I agree with Highlander11339 this looks rushed and you are suppose to shave going with your hair no against it because that will cause irritation or razor burn

@Bradyb31 If you know what you're doing and if your skin can handle it, you can shave against the direction of your hair ONLY AFTER you shave in the direction your hair. It makes your skin extremely smooth.

And I'm black and I've done it...being black is actually relevant because our facial hair is a lot more curly and more prone to becoming ingrown hairs if we shave against the direction of our hair. But nothing bad has happened to me yet.

You just gotta be careful and take your time.

Nothing in this video looks even remotely comfortable or, dare I say, pampering. Anytime I have had a professional shave it has been a relaxing, comfortable, and soothing experience. Every man should have one REAL shave in his lifetime. This looks rushed and uncomfortable...a drive-thru McShave if you will.

Using an alum block and also using a shaving brush is illegal here in California due to cross contamination. I'm surprised I see so many shaving videos from other parts of the world where this isn't a problem

@LosFrederikos : it's a moisturiser, for your face, when you shave you take a thin layer of skin off. most people use a moisturiser after they shave so the face can be protected and also treated

Its called an Alum block, popular with Indian and English barbers I think. I know they use it at barbers in posh parts of London's West End like Mayfair and St James. It acts like a styptic pencil by being antiseptic and closes pores. You wet one side of it and rub it all over or over a cut.
