Hi there! Do you feel the need to make a post which explains how there's some trick to this illusion? Please follow these simple steps!

1) Take a screen shot of the image in question

2) Open MS Paint

3) Use the dropper tool and select the bottom-side white area

4) Use the brush tool and draw a line from the bottom-side white area to the top-side grey area.

5) Marvel at how they're the same colour.

The bottom dark grey lines are darker than the top grey lines, and so are the bottom white lines "greyer" than the top white lines. There is no trick other than shading that makes it look 3D, which in turn makes our brain think that the bottom white and grey lines are the same shade as the top white and grey lines.

He flips them around. From the first angle they are seen like white papers, from the 180 angle they are seen like dark gray papers. Only my opinion.

This works because we perceive things as darker when surrounded by lighter colors and things as lighter when surrounded by darker colors. Our eyes and how our brains process information isn't perfect.

Nice optical illusion, but this would almost work better if it wasn't a piece of paper viewed thru a camera, the lighting in the room and the camera skew the colors slightly. Usually the two colors would be exactly the same, but because of the lighting in the room they're slightly different.

It's a flat 2d picture on the ground with two slices of the same colour imbedded in the lighter shaded or shadow area. The 3d shading of the picture makes the colors look different. but since the top has the lighter shading the shadow shading of the pieces are actually the same color, thats the illusion.

did you notice that the 2 pieces were rotated by 180 degrees? clearly, the angle of the light reflection of the pieces were inverted. I think the surfaces of them were made of special material, which could do the trick for the colouring.

@erihsehc Actually If you take a screenshot of this video (I used the snipping tool in win 7) and then load the image in PSP (or your paint program of choice) and check the RGB values on the top and sides where the pieces are moved you'll see they're actually the same values.. I still don't get how this illusion works tho lol.

at 0:10 if you look on the <--- bottom at the white square you can so tell it's a piece and that's what he takes off. Look at the bottom of the square its not on all the way.

I don't think the optical illusion is that the pieces he's moving look like part of the thingy. I think it's that when he moves the pieces they appear to change color. He moves them from the lighter looking part on the bottom to the darker looking part on the top, and it still blends.

Wrong. It's an optical illusion. Take a screenshot of it and open it up in Photoshop and find out the number hex code of each color and you'll see its the same for "both" colors. (They're actually the same color, that's why I said "both")
