This same type of prohibition on filming and entry into the Central Tabulator room is rampant in CA and specifically in Riverside County. It is amazing that local officials believe they have higher authority than State laws requiring "sunshine" or transparency. What is it they so desperately want to hide? Could it be --- vote manipulation - otherwise known as election fraud? Great job Russ and Simon - keep up the outstanding documentation of the waning days of democracy in America.
something seems shady if they don't want the cameras to watch. the man who didn't want to see the law should rethink his job... and why did all these people mistreat the woman who wants to record?
This may not be the election official's reason, but there may be a threat to voter privacy when you allow cameras, since these systems are often so poorly designed that you can tell in which order the votes where cast.
They should also prohibit camera phones, since people could sell votes that way (it's been done in other countries).
Stephen Spoonamore, a noted cyber hacking expert insists the last two elections were stolen. Also, SAIC reported Diebold grossly underrated the glitches of their machines - anyone can hack them.

Rubbish. These are tabulated totals which come from the precinct in bulk. There is no way to tie sum of votes to any one voter.

We don't want recording of certain numbers on the screen that can cause security issues.

Under the LAW cameras are legal in any place "that has no reasonable expectation of privacy".
Unless they're counting the votes naked in their bedroom--it's legal to film.
