hi how are you i have vw engine car can this engine work in the airplane without gearbox example just like your airplane can this engine work IN Any small airplane it is vw engine 1600 cc plz any one here tell by message or nofiaction and thank you very much
Thank you so much! I followed your instructions and have been enjoying my new gyrocopter for months now. With all the junk I had hanging around the house I saved thousands.
hey i've got a six pack, tools, and a pack of smokes. i also have a honda 700c vf4 engine, do you think it'll put out enough power to push its heavy ass if i use in on a gyro plane?
gas on the ass. bag of cush. not flying with ya chief. actually though the design looked pretty good.. was it rigid? what was the weight over all, and engine weight? what did you use to make an instrument for rotor speed.. and air speed?
@NITRVN uhmm.. more variables to go wrong? stall speed, altitude, powerlines.. pot holes in the LZ, 3 times the control surface, not including throttle, building material.. "i just built a motocycle out of square aluminum pipe with screws and no welds, with an engine big enough to take flight, 'hit this' and lets go for a ride".. plus i guarantee in a bike your not flying off it, safety belted to the heavy fuel. im not saying it dont look fun.. but i aint riding with you nor him.
@carpetmonk A motorcycle can also stall/freeze, get some "altitude" if you hit a bump, powerlines not so much, but watch out for light poles and trees if you down a bike, more uplift is keeping a copter in the air than the contact patch of a bike tire is keeping it on the street, slightest nudge from any car is probably going to throw you, locking the brakes or a wheel is dangerous, and it's probably better to fall out the air at 100 MPH then be thrown down the road into traffic at that speed.
@TheHevquip huh? the conversation was about riding ontop of a 3 times the amount of gasoline in a plastic container that your seat-belted into compared to a motorcycle tank below you. but.. yeah, motorcycles are dangerous as well at speeds way less than flight speeds. i wouldnt ride a bike at 60-70 mph either, that was put together with screws. falling out of the air strapped to 30+lbs of fuel at 20mph would be deadly. you can drive a bike at 5mph and fall, theres no room for error in flight.
@paullubliner another example.. im going to build a boat out of improper materials. particle board and chewing gum, maybe some jello. i need you to sail to havana. better yet i am actually melting some aluminium today. im going to drink, and get lit, and i need someone to hold the mould, while i pour the crucible. does the word 'engineering' mean anything to you people? thank god for the darwin award. paullubliner: if your talking about avians, i prefer breast meat.
@carpetmonk I was joking, you missed my point. You are taking these things literally. Look up Avaiomania Genesis G1sa for an extremely well engineered beautifully flying example.
@paullubliner right on, its hard to differentiate, some of these people actually took offense.. or maybe its defense of the herb.. i dont know. i never got a reply back on craft weight, engine.. or if had used any instrumentation.. that aviomania is pretty sweet. the vid im watching has a relatively small engine. fantastic. god, that looks fun. do yo uknow these craft?
@carpetmonk : I am very seriously looking into them now. I have a machine shop in my garage (I earn my living that way) so tho build one is simple. Getting all the load factors, polar moments of inertia, C.G., thrust lines etc., are not. So I will take the advice of those who in my view have done it better than the rest. The Calidus, or Magni Orion with their fully enclosed cabin do not appeal to me. I want a leather helmet open cockpit with overwing Lewis gun. The Aviomania will do nicely!
@paullubliner thats fantastic, if you join a forum and post pictures of a build let me know. flight characteristics are tricky.. i like watching the R/C airplane videos, check out a youtube channel by 'rcsuperpowers' he hand makes designs, using everything from canards to gyros, different layouts of control surfaces, makes changes in field. he has some rotor driven craft as the same as fixed wing. thats hilarious about the lewis, i get one and paint it red, spikey helmet and a.. was it vickers?
@carpetmonk: Do look up "Aviomania Genesis Solo G1sa" they have many in flight videos. These are so impressive with regard to flying qualities I am completely sold on their design. So many of the Gyro designs appear to struggle to just get into the air. This thing just flys like NOTHING else I have ever seen. I restored a full sized Nieuport 11 and have a 1/5th scale Proctor R/C Nieuport 11 as well. I worked with Lou Proctor on the decals some 40 years ago. Hence the Overwing Lewis.
I got a couple bags of weed, a 6 pack of beer and a drill motor.. All I did was sit in my easy chair, drewl on myself and stare at my junk yard. I still don't have a schmick 2-seater gyro, just a bunch of chips packages litering my lawn.
@i412412412 I guess you could start with some thin sections of aluminum and carbon fiber/epoxy some substance to it. That's what I've thought about doing, but I'm still in the day dreaming stage.
Sorry for the "probably silly" question but, is it possible to convert an old trike flex wing to an autogyro? basic is just a matter of adapt a rotor head and comands, but I'm not sure about CGs and stability...
this said how to build your on gyrocopter wtf

Very ingenious! But the fuel tank seat... I don't know. Although it doesn't really matter as long as it is strong.

@carpetmonk Hows that different from resting your crotch on a gas tank with a motorcycle.
