You can't remake such a Masterpiece, I listened to Let the right one in about twenty times in three weeks and I only needed one listen from Let me in to see clearly how it was messed up, every important points were missing and this is more than a remake, it is pratically identic! Remake is only for money that is all.
I agree with this, but in actuality, the remake was pretty fucking great. It's a great companion piece to the original, which is still better, but the remake doesn't tarnish the original one at all.

Loved the first film. Loved the novel. The new film is based on the novel, so it isn't really a remake at all. The cast of LMI is impressive, and if you watch the trailer carefully it seems some of the more disturbing subplots from the novel are now in the new film. I will judge the new film on its own merits.

This is a tale of two young lovers whose only similarity is that they live harsh lives as outcasts. In the end, they find that the only thing that matters is their love for each other. This movie is dark and gritty and at the same time beautiful and very moving. It's a must watch, but only watch it if you are above 18, lot of rated R content.
I have to say, im ready for the remake, because itd be nice to see it in 2 different versions. although the remake probably wont beat the original but still im ready!

If you only watch the remake and ALSO not read the book...you should really feel bad about yourself because both the book and movie is amazing, the story, the ACTORS (OMG!!!!!), the scenary , how it's filmed...it's poetic and beuatiful.
Search for "let the right one in John Ajvide Lindqvist" on the net and I'm sure you'll find a online book store :) I myself am swedish and have read it in swedish so I'm not familar with american book stores :)

The point of the remake is money. They can make a whole lot of more money if they take the story and turn in into a mainstream film for a wide audience in america who would'nt watch a foreign language film. That's all there is, and Matt Reeves can talk all he wants about how touched he was about the movie and all that, remaking films is a matter of money, period.

Funny Games is one of the only justified remakes. Mainly because it's remade by its original director, and it's a shot for shot remake.
REC is amazing. I still need to see Let the Right one In.
