  • There are zappers that are made specifically for this console

  • It's the Vectrex's 30th birthday this year.

  • @Randomaited Yes, but it will be in November...

  • Ask your doctor if Vectrex is right for you.

  • *** VECTREX IS THE CURE FOR SOMETHING THAT ISN'T VECTREX ***

  • The Vectrex drinking game:

A shot every time he says "Vectrex!"

  • hory shet you have clean sweep dats rare

  • too no tv output cuzz that would,ve be great to connect the vectrex to a fd triniton tv,lcd screen tv or even better a hd tv.

it would,ve be really ideal for an hd tv, since you will NOT see any pixelation, since those graphics are veector based.

so even if the output was only pal or ntsc, you will average still NOT see any pixelation on a fulllhd tv, duo those amezing vector graphics.

  • There is actually an FC Twin zapper that was made for this.

  • I actually have the Vectrex. With SPIKE

  • "CAUTION:- this is not a toy". The Vectrex is serious business.

  • i use to have one of these, i kinda regret taking it down to the dump

  • The 6809 was a great little processor. It may be 8-bit, but it could do 16-bit floating-point math and was capable of full task preemption- perhaps the first microprocessor to do so.

  • everything i learned about video games, i learned from watching CGRHD, AVGN, and Irate Gamer

  • i inherited my dads that he got when he was a kid, thing is a cool look into the 80's

  • The vector graphics are insanely cool - never saw a Vectrex system in real life.

  • I always wanted one of those as a kid, but they were too expensive. Great video!

  • I play classic games, but not as classic as this one... GOTTA HAVE A VECTREX!!!!

  • i like how this is not a toy on the caution label

  • you have the best intro's

  • is it just me... or does this guy HAVE EVERYTHING?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @FlyYoshi2600 no, muhammed from qatar has everything. he just donates alot of stuff to mark

  • youre shooting a penis

  • "...that you had to plug into a TV... preferably with wood grain"

Oh man, that shit cracked me up.

  • im so happy this jewel of mine works flawlessly. need to buy the 70 in 1 cart (available without cartridgecasing).

Got 2 controllers, all works fine.

  • It's too bad you can't plug other game consoles INTO the Vectrex. Because then, you actually could play Mario Kart and Modern Warfare on the Vectrex.

  • @NintendoConsoleGamer

lol i assume you're being sarcastic.

  • @kinmanyuen As you should.

  • @NintendoConsoleGamer or dead island

  • @Firedragon41520 Exactly. Yo could play ANYTHING.

  • Who else is here just because he talks so much about this?

  • Today I just got a like new Vectrex and 6 games (7 if you count Minestorm) for one hundred and ten dollars, is that a good deal?

  • @pbloo574 from what ive seen, thats an EXTREMELY good deal. Where did you get it? Ive only been able to find the console buy itself for $500+

  • @redL33Tsauce It was just a lucky Craigslist find. The funny thing is i searched Vectrex not expecting to find anything, and it was the only listing that came up. The only bad thing is that none of the games came with the overlays but I'm sure that they can be found easily.

  • is the vectrex a heavy system?

  • BOW BEFORE THE VECTREX

  • yeas but does it play crysis?

  • I know that back in the day it used to be a great console, but what is so cool about it?

  • @MarianThePC7 For geeks the technology is cool, it doesn't draw graphics like todays systems or even old systems like the Atari 2600. That means that there are no pixels, but also no colours. Also the games are really great and it gives a very special fealing wich is specific for the Vectrex. I had one when it was new and it was awesome. There are few games but almost every one of them are good.

  • @MarianThePC7 I don't know how old you are but also the controllers are similar to what was find on arcades back in the day and to have it at home was pretty cool. The whole console is so different to anything released before or after that it makes it cool just because of that. But good and fun games and the nice atmosfer is what makes something fun and memorable, right?

  • remake it!

  • I wish modern consoles had the stow away controller style...

  • Is there anyway to play vectrex games on an hdtv, like through a 3rd party system or something like that? If anyone knows PLEASE let me know.

  • classic game room is the most relaxing, chill show on the web. nothing better then a beer and some CGR after work... except for actually playing a video game, like skyrim, while drinking a beer after work.

  • I actually want one of these now..

  • this shit probably has a ram of 0.1 kb

  • @NWA90s What's your point?

  • @bubbleheadft Problem?

  • @NWA90s Nope, just inquiring as to why you would suggest this.

  • 4:22 OMG 3D GRAPHICS!

  • and an xbox lasts less than 2 years

  • You have George Costanza-esk hands

  • This was made in 1982 with graphics like this! Im Surprised.

  • Just picked one up from a retro game store for $150. The guy even threw in Web Wars as a freebie. Merry Christmas to me =)

  • My wife bought on of these back in the day. 2 generations of our family has played with this thing. It's a like a family heirloom .

  • Vectrex is like a bigger version of a iPhone or iPad.

  • I really want a Vectrex.

  • the fact this this had a built in screen all in one console is revolutionary in itself

  • i have one of these. its literally MY FAVORITE CONSOLE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO AMAZING!!

