  • right when he started talking about "incident"... "earthquake in India"... my heart dropped... i love youuuu O___O <3

  • His penis is TINY.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY

Come on man.. Why even post that type of comment?

  • 3:16 - Steven describes something that is only possible in 4 or more spatial dimensions

  • I hate to say it, I mean I'm a huge fan of Mikael Akerfeldt but I think I like this song better when Steven Wilson sings it.

  • @RammsteinTranslator

    Ok nevermind wrong video.

  • I'm 22. I wrote a guy once from new york, a poet, I suppose he never had a girlfriend, I knew in my head the other day that I had talked to someone interesting and something about a band. Then I remembered the poet I talked to that was madly in love with porcupine tree, I went on the web and looked and looked for the poor guy, no luck. Now I find Steven quite fascinating as well, but he's twice my age, but still smart and pretty, but I'm ranting sorry.

  • Is this reporter Dutch?

  • DOES HE WATCH PORN?

  • I like taco's.

  • you can just hear the dutch accent of the interviewer.. :)

  • can go gay for steven wilson

  • Anybody who says he wants to make a movie "documentary" about himself is way egocentric.

  • I've heard that SW is intelligent but very arrogant

    Is that true?

  • @gogolplex74 He's honest. And some people can't handle that.

  • As much as I respect the man, his eloquence and his astute opinions, I just wish he'd laugh sometimes.

  • This video has zero dislikes. Fuck yeah.

  • if someone dislikes this, they will be struck down by karma

  • Hello everyone. For about six months ago (I think) I saw a fantastic interview with Steven Wilson where he talked about how young people experience their lives as irrelevant because they are aware of the fact that there are 6,5 billion people on Earth - therefore they find it extremely important to be famous. I have literally spent hours looking for it without succes. If anyone in here knows what interview I'm talking about PLEASE tell me - it will be very appreciated!

    Steven Wilson is amazing!

  • i'm just gettin into these guys. i got the album the sky moves sideways, its pretty good, very mellow. which album should i get next if i am a fan of progressive metal, what do you guys recommend?

  • @persbol

I'm a huge Dream Theater fan (Well, I was... let's see how they do without Portnoy) and my favorite Porcupine Tree albums are:

    1. In Absentia

    2. Fear Of a Blank Planet

    3. The Incident

    4. Deadwing

    5. Stupid Dream

Harrison's drumming is very very creative and if you are a drummer, you will want to listen to PT on a good system so that you can hear every single time he even taps against something. His timing is an art.

  • @1424241 i love dream theater too haha. thanks man

  • @1424241

DT is getting Marco Minneman now

    i'm expecting good stuff : )

  • @persbol

If you're here because you like DT or other prog metal acts, then you should check out PT's later albums, meaning In Absentia and onwards. The Incident and Fear of a Blank Planet are probably the heaviest.

However if you're here because you're a prog fan, I would recommend their older material, i.e. Lightbulb Sun and earlier. For psychedelic-ish, see Sky Moves Sideways and earlier.

If you love both (like me), anything is great! But I'd say a good place to start is Deadwing.

  • @RICbass78 yea i checked out deadwing and in absentia, fuckin incredible, also checked out sky moves sideways, very interesting. i definitely wanna check out fear of a blank planet because alex lifeson and robert fripp helped colaborate on it apparently. thanks man for th advice

  • his face reminds me of tom cruise

  • he seems simple but when u think how he gets the idea its really complicated and when he writes his songs about the idea he gets its more complicated

  • Para os fãs brasileiros e/ou que falam português, a tradução desta entrevista no meu tumblr chamado "talesaboutnowhere". Procurem lá.

  • Cool that cover thing!

  • @LiveOnQueen I just thik good music should be listen...

  • SW is a genius. End of.

  • heehee hes soo britshhhh@!!! xD

i giggle every time he says Porcupine tree

  • I have day dreams about night things regardng that man.

