  • You can't remake such a Masterpiece, I listened to Let the right one in about twenty times in three weeks and I only needed one listen from Let me in to see clearly how it was messed up, every important points were missing and this is more than a remake, it is pratically identic! Remake is only for money that is all.

  • swede here, id like to throw my brothers a line trollhunter(nowegian) and rare exports(finnish) are awesome and a similar type of movie.

btw, if you want to watch a sort of brutal realism the martin beck series are pretty good.

  • I agree with you this one was much better.

  • I aree with you after seeing this it made the american one look like crap

  • I agree with this, but in actuality, the remake was pretty fucking great. It's a great companion piece to the original, which is still better, but the remake doesn't tarnish the original one at all.

  • (continuing from previous comment)

this movie the praise and attention it deserves, increasing the amount of people who like the film (I am reluctant to use the term "fans") which will possibly landslide the amount of fans Twilight has, putting that abomination of a film/novel in the darkness where it belongs.

Anyway, you people aren't even giving these remakes a chance yet. Isn't it just possible for a film remake made in the current decade to actually be a good movie? Please tell me.

  • A reason why America would remake this film is because, like you said, it had a limited release and it got overshadowed by an inferior film with sparkling vampires and cheap Devil's Rejects wannabes, so it wouldn't receive as much attention as it should have done. A remake of the film (actually it's not really a remake, it's more like another adaptation of the novel) made by American film companies will most likely achieve a world wide release, allowing more people from across the world to give

  • Loved the first film. Loved the novel. The new film is based on the novel, so it isn't really a remake at all. The cast of LMI is impressive, and if you watch the trailer carefully it seems some of the more disturbing subplots from the novel are now in the new film. I will judge the new film on its own merits.

  • I agree that Quarantine sucked. But I would have never ever even heard of Rec if it hadn't been remade. The same with Let the Right One in. I'm about to watch it for the first time after, you guessed it, hearing about the remake. Now don't get me wrong, these movies do NOT need to be remade. But I'm glad they are remade. For the sole reason that I can discover a great movie after the masses (You aren't the only one that feels that way, surprised? I'm not) create a stir about the remakes.

  • by the way quarantine was awesome and scary as shit, not saying REC wasn't but in my oppinion watching REC didn't scare me as much because the entire time you are reading the subtitles and not paying as much attention to the horror in the film

  • how would remaking a movie RUIN the original?

it doesn't make the first movie any less entertaining or well made just because another movie is coming out.

If anything it just shows how good it was made.

  • Hey, what'd u think of the pubic shot near the end? I Felt like that could've been left out...

  • Awesome movie and so is REC....dont watch the crappy remake, just go read the freaking subtitles if you do not know the language

  • I watched this movie immediatly after reading the book and i was dissapointed.

It was overdubbed in English, so maybe some things were lost in translation but there were plenty of instances and characters and scenes and dialogue that were not in the film.

I hope they do re-make it and be true to the novel and include Tommy and Steffan and the cancer ridden woman that Eli kills and burns and then gets high as said woman is on morphine!

Excellent book - poor film in comparrison

    Sorry

  • @815cosmic The reason why the film focuses on the realtionship between Oskar and Eli is that the director is unfamiliar with the vampire mythology and surprisingly the fans of the book were impressed. Not to mention they managed to have the author of the book writing the script..

  • too many fucking remakes today.... why cant they just come up with their own ideas that would be an original!?!??! >:(

the movies were "GREAT!!!" how it was!!!!

oh this movie was great by the way

i have nothing against "remakes" but it just buggs the crap out of me when someone "Cant" some up with their own ideas, so instead, they just remake another movie that was from a long time ago.

remakes arent bad, but i want them to come up with a story that is theirs and that is "original" :)

  • here here!

    this is my favorite movie!

  • Best vampire movie in a very long time, really loved the film. I hate remakes my self, i don't see how the remake of this one will improve on the original since it was an epic film.

  • just finished watching it- fuck twlight haha, this movie was absolutely amazing. not really sure how i feel about the remake. i dont think itll take anything away from the original but as jimmybenkins said.. "whats the point?"

  • This has to be one of the best movies I have ever seen, especially because of the way it ends.

This is a tale of two young lovers whose only similarity is that they live harsh lives as outcasts. In the end, they find that the only thing that matters is their love for each other. This movie is dark and gritty and at the same time beautiful and very moving. It's a must watch, but only watch it if you are above 18, lot of rated R content.

  • Let The Right One In is a beautiful movie. I hear the book is even better. I liked Dark Knight except Christian Bale's husky batman voice.

  • This movie made me a rabid Twilight hater.

It's criminal how New Moon made Dark Knight money when this is infinitely better.

  • I totally agree with you about the Twilight series, but Dark Knight was one of my favorite movies too and also too different to compare to LTROI.

  • Very true. But I wouldn't mind if LTROI made a billion dollars. :)

  • I have to say, im ready for the remake, because itd be nice to see it in 2 different versions. although the remake probably wont beat the original but still im ready!