  • lol! out of no where he pulls out an ATARI 2600 game.

  • STOP MAKING ME WANT GAME SYSTEMS IF NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AssortedBullshit lmfao!!

  • HEY! I'd hug one too if I had one again!

  • I'll get one they're only like 10$

  • @16518ethan add another zero and your spot on

but it will be worth it

  • im 11 and i want one of these. THATS how awesome this thing is

  • You have the best review for this system great console?

  • 42 people tried hooking it up to a TV

  • 42 people tried hocking it up to a TV

  • 42 people think retro game consoles suck

  • its like a sorta advanced ODESSY

  • yeah that was handy considering all the buttons saif fire

  • my vectrex's display is showing nothing but it actually produces all the sounds! i dont know what is wrong with it :S

  • awesome graphics!!

  • I will buy it for

if you give me it for 250 euros

    this console is awsome!

  • my goodness!! this console is older than i am. 30 years?! geez. my friend's xbox 360 only lasted what? 3 months?

  • lol 1: FIRE 2: FIRE 3: FIRE 4: FIRE

  • I GOT AN IDEA :o they should make a plug socket that you put batteries in... For reasons like this :D

  • nice

  • What happens if you put in a game but not the overlay?

  • @TheWolfOfLegend You just see the standard green color.

  • I had one for my tenth birthday. greatest present ever!!!!!!!

  • ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY VECTREX.

  • WHERE CAN I BUY ONE AND HOW MUCH ARE THEY

  • @MrJasonman12

    Ebay, 200$

  • Best. Console. Ever.

  • i LOVE the way the console loads on screen.

  • VALTREX???? XP

  • lol worst console EVER

  • @GMOSU22

    ...

    Not even gonna go there.

Personally, I think you can't go wrong with anything with the brand name TIGER as worst console ever.

  • @GMOSU22 I agree , I switched to PS3 because the 360 broke 3 times and thats unforgivable, they could have put better hardware in the thing but instead I had to wait around for months for it to be repaired and it still burned out in a month. Its a good console when it works and thats really a shame

  • This vectrex must have been really expensive, I never even heard of it till Mark introduced me to it, I would have loved to play Asteroids on it because the 2600 version didn''t look nearly as cool as the vector graphics on the arcade machines.

  • @MrROTD it was 100 dollars

  • @GMOSU22 how about that piece of shit 3do?

  • @GMOSU22 I am not saying that the xbox 360 is the best console as far as its life span goes but its progress. I agree the Vectrex does kick ass!!!

  • @nemocat117 i agree with you but the life span can be long if u get the XBOX 360 slim the mini one that doesnt have a red ring of death :l

  • @Primus161 ya but this does not change the fact that current gen consoles are value engineered (not meant last)

  • Wow. Even that thing outlasts any of the newer game consoles today.

  • Comment removed

  • @joejoerg It's not a thing! It's a MASTERPIECE!!! >:O

  • I buying one on Ebay now! Then I'm gonna go to McDonalds with a 40' extension cord...

  • @bencinurts do it and make a video it would be so funny

  • that looks awesome! what will it look like if you take off that screen thing

  • PLAY BF3 ON IT!

  • this hand in first two minutes is so annoying..

  • Was there any form of Pacman or MsPacman on the Vectrex?

  • This is in great condition, I love such pieces of history! I bet it's hard to find one in good condition these days.

  • 40 people don't understand the awesomeness of VECTOR GRAPHICS!

  • Wonder how many current gen consoles will be working in 30 years?

  • @junkieinformant none.

you see, currently the xbox 360 and the ps3 are basically time bombs ready to fry themselves to death. the last "ever-lasting" console I can think of is the big, grey playstation 1, that was a chunky motherf***er

  • @serginietor N64 those never break

  • @xHAZELRAHx true, that was also everything-resistant

  • I like how the back sticker says "This is not a toy". Umm, yes it is...

  • This IS just about the coolest thing ever!

  • I would have though it would be a larger cart. Something along the lines of the Neo-Geo MVS ones.

  • I have one still in the box and I have most of the games with the original plastic screen that go with each game.. What are these going for?

  • @TheLinkbann i think they go for 300

  • @TheLinkbann Search ebay.

  • I'm trying to find a Vectrex in Belgium.. if anyone is selling a working on contact me!

  • yet again i would play this over cod....any day :)

  • i'm fourteen and i think this is more fun than my xbox

  • Dude I still have my Vectrex, I never had a game cartridge for it but still had tons of fun with Minesweeper. Mine has an MB logo on it as opposed to GCE. It was my first games console, a hand-me-down that was released 4 years before I was even born. It was my only console until the N64. I love the vector graphics, I love the glow, I love the hum, I love the power dial, I love the ergonomic controller, love the analogue stick... thanks for the nostalgia trip. :)

  • I dont get the point of wasting so much money just to collect this. It doesnt look fun. If your going to get something it might as well be a N64 or SNES

  • @TheBeastinAlex you don't get it do you if you collect something you wont use it most of the time unless you wanna show of he collects them because they are pieces of history damn good history if i do say so myself

  • @codplazar Good history? This crap failed.

