  • I am going to be singing this as a solo on a cd soon :D

  • Well, one of the only things I might like about myself is how I both can enjoy Lady Gaga and this! Give me pretty much any genre and I may like it, as long as it's not "danseband" musikk... :)

  • wonderful

  • nice :-)

@Veruska276 : tak si to stáhni ne ?

  • Hi, it´s a beautiful song...Can you send me a this song on my e-mail? veronika.hucova@seznam.cz

  • In her early Nightwish recordings, her vibrato was faster paced. I wonder if she slowed it down on purpose, or whether it was just a natural occurence as her voice continued to develop?

  • I really enjoyed! :)

  • I sang this at a canto exam and listening to Tarja I feel like crying because I ramember all the feelings singing this song at an exam produced XD I totally love the way she sings it, it's like she ads substance to it XD

  • Her voice is amazing whether she sings rock or classical pieces. Love her.

  • i think she is awesome in everything she does

  • perhaps not the voice this song is meant for but still beautiful

  • Oh, Tarja with a baroque-aria.....I do not think she should use her voice for this. Her voice is better for romantic repertoire, maybe? The baroque way of singing is way more flexible and just....different than this, more "acrobatic" in a way, even at times staccato, and nor flowing at all times, like Tarja does it. I find it strange that she does not know this, or does it the right way, since she is trained. But....maybe she just cannot? :) I am only "half-trained", any trained singers here?:)

  • Jag älskar dig Tarja

  • *.* <3

  • 8 people love reggaeton and lady gaga

  • @gongzhu26 I disliked it because this aria is meant to be for a Soprano 1 not a Mezzo. Plus that's not the way to sing this.

  • @JoseCarlosCristiano Tarja is not a mezzo she is a full lyric soprano.

  • @Igloofucker Well this is not the voice color for a Liric Soprano, her voice is too deep, she can hit soprano notes but that doesn't make her a Soprano, the notes you can hit doesn't put you in any voice category, is the color you have and the pitch. For an example of the pitch for a Liric Soprano please try to hear Monserrat Cabale or Sarah Brightman you will see the difference, for Mezzosoprano try to listen Simoné Simons from Epica

  • @JoseCarlosCristiano

Tarja did 2 conservatories and she was categorized by real professionals as lyrical soprano, si I don't know what you are arguing about.

Also, the fact that she does her own interpretation of classical songs seems to "friction" with some stuck up people who have nothing to do with music.

I've hear her live performing Traviata and arias meant for coloratura sopranos with great ease so don't confuse the way she chose to interpret this with overall ability.

  • @MrNakhrul If I might put in two cents in agreement with you I'd like to add some clarification on this:

The color of the voice has nothing to with mezzo/soprano- that IS determined by range and where in their voice they are comfortable. Soubrette/lyric/spinto/dramatic are all within soprano, and are by size or volume (though soubrette is is generally lighter/younger). This is at least what I remember.

I personally enjoy this song in a darker tone. Like MrNakhrul said, it's interpretation.

  • @JequirityBlue

    Thanks.

Imho Tarja is atm spinto soprano, based on her range, tessitura and the natural squillo she posseses.

These are technicalities though. What impresses me is the beauty of her voice and the fact that all the training did not depersonalize her timbre, she manages to infuse it with her own personality.

  • @gongzhu26 Hey I love reggaeton! And I ADORE Tarja Turunen! As for Lady Gaga, not so much.

  • Comment removed

  • @gongzhu26 haha i like gaga and i love tarja what to do now

  • @gongzhu26 Reggaeton is not so bad, just another kind of music man.

  • @gongzhu26 I'm pretty sure Gaga enjoy this as well! Personally, I enjoy both. Haven't you watch ''Marry The Night'' yet! It is an absolute masterpiece!

  • Thanks so much for uploading this!

  • She should sing in an Opera House

  • Good voice by a nice women. Light lyric soprano...

  • Her lyrical quality is good enough for a metal context, but IMO she has some flaws for singing (comparatitevely with real classical singers of that scene) real classical pieces..... anyway i like her

  • @gomongio I agree 100%.

