hah, I forgot about Faxanadu! I was totally hooked on this game for a good while as a kid.

once I mis-copied a password and entered it incorrectly, the game accepted it though and I had an inventory with several removed-from-beta items in it... some Orb of Something, and a weapon I couldn't equip... I thought I had discovered some wild mystery items as kid... later realized it was just leftover bits of programming that were removed from the final game

This sound gave me shivers - I remember playing this game as a kid - it was the first I ve ever competed - super mario 1 followed a month after or so - these kind of games were fantastic, like the zelda-series or check out battle of olympus - games were actually pretty fascinating at these days.

What many don't realize about mist world is that there is a secret door high above. You need to use WING BOOTS and then recite your mantra as you fly upside down. If the mantra is said correctly you will hear the voice of extraterrestrials. And it goes "This is a test, this is only a test of the emergency broadcast system". Only then will you redeem yourselves in the eyes of the evil ones.

Mist world was so uselessly convoluted! Still this game was one of the best in its era.

I remember going through the door and entering the mist world, it was the most annoying world of all, but it was interesting.

The monsters were hella annoying and positioned in cheap areas, still, this game rocks.