  • @jolleygoodstuff I lol'd

  • Michael Jackson got scraped. Damn that was harsh.

  • @JTNugget Yeah... kinda harsh.

I do understand His point regarding the Media, though.

  • Look at SpicyDonuts and talesfromthepit fighting like an old married couple.

  • I hate these damn advertisements, but i do have to say the one with the barbeque looked delicious.

  • A homeless man who constantly aspires to be known by the name Bat Sheva.

  • Believe it or not, but my teacher is a friend of Lasse Hoile (music-video director for Porcupine Tree)

Gotta be the coolest teacher i have ever had!

I don't know Porcupine Tree, in fact i only know their name because of my teacher, so i'll just YouTube search them right now!

I have a feeling these guys are incridibly great!

  • I was so fortunate to meet Steven and talk to him and He is Exactly like this- just a guy that you might have known all your life! very gracious too!

  • @talefromthepit Thanks for sharing your stupid opinion.

  • @markn1986 Anytime. Fingers crossed they do not sue you like they have other "fans".

  • @talefromthepit Everyone is entitled to having his own opinion. I´ll grant you that! I don´t know Steven Wilson in person and I do not care about the fact that he might be very careful about "pirated" material. It is his right to do so, he created that music and I´m very glad to part from my money to get his recordings or buy some live footage.

I do know that he is a perfectionist and therefore could never allow some lesser quality material to be published. He IS a genius, no doubt about it!!

  • @talefromthepit Goddamn, what'd he ever do to you? You make this a personal fight. I'll just take you as a troll.

  • @InstinctualJealousy well for one he hit me with copyright violation for simply trying to review his show (yes, I had permission to take video in the venue).

  • @talefromthepit Fuck your whore mom who shit you out of her cunt.

  • @SpicyDonuts Dude, do your research. My whore mom had a c-section.

  • @talefromthepit Nah, they wanted to but couldn't, fearing if they did that lard would come gushing out. So they pulled you out of her ass.

  • @SpicyDonuts I wonder if that's why I am such a fan of anal sex? Hmmmm, you may be onto something Sir SpicyDonuts

  • @talefromthepit I wasn't aware that you enjoyed being sodomized.

  • @SpicyDonuts Well you know, a cute gals tongue or finger has never been an issue down there. Never taken a cock. Well, this Steve Wilson asshole fucked me. What a giant fucking douche. Oh and his band blows.

  • @talefromthepit You don't have to like PT. But Steven Wilson has more talent in his little finger than your entire band has combined. I'm sure PT could play simple bar chords as fast as they could and scream into the microphone like he was being butt raped by a centaur. Your shit band could never dream of making music as beautiful and sophisticated as PT. This music actually tugs on the heart.

  • @SpicyDonuts That tug you feel is a heart attack. My advise is to log out of World of Warcraft, cut Hot Pockets out of your diet and exercise.

  • @talefromthepit Even if I was a fat smelly bastard (like your fans) it doesn't change the fact that you are not as muciscally gifted as Steven Wilson.

  • @SpicyDonuts It's not about being musically gifted. It's about being good to the people who allow you to make music for a living. Steve Wilson is anything but.

  • @talefromthepit Well I just listen to his music I don't know who he is as a person. I'm just arguing their talent, because you of all people say they blow.

  • holy shit! me and steven are almost exatcly alike,we both are very passionate about music, and love to create it,and we both love to film things and are both interested in the film industry! and both are names start with an S lol,GO STEVEN!

  • True about the media brainwashing.......Half the world starving isnt news.....Cheryl Cole at deaths door, 'drastically underweight' by losing half a stone ( she took her extentions out ! : 0 ) ....now THATS news!

  • I have thought this same thing...the deaths of millions vs the death of one. We are easily manipulated by numbers and presentation.. It's nice to see someone so thoughtful and intelligent, and all of these ideas meld together and oozes from his music...so rich and complex.

