearts pre-school in Negril and easily one of the best things i've ever done. I took along with me a couple bags of pencils, streamers, art supplies and in return i received tons of little smiles that blew me away.

    jamaican babies are beautiful.

  • very nice song.. it make remember back home..truly a great video...

  • OK I cried from beginning to end of this video. Such a beautiful video. My mom is J'can and everytime I go to Jamaica, I leave w/ a heavy heart. The children there are sooo sweet and innocent, and entertaining too. I love to see them walking to school in their uniforms. And I especially love listening to them talk in their accent. It's SO cute! I really love Jamaica and I'm so glad I am of J'can descent.

  • @miazania So true! The children are so sweet. On my only visit to Jamaica (may Pen),in 2008,I took my ex-girlfriends kids to school a few times a week, and every time i walked in the classroom, every child stood up ,said goodmorning and smiled at me and was genuinly happy to greet me of a morning.

    God Bless Jamaica.

  • I remember those days.

  • What a touching video. We will be visiting the Logwood Basic School once again in November for our annual Jamaican Children's Fund donation trip. I encourage all visitors to Jamaica take some time out from their travels to visit a basic school near you while there. I guarantee you it will leave you with lasting memories. Go see those little smiling faces! And when you do, take something along with you to donate. Whether it be a toy, a book, pencils, or any teaching aids. It will be appreciated.

  • Really nice piece! Touching & heart warming...

  • lovely!

  • I am a 40 year old white guy but believe I attended that school with my sisters about 35 years ago when my family lived in Negril at what is now known as Birchrunville West.

Could it be the same school building?

Thank you for bringing these memories back. Wonderful video and song.

  • School was called Santoy Basic School and was about 2 miles up the hill at the east end of Negril. Head master woman was Novia Parkinson - a truely wonderful woman. Issabelle the wedding planner in Negril set this shoot up for me in 2002 as I was looking to find the origin of the "one Love" teachings as all Jamaicans seem to have it in their heart. Turns out Issabelle is the wife of Binge who runs the "Office of Nature" see my video of it under RastaRichNegril).

    Irie! RR