  • I hate Vampire movies.... all those sh*t full of bullets UV silver..holywater.....blah blah....... but i really wanna say even though this is a VAMPIRE MOVIE its great... a new face and a good return for a vampire movie..

    recomnded recomended

  • i loved this movie so fucking much!

  • foreals like how they kept paranormal activity original but i kno its not foreign but not popular when it was released but do the same for these movies juss put the original out there with good marketing and stuff but paranormal was mediocre

  • Typical. As soon as a europian makes an undeniably good movie the americans has to buy the rights and buttfuck it.

  • If you only watch the remake and ALSO not read the book...you should really feel bad about yourself because both the book and movie is amazing, the story, the ACTORS (OMG!!!!!), the scenary , how it's filmed...it's poetic and beuatiful.

  • Hey, I've watched the movie about five times and I was wondering where can I find the book?:)

  • Search for "let the right one in John Ajvide Lindqvist" on the net and I'm sure you'll find a online book store :) I myself am swedish and have read it in swedish so I'm not familar with american book stores :)

  • THanks, I'll do that. Did you ever watch it in theaters or did you buy or rent it?:)

  • hey jimmybenkins idk if u remember me u saying to me about rec n the remake n shit well i just found out that there making rec 2 so idk if there making the remake for part 2 n i also know mosty every movie coming this year next the later n after that

  • I like this movie it was pretty dicent, But I Like more Anime so i have one better, It has more action and its becouse of the main character (Yeah really it was mostly becouse of him) , called Hellsing OVA (OVA means a 50 -40 min movie, hellsing have now 6 OVA'S - its not done yet) (not TV but OVA) im not forcing anyone to watch it but i watched this movie becouse of your recomendetion to me to watch it, so i would like it if U do the same thing.OK ?

  • i watched it and it was AWSOME!

  • YOU DO PROVIDE A SERVICE!!!! I always laugh my ass off at your reviews bro.. FUCKING CLASSICS... ALL OF THEM!!! I love the way you tore terminator salvation a new asshole, lol

  • If americans are stupid (have most advanced technology in the world and develop most of the things you use now internet for example) What does that make you?

  • most advanced technology? have you not heard of japan and some of asia, dumb fuck

and the average americans have low IQs ,

  • You mean the Japan that until the year 1900 were still living in paper houses and when they say steamboats ran in fear because they thought they were dragons? Yeah, I know them.

  • Comment removed

  • *Scratches head* I'm about the whitest, most American boy you'd ever meet. I never said that Americans were stupid, just that I was a little peeved that our movie industry keeps revisiting ideas that don't need to be revisited, just yet, or maybe ever. Listen more carefully to what someone says before you go up in arms to try to defend yourself.

  • smarter than them to know the difference between a piece of pie and a piece of shit.

  • Americans may have the technology but remember the gadgets are there in Japan. That's FYI!!!!

  • can't say no to that:)

  • @swrcrew This comment is LATE but actually, Estonia is ahead of the U.S. in technology. Who do you think created Skype? Estonians. Btw, I'm American. Estonia and Sweden rock!!

  • nice to see you reviewing some arty movies, i've seen this and rec and they're great. Yet to see Quaranteen cause I Try to stear away from remakes, despite this there have been some decent ones (dawn of the dead, hills have eyes..etc)

  • gotta love this guys voice lol ^_^

  • if you wanna review an awesome foreign scary-movie/nazi-zombie-movie, review the norwegian "død snø" or "Dead Snow".

  • I've been wanting to watch that one but (Like "LTROI") it hasn't come to any theaters near me I'll prob netflix it.

  • dude can u review orphan?

  • Probably not.

  • this movie is amazing :D

  • most americans are uneducated dolts....and dont know what a good movie is....why do you think obama and the military are so desperate to get the education system back in shape....

  • America can't make good horror movies, that's why they remake movies..

  • The point of the remake is money. They can make a whole lot of more money if they take the story and turn in into a mainstream film for a wide audience in america who would'nt watch a foreign language film. That's all there is, and Matt Reeves can talk all he wants about how touched he was about the movie and all that, remaking films is a matter of money, period.

  • You need to do a little video of your recommended movies : ) I'll go and check these 2 out

  • another great foreign language movie that i just love is Battle Royal and I really think is amazing and i just hope they don't try to remake its

  • I love this movie and the book. Very touching.

  • very nice review thanks for your time.

  • Funny Games is one of the only justified remakes. Mainly because it's remade by its original director, and it's a shot for shot remake.

REC is amazing. I still need to see Let the Right one In.

And Jimmy, you're amazing too xD

  • I don't know if you've read the book, but you should. It is really outstanding.

I am indifferent towards the re-make. What really annoys me the most if that they are changing the main character's names. Oskar and Eli, really? They aren't even that foreign. But, the way they talk about the American version is that it's going to be more of a movie based off of the book and not so much an exact re-make of this movie. But yes, there is a large possibility that it will suck.

    Shit, I'm out of room.

  • but what movie NEEDS to be made?

whats wrong with remakes? they're a re-do, they don't fuck up the continuity of the original, or replace it.

    sequels are much worse.

most remakes suck, but most films in general suck.

    there's been some great remakes.

speaking of foreign horror, have you seen martyrs or inside?