  • @TheBeastinAlex yea compared to the systems to today theses systems were more memorable and and pretty fun so what it failed its still a collectable piece

  • @codplazar Nothing this old brings back memories the only retro gaming item you should get is SNES, N64, PS1. Not even the NES cause all the good games were remade for snes.

  • @TheBeastinAlex ya but nes still had some classics like the original super mario bros and contra

  • @codplazar Super Mario All Stars....whoa I have Super Mario Bros 1

Beat Contra IV on DS.....whoa I have Contra 1 on DS

  • @TheBeastinAlex remakes dont count for the actual game

  • Comment removed

  • Is that buzzing sound annoying?

  • @cas99f You get used to it.

  • To be honest, I've only seen one Vectrex on real life. A few years back, a classmate brought it to college, can you believe that?

  • i still have mine and it still is working and i have a games that still work

  • I now want a Vectrex :D

  • So this is the legendary vectrex. Cool.

  • I remember when I played minestorm, after stage 13 the mines were invisible !! Crazyyy !!! My favorite game was Fortress of Narzod !!!

  • Bought one in 83 but it's broken. DAMN !!!

  • Where can I get one of these??

  • Mario360: Every Vectex game is in the arcade of the game i mentioned.....8-0

  • Mario360: the Vectrex created the Video game fall the NES brought it back up to top condition. So If I had a Vectrex I would sell it.

  • Mario360: The game in the intro was a mini-game in the arcade of the game GameCube title of Jimmy Neutron, attack of the twonkies

  • @InecomCompany

Whats The Song At The End?

  • looks super cool .

  • He loves his atari 2600!

  • I still have my Vectrex that me and my 2 brothers begged!!!, our mom to buy...Merry Christmas boys!!! YES! our mom rocks. It needs a new controller(JOYSTICK,love it) because we rock'd the sh*t out of the old one! Last summer I pulled it out of its original box and told my friends it was my new home security system and they totally bought it! Ha!...Fools! I need to get a new controller. So glad I kept this piece of classic video art. "It's like a Nintendo DS or Atari, only not at all"

  • That spaceship looks like a penis...

  • 39 people are newfags

  • The 1983 Star wars arcade game would have been perfect (minus the color - an overlay wouldnt do it justice) for the almighty Vektrex.

  • I miss the kick-ass intro song.

  • Vectrex did not hug back 39 people.

  • is it just me or the spaceship from minestorm looks like a penis? O.o

  • my girfriends big brother had this and it is now in his daughters attic gathering dust 300 miles away...no matter how many hints i've made no one seems to realise that i neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it!

  • @dannyofthededd

Just ask for it, cut the lawn or clean the attic...wink...wink.

  • @ITSFULLOFSTARS1 oh if only life was that simple...sweet youtube name by the way..

  • press 1 for spinning penis in space :P

  • Press "4". Best sound ever.

  • i wanna Vectrex.

  • 1:32-1:33

    thats what she said

  • I remember playing an atari 2600 on a woodgrain tv a ton when I was a kid.

Sure, I had a snes and nes but man, trick shot and that tank game kept me playing the 2600.

  • Atari 2600's must be plugged into your television set. Preferably with wood grain!

  • i had a vectrex when i was little , was given it when i was about 5. i stopped using it and threw it away around 11 years old. than ifound out how much i could have made for it. i than was depressed D:

  • @nos676 I hate that feeling. I wish I had known my nostalgia would beg for my old consoles. I used to have a Genesis and N64 and threw them away :(

  • its not a television its a monitor.

  • Looked on eBay and if you want one it will set you back about $100 for console and few games but I do want one nothing like it

  • Try modding this game into putting it on an HD screen.

  • Buton configurations: 1:FIRE 2:FIRE 3:FIRE 4:FIRE 6:09

  • I searched for CGR's review after watching Ashen's review of it.

  • After watching this...I want to buy a vectrex

    And the old school consoles

  • I'd sell my Xbox for this awesomeness.

  • This is the third time I've seen him hug a video game while doing a Classic Game Room review...

  • @nicholascooney because classics cant be beat

  • I still have my vectrex, lol

  • THE BEGINNING OF THIS VIDEO SEEMS SO SERIOUS!

  • The Gamecube, Dreamcast and Vectrex have to have the best start-up screens in history.

  • O i get one

  • I want one were d

  • back then in the 80's they had awesome coke names for the console like VECTREX

    sounds so awesome

  • this shows what built quality is, back in the 50s-90s things were built to last, i wonder if their will be any working xbox 360s in 30 years lol

  • @samman190 Agree so much, regarding quality. Feeling nostalgic, I pulled my Atari 5200 from 1982 out of my parents' outside garage, where it's been for at least 15 years. In spite of weathering the elements as well as a quarter inch of caked on solid crud in the cartridge slot, it works like brand new. The controllers don't, though they didn't by 1984 either. A near 30 year old system, and it acts like it just came off the shelf. Today's systems are so flimsy by comparison, cheap plastic.
