Came looking for an old favorite, also find a fun fan video AND Fred K. posting as well. Triple score. Fred if you're still reading, this was a great song that should have gotten more air play back when. Of course life's not fair. Now off to jfredk com.
When I was a kid, my stepfather used to buy me the top 100 singles on 45 for each holiday. This was in one of the batches he gave me. I loved this song then, and still do!!! Thanks for the video!!!

Fred, this song was one of my favorites in the day- I used to call the radio station and request it a lot! Finally thought tracking it down last night, and found it. Also just bought Live at the Bluebird Cafe- great stuff! Thanks!
@ptappini ..thanks much for the kudos on the song/record. We had a great time recording it. All the folks involved were very close friends and have remained so even after all these years. Glad you dig the music!
Nice job guys!....I guess you were the one who actually bought my record! LOL!
and MarkKaraoke....thanks for the story about the phone call. I do remember that but it was a long time ago, n'est-ce pas? I'm still in Nashville and still writing.
@jfredknobloch Fred, this song's still great all these years later, sorry we didn't do it more justice, but that was our mental state and the video state-of-the-art in 1983, when we shot this. I'm impressed that about 17K people have watched this piece, and counting. I'll come and see you one of these days in TN.
@sixfootvisibility ....oh it's some funny stuff indeed... technology notwithstanding. Glad we made the soundtrack. And come on down to Nashville when you can. We're still playin' away at it.
About 16 years ago I was looking for Why Not me and I couldn't find out who sang it. I found out somehow that Mr. Knoblock sang it. I called information and asked for his name in the area he was living in. Mr. Knoblock actually returned my call after I had gotten his answering machine and he told me someone else had the rights to his song Why not me. Mr. Knoblock actually took the time out to have them send me the song on cassette tape and I will never forget it . ty Fred.
Man me too. I listen to Casey on XM every weekend. I was 10 when this song was out and had completely forgotten about it. What a great tune. It's cool to see other people love AT40 replays.
While I don't have XM, I do hear old AT40 replays on terrestrial radio every weekend. I hope they do a 1980 show sometime in the near future, because this was about the time this song was on the charts. I believe it debuted in late July and fell off in mid-September. Way underrated song; should have at least gone Top Ten.
I just heard this song for the first time on a Casey Kasem countdown show on their '80s channel....terrific song...we've all been there...the girl that got away
I've been looking everywhere for this song, why you never come across this song on the radio is beyond me? I think this song is sadly underappreciated
@Doobie1975 Me too! I was begginnig to think that I imagined this song. I have only heard it on the radio 2 or 3 times., and that was years ago. And everybody I have asked about it, including DJs, has never heard of it. This song is a jewel.
What a well-crafted song! and to think that is no recording available on CD, with all the junk that is out there. Thanks for lposting I have not listened it in years. It sure brings back memories of days when life was less comlpicated.
I remember this song was out when my cousin got married. I was there with my then girlfriend and I remember she pointed out that this song seemed appropriate for the occasion- because my cousin had invited several of her ex boyfriends to the wedding and they were all sitting at our table during the reception.
i bow to the wonder of youtube, had this song in my head for years couldnt find it, just came across it, thanks to you, my sentiments go in hand with all the other comments, be safe everyone.
You have no idea how hearing this song brings back a comfort nostalgic era of the year I graduated high school - 1980! I still have the 45 record to this in my stash. No joke, along with Fox on the Run by Sweet and songs for the movie Grease :)
Oh my God,I loved this song and still do!Wish I could go back to that time in my life when things were innocent and happy.Great video, bet ya'll had fun. Thanks for the memories!!!!!
sixfootvisibility, are you really in this video? i really do love the video and the song! a forgotten gem no doubt! i noticed the calendar was june 1983, was this the time the video was filmed? spring and summer of 1983 was a great time! fyi-this song hit the top 40 charts on july 26, 1980 and stayed on the charts for 7 weeks peaking at number 18.
your asking why not me? guys look at your video and you have your answer!no,just kidding i love it!don't ever take it down!when i play this i like to drink a beer and pretend i'm hanging out with you guys!thanks for posting!5 star video rules!!!! i really hope eddie enjoyed his golf game after he stiffed you guys.jerk!
Hey is that 412-341-6783# still good? I need 2get ahold of those fella's for a video I'm making in Austin. And did Eddie shoot under par on that golf game, maybe he can come and help too. Please, please someone contact me. I'll be waiting by my PC to hear SOMETHING, ANYTHING, many thanks...
Jeepers! Thank you for posting the follow-up "Killing Time". It is amazing how You Tube can take you back in time. It's like I am reliving every moment!
I wish I could find Fred Knoblock's album, this was my favorite song back in the late 70's or early 80's. I am glad I found it here, at least I can listen every once in a while now.....
Definitely! About the only songs from 1980 that still get airplay on the radio are "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "It's Still Rock & Roll To Me". Heck, some of the number one songs don't get much airplay ("Do That To Me One More Time" comes to mind).
An amazing song years later

yes, "The Plaza" was torn down in the late 80s. A print shop and a Staples now occupy the intersection.

I would DEFINITELY attend my first ex-wife's wedding, just so I could laugh at the poor sap who got trapped this time.