  • Steven Wilson is.... like... incredible.

  • dude's a genuis

  • who can NOT love him? i adore this man a really interesting person, amazing musician and even great producer!

  • He's 42...

  • He can't be over 36-37 y/o. yet he sounds like a man who has lived longer then most people.

    Interesting man.

  • Steven Wilson is a towering intellect, I would absolutely love to sit and discuss cinema with him - why isn't someone giving him money to develop his full-length film projects?

  • me toooooooo!!!

  • I love this face at 2:06

''...what the fuck are you trying to say?''

  • i wanna be his hair ´cause he touches it every moment !!!!! uahhhhhhhh

  • It´s a pleasure to listen to this man

  • "In Porcupine Tree, do you have this kind of con-" "NO...no"

    LOL.

    Fox.

  • Boy, at the 4:20 point, he is surely right!

I wish Porcupine Tree had the success they deserve (in the US). The music is so well-written and played.

  • hehe, 420 is a wonderful number

  • @wvdavidr

It's funny how Lady CaCa, Rhiana, Justine Timberfake, and countless others who have no talent in their useless bodies get all of this attention and recognition, while bands like Porcupine Tree get overlooked because they aren't mainstream. Great band who gets no respect from the industry.

  • @morbidanjel44

thats great. time is repeating its self.

Rush went through the same thing, and years later they got the respect and attention they deserve far too late in the game. and then EVERYONE finally loves them. well this is the way i puy it, i've asked so many people if they have heard of PT, (of corse the answer is no) so i keep them to myself, kinda like my own epic secret. :D

  • @LiveOnQueen

trust me, the people i work with have no idea who PT is. i guess that's a good thing. but believe me when i tell you, i try to spread the gospel about this group, they are just too fucking awesome. in the midst of getting their entire catalogue. especially their earlier stuff with Gavin redoing the drum parts.

  • @morbidanjel44

yea, in a way its a good thing, hah. but also people are ignorant when i try to get them to listen.

*sigh* i guess good music will have to be listened by the true people who deserve it.

  • one more reason for he being my hero!

  • he got an earring!!!!!!! nooooooooooo

  • what's wrong with earing?:D

  • Comment removed

  • WOW

    FI FIUUUUUUUUUUU

    MUAMUAMUAAA!

  • 1:56 lol

  • i like what he said about the media and about the michael jackson thing

  • Agreed. Its strange to see how the majority of people didnt care about MJ before his death. When he did die, he became a hero.

    Kind of iffy there.

  • Yes! I agree. He is one of the very few musicians who's opinion about anything I love to listen to. Not only music I mean.

  • I love you.

  • I've never thought of him as pompous. If I had to describe Steven Wilson with one word, that word would be "geniune." In every interview I've heard from him, regardless of the subject matter, he comes across as genuine. I'd love to sit and talk with the guy for a couple of hours and I can say that about very few musicians I respect.

  • @Astrohman Michael Åkerfeldt? Fantastic musician, and Jonas Bjerre from Mew.

  • People say that he's pompous and I can see why, but there's a really simple explanation behind why he's viewed as such. As people we always say that we want others to speak their mind and not hold back even if it's offensive, but as soon as someone does that they're lambasted. Steven Wilson speaks his mind. You may not like what he has to say, but nonetheless he is the real deal. What you see is what you get. I especially like how he didn't lie about not being on the same page with the band.

  • i wana live in his brain

  • @SkipperDiscoLand Well I'm sure you don't want...... it's curse to have such a genial brain:D I know what I'm talking about, I was born same date as him:D

    (of course i'm joking, probably:D)

  • @SkipperDiscoLand

That's fucking hilarious Jajaja Two Thumbs Up for this comment ^^

  • @SkipperDiscoLand

    Jupiter Island

  • He is the best musician in this world!

  • he is god

  • Cheers to FaceCulture for getting up a Steven Wilson interview.
