Eh, not what I would consider the very best match. But I'm not really a strong evanescence fan, only like it once in awhile.
Although people think I'm weird because I don't cry at ofelia's death. But I do cry when the docter is shot in the back, that scene just always hits a nerve with me.
im still confused with the movie, was it all in her head, or was it real, it like shows her dying but then you see her in the throne room i was like wth!!!
It's up to you to decide, really. Del Toro left it open-ended instead of spoon-feeding all the answers to the audience. I personally believe Ofelia had an incredible imagination, and the "real-life fairy-tale" was all in her head - her way of escaping from the horrible situation she was in.
It can be viewed lot's of ways... I see it as, her fairy tales were an escape.. yet she did die, and her version of "Heaven" was the end ... with her Father (God).. her mother, etc. I think she was reading the book about the princess (that is told at the very beginning)..and she made herself the princess...
@buffycharmedangel102 relly? im 1 2 interpret messages in movies in alot of ways but theres a few things in this movie that made me think the fairytale was real in this 1 and also i think she went 2 the underworld at the end u kno fairies a Faun all the pagan signs of the underworld wich in paganism is a GOOD place
This movie is incredible sad, the reality showed there is so horrible. And at the end, we realise everything was Ophelia´s fantasy, is was more fantasy than reality, a beautiful fantasy to help her carry on that reality and death... So so so sad. But at the same time very realistic movie.
Gosh that Pale Man is the most creepy thing I have seen LOL
I agree. I felt bad that Ophelia had to witness the horrible things that her stepfather did. I thought it was interesting that she created her own world to escape from the cruel reality of the real world. This movie made me cry at the end.
I also think its real! The world she was seeing just wasn't the one that belongs to humans so she had to leave her human body behind to go back were she belonged! Its also said at the end of the movie that her final task before she could return was to shed her own blood instead of that of an innocent, thus proving that she wouldn't sacrifice someone else to escape although she had to go through all those bad things!
'grims fairy tales' in your face today and very well done.Metaphor for 'this that and the other' and just wonderfull.Enchanting and haunting. Watchable and hideawayablefrom together. Beautiful work.Glad to 'experience' Pan's labyrinth.
I think I did cry a little bit, but the movie I nearly died in when watching would have to be tied between "The Chronicles of Narnia" (it brought my dreams to life!) and "Atonement". Ah, good movies.
That dad was a hero. Those bastards werent hunting rabbits and he knew it, he handled the way i would have. They did him wrong in the end.

My favorite line in the moive is where the father says "You have spared your blood rather than the blood of an innocent." LOVE IT!

You got that quote backwards. Being that your a blood vampire i dont know if you meant to get it twisted or what.

But, many people see it a different way.

Me too. But I read GUillermo del Toro do believe the fantasy world of Ofelia is real, you can see hints in the movie it can be real.
Though, the ending is open for anyone to think it´s real or not.
I have to think it´s real to not fell SO sad at the end ;)
This video is so sad! But well made!