  • @RagingQuietFury thanks for understanding my point... i was not trying to discredit her at all, it's only that i've heard classical singers long enough to recognize real classical singers or not... for metal with classical influences she's real great anyway

  • Would it be wrong if I would go to one of her opera concerts and randomly starting to headbang? Hehe I belive she would appreciate it :D

  • dorm next door to me is playing dubstep really loud, this I played louder.

  • from where do u got this?

  • simply Tarja is Tarja!!!!

  • Sing my angel. Sing for me.

  • this is off topic, but to clear up some confusion that seems to be occuring in the comment bar

    1) tarja is a lyric soprano, she even says so herself

    2) a lyric soprano is a middle range soprano voice with a warm, feminine timbre

    3) a dramatic soprano is a completely different voice type. it is a HUGE voice. ghena dmitrova is a great example of a real dramatic soprano

    4) voice types are not just there to "put people in a box" ask any opera singer who's had a career for more than a decade

  • @TheLordsegomo are you talking bout my remark? I'll make you know that I'm French, I know what I'm talking about then.

  • @Orlyane French translations are never good. Beautiful English is never well translated in French, sometimes even BADLY done. I guess they make some efforts for Opera but it's never as perfectly done as in English.

  • @PingouinBleu1 For example,: try to pronounce her name correct ....maybe then you'll see how dumb this remark was.

  • The pomposity of some commentators is absulutely stunnung! A few lessons, and you become a critic, a few listens and you become an expert. Please, please, just listen and enjoy or turn off and be silent!

  • Is there an album of Tarja's classical works? I am even more blown away by her classical pieces and performances!

  • Poor Master Bach....to see his work being mutilated like this....

  • @VforVespa Seriously???

  • where is this from..

    I mean album.

  • She's the reason I started to sing five years ago... Love her voice very much! Tnx Tarja! <3

  • 1:58 goosebumps. tears.

  • great song

  • Not the best version Ive heard of this, but her voice is amazing...it was a little slow for me...but overall it was OKAY!

  • Album? Cd? where is it from? It's sooo beautiful

  • @PingouinBleu1

This is on her solo CD named 'Henkays Ikuisuudesta' :)

  • I'm very disappointed wih her singing in this aria...I mean I loved when she was in nightwish and everything..back then she had a better technique when she first started with her operatic studies but then she seemed a little lasy to sing opera...and now she is just not good enough to sing operatic roles at all ......I still love her please don't get me wrong but she is not good enough for opera in the present time....

  • @badbadruberpig You're soooo wrong! When she started singing in Nightwish, she was a mezzo-soprano & that's why her voice was more dark than it is nowadays. For now, her voice got better & she's full operatic lyric soprano. Now, her voice sounds much clear, high & soft. Yes, I agree, she's not ready for opera. She's qualified as the chamber singer, not the opera singer. But, trust me, she doesn't want more than 2 lessons in the operatic technique. This aria doesn't want dark voice, it's perfect!

  • @potterclubtv ...c'mon please...it seems that you don't have any idea of what a good opera technique is..and besides this is not perfection, why do you guys worship her so much...she used to be great at singing but now...you need to listen a little bit o more to opera arias..and bel canto..to see what I 'm talking about..

  • @badbadruberpig Not everyone can sing with bel canto technique. let's stop doubt ;)

  • @badbadruberpig @badbadruberpig You are complete right! some people are so used to pop music and all that garbage these days it's just a parody of music... all those money maker machine, they have no respect for what have been written with intellect and emotions for centuries. This Tarja can't sing this aria, a soprano is a soprano one of the most noble and compromised registers in music, who cares how many popular or how many fans this Tarja is getting, SHE IS NOT A SOPRANO.

