Thank you! This was really fun. Obstacles in my house were that it was too cold, we live up north and tend to keep our temp in the house between 58-65, I had lots of tiny balls at first and thought well hmmm I bet if I nuke this for a couple of secs in the microwave it'll soften, so I added a little bit of crisco and threw the whole thing in the microwave, and when it was warm I put it back in the mixer and wa-la it worked!!
This is awesome and super easy, I just wish I found it before I ordered glycerine, I made it and I only made a half batch just to try it and it comes out great, thanks a bunch...:)
@littlechef9 I feel the same way about crisco it's kinda gross. An alternative crisco is butter, but butter can melt so its best to use crisco. (sadly)
Very different the the recipes I've seen, now I am tempted to use both of them to see if theirs a difference. The main difference is no shortening was used and they used only a bowl for mixing, no kneading. Hmm. I'll have to try.
my first try was a complete desaster..the fondant was so hard and dry...it had to much sugar..so i think 2 lbs is to much...so then my second try y put 3/4 of the 2 lbs pound andd it was perfect...
(itstaylorproductions) if u are referring to the marshmallow cream/fluff, it will not work for fondant. It's vital to have the actual marshmallows, sorry.
ok, so do you still need to warm up the marshmallows if you have the "already melted" cream version of it, or do you have to warm it up so it will mix better? please answer im tryin to make a cake for Christmas
I made this before and it was great. Thank you.I am planning to make little animals from rice krispy treats, then cover them in fondant. Could I store them in tupperware to keep before using them on the cake?
Hello, Workoutchamp. Nice video. I noticed that before you put in the shortening that you already had something inside the bowl. Is this more powdered sugar in addition to the 2 lbs added after you added the shortening?
Thank you for being kind enough to share your knowledge and brave enough to endure the world's critiques and criticisms. I hope you receive enough positive to continue helping those of us who appreciate your effort. Be blessed in your endeavors.
@everythingbyemily23 its a fine powder but sometimes there are little hard clumps in the powder so sometimes its best to shift the powder to take out all the little clumps.
So I finally jumped in to make my first batch of fondant. Seems my mixer bowl was not quit big enough. I did like you said and had the kneading arm up a bit from the bottom. It started spilling out so I went to turn the mixer off. Instead I put it on high!.. ohh yea.. you got it.... and so did I... ALL OVER THE KITCHEN! Looked like an episode of I Love Lucy... Guess I need some practice...LMBO Thanks for the recipe tho..
i wanna make halloween cookies using fondant, could i leave the fondant out over night? if i make the cookies n cover it with fondant can i put it in the frig or not? well it melt or dry up, how many days before can i make the fondant before hallowen?
Crisco is the brand, the product is vegetable shortening.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I was using a different recipe, and literally glued my hands together in a ball of would-be fondant LOL My husband found this video again for me and together we were able to unstick our kitchen and actually get a ball of fondant for my efforts. At one point, my daughter came into the kitchen and asked if I needed help "cleaning the glue" off my hands lol.
ive seen fondant done this way just not with water in the marshmallows. then ive seen other vids that do add water to them. does the water really matter?
awesome! I'm going to try this. I bet it does taste way better than the commercial stuff.
I was wondering if it tastes like marshmallows though? I like them, but not sure I would want my cake tasting like a marshmallow, and I noticed you said it could be flavored.
Whoever is a first timer making fondant. USE THIS RECIPE. I made a 2 birthday cakes one with purple into the white fondant which made it a cool purple tiedye and i did that with blue as well. After just roll it out and spread over your cake. Thankyou this really helped my friends and I!
@hirashuku Yes you HAVE TO sift it, that basically takes out all the sugar clumps & your fondant wont be as bumpy. Using a mixer really wont do anything like that!
@jmugrad1 i have a little question did when i made mixture can i let it rest in the refregirator all night and used in the morning? and when u cover a cake with this mixture can i put it in the refrigerator ? or should i let it out side. i am new in this so i new little help :)
@Cchogardepony2 I've made this recipe before and when I mix the ball of fondant, I just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and keep it on the counter. If it is stiff, you can put it in the microwave for a few seconds to get it pliable again. And once you cover your cake, leave it out at room temp or else you'll cause condensation when you take it out of the fridge.
does anyone know if this fondant is soft or hard once it expose to air? bcoz im needing a soft ones for making a cupcakes? much appreciated for ur reply. thnk u!
Crisco isn't all that important, all it's really doing is keeping the mixture from being too overly sticky. With or without Crisco it's gonna be sticky soooooo...not important, but it does help. Also @blublu1029, Wear food handling gloves or powderfree exam gloves to mix in the food coloring. :)
