Hey Marc - you must try 'French Lover' by Frederic Malle. This never gets a mention, but to me it's the best of the FM line by a long way. MR is in my opinion very mature smelling, certainly something I would consider when I'm older and smoking a pipe!

It's nice, I went through a 2.5 ml decant from The Perfumed Court, but as far as dense, sexy, animalic musks, Muscs Koublai Khan is to me sooooo much nicer.

Bought some of this from one of the frederic malle store in paris. They have a great way of smelling the frag without spraying the cards or every part of your arm. They have glass tubes ceiling high that you open the top half of and stick your head in while the frag is blown around the tube, its quality! Check it out if you go over there!

Great review Marc, good to have you back. I blind bought this fragrance a while back and i fell in love with it. after watching Miguel's review on it i thought my girlfriend was going to be dropping her panties around me lol but that wasn't the case :( she hates it with a passion and asked me to throw it away despite the fact its a 130 dollar bottle. I 100% agree with you that this shouldn't be worn in places with a lot of people that will get close to you.

marc i went out and brought 100 ml of this and now wishing i should have gone with parfumeri generale aomassai still a nich scent but 50 ml would have done it its so potent and takes 2-3 hours to get to the nice part which doesnt help.

As much as I dont want to admit it, I don't like this one. The top notes seem to have way too much going on because they dont seem to blend well and the drydown is too spicy and sweet but not spicy and sweet as say chanel allure but rather a very mature, dated vibe with a twist. I get a cinnamon baby powdery old man diaper vibe, if that makes sense. It's not that good and way too hyped. I had high hopes with this one but after I smelled it, no thanks. Great review sir!

Honestly, I really feel that if this was some designer brand it wouldn't get the recognition that it does. The opening of this smells exactly like a potpourri bomb .. The one you heat up in the little pot. I don't think many girls are going to like the opening of this at all. It is going to come off overly spicy and old manish as a first impression. The dry down is pretty good though. Can't get a better or more detailed review than this one right here thats for sure.

Hey Marc, small question. What's the difference between the parfum oil and the regular 50mL bottle? I was on the Barneys site, and the parfum bottle had a dropper and an atomizer, so I was wondering how the two differentiated.

@sonucraze i believe Katie did the review on the oil. So that could be a great reference point. I never smelled the oil so I can`t say but I hear the top notes are gone and it just does the drydown ... which is what most people love about this fragrance

I thought that this would be my signature scent as I'm a big fan of masculine, musky scents. I ordered a sample and the first application was ok. However, on my second, my gf, who by the way doesn't really ever say she doesn't like a cologne, took a sniff and just shook her head. Not a good start. I may give it another go today.

This fragrance is just AMAZING! I love it. Sorry Marc, but with this one I gotta go with Brandon, Miguel and Al, it is just gorgeous. The idea behind this Editions de Parfum line is just good as well. Frederic Malle made justice by giving to the audience the star status that these artists deservers.I have the travel spray version 10mL and after it I will for sure be picking up a full bottle.