  • @Nacidodelmar lol! Tarja is a soprano. She is a classically trained singer but there is no need to be classically trained to be a soprano/mezzo/alto... Britney Spears, for example is a soprano,,,

  • @IvanTsarina you are right......it all depends how your voice is trained ^_^ That's why you can study different subjects like Jazz, modern pop, classical etc......^_^ soprano, mezzo etc is only to put your voice range in a category ^_^

Love this song, I really love to hear Tarja in classical songs

  • @Nacidodelmar

I would say she is a lyrical soprano, the type of soprano who has got the biggest "volume" of voice, which permits her to "sound like" a mezzo soprano ^__^ I don't know if I am clear enough enough ~

Anyway, the second part especially is too jerky, with the "ecce, ecce", which should be softer, I think. But that is quite a good version ; though this doesn't really match her voice. Something a bit deeper should fit better. =D

  • @orlyane That is completely false. In what world does the lyric voice have the biggest amount of sound? Maybe in the vocally uneducated world it does, but in the real world that's just complete foolishness.

Though she is a full lyric, your comment is still filled with fallacy.

  • @tenor220 Well, in the wolrd where I take my singing lessons, and especially in FRENCH, we've got something I could translate lyrical soprano, but I don't know if it MEANS the same in english. SO instead of attacking people with that kind of commentary,(moreover if the commentary was using "WOULD", showing that I am not claiming what I say) you should enjoy the video. And please, I am not a "professional", but I took lessons for four years, so Im not exactly a "vocally uneducated person".Thanks

  • @orlyane Do you comprehend the difference between a dramatic and lyric soprano?

  • @tenor220 Yup, but I wouldn't exactly know how to qualify Tarja's voice. So I made a mistake saying "the biggest" volume of voice, because the dramatic soprano has, hasn't it ? But this was not a reason to attack me in your first comment. You could just have said "the dramatic has a deeper and bigger voice" rather than qualifying me of an ignorant, and I would have learnt something that evening, and you would have made an interesting comment. Don't you think ? =)

  • @orlyane I could have chosen that route, but found it more entertaining to address you in an abrasive manner.

  • @tenor220 That's VERY clever, really.

  • @orlyane Who said anythng aout trying to be clever?

  • The video is a spectacle! We believe that the text received Bach's music more suitable for the declaration of Mary! Congratulations on posting.

  • I'm trying out for this song in choir and I almost screamed when I saw this.

  • Tarja!

    Fantastic!!!!!!!! Thank you!

    From Hungary

  • I like it

but it could be a bit faster

  • stay in rock pleaaase

  • @vasrach she's opera singer ;)

  • @Villemo16 no she is not. have seen her in many opera or oratorio productions? she uses some classical technics in her singing and she does that really well in rock/metal music. I'm a fan really.

but she can't sing classical. no way she could stand in an opera house and perform a role.

  • @vasrach eh... niby fan a gowno wiesz... jezeli ktos studiuje spiew operowy to ...Tak jest wokalistka operowa bo tego sie cale zycie uczyla i w tym byla najlepsza...i zawsze bedzie :P

  • simply tarja :)

  • Please credit the master of this piece, namely Johann Sebastian Bach. Thank you.

  • @azraelsnemesis Bach wrote this? Does it go by the same name?

  • @azraelsnemesis Bach was a true genius and my idol. thank you for giving credit were credit is due ^_^

  • @cupcake07061 and tarja kiss ass :D

  • @demianne9 I lol'd

  • oh, I love it ~~<3 Tarja is the best

  • @demianne9

    Oh snap!

  • Just when I think Tarja couldn't possibly impress me more than she already has, I come across one of her performances I;ve never heard before and realize there's even more to the ladies talent than I ever imagined. This was fantastic!

  • The album cover looks so undeniably narcissistic- I hope I never decide to go in this direction. :X

    Her diction's precise.

  • I really didn't think Tarja would be able to rise to this song, since I've only ever heard her covered by the instruments in Nightwish -- but she really did a fantastic job. It's perfect for her voice type. Way to go, lady!

  • My singing teacher gave me this to sing!!! *_*

  • New words need to be invented to describe this. Silly common words just don't seem enough!

  • everyone who say´s this is shit has shit in his head :P

love her and her amazing voice *__*

TARJA FOR EVER AND EVER AND EVER ^^

=) thanks for reading this shit xD

  • @TheReginamatermoon te daría 20 "thumbs up" más si pudiera.
