@woodenarrow inverting the subs allows u to remove any airspace out of the box that was taken up by the sub. (displacment) that way the boxes airsapace will be bigger. for instance if u have 1 10 inch woofer in a 1.0 cubic box and the sub called for 1.8 cubes u can invert the sub and u would have that 1.8 cubes now becuase the sub is not inside the box taking upspace. u may or may not need to reverse the polarity on the connections. depending on the setup

just guessing, but those are the old school hpo's correct. if so i also use to have a couple pairs back in 2004 and loved those subs. for me a 4 cuft box ported with a 35sqin port 15in long was a perfect combo between spl and sq for a pair of twelves in a common enclosure. try it out if u still have those subs, u will love it. dont forget to add the displacement of the port to the volume of box, but dont bother adding any more volume for the subs displacement or it will be off the specs i used.

Actually the biggest reason to invert-mount your woofers is for cosmetic appeal. However, another reason just as important is enclosure displacement. A box calling for 1cuft is calculated with the magnet in the box. So if you face the magnet out, not only do you have to calculate the displacement of the woofer, but also the displacement inside the cone to remove from your enclosure, allowing you to make it smaller.

no i didnt say tens can not hit a 148.2 ....since thorshammer1488 does a 150db.....i do believe a trunk setup will not hit a 148.2 db....now if the subs are sealed from the trunk facing inwards....then yes its possible......but a 148.2 with 2 10's will take a good 5,000rms minimum to get unless your hitting at 50-60hz which is a joke..... plus the typical person does not run 5,000 watts on 2 10's. And i would imagine someone who hits a 148.2 who have a video up to prove it
