no this wont work on the laptop, you cant upgrade Graphic cards on laptops only on the DESKTOPS, unless you want to send lots of money for a new motherboard for your laptop with a better processor and graphic card of course ;)

most cards nowadays will run at higher temps eg. 70+ but anything over 80-85 at a long period of time is bad for the card and if you get that, you should get it checked out

nah, ive never had any problems with installing drivers, heat or anything on my 4870, and the 4850 uses the same drivers.

yes, the zalman fan is quite good. not the best cooler that comes with some cards but still quite good, if it keeps temps under 75 its doing good.

nah that all depends on what engine the game is built, some games are run better on nvidia and some on ati. but thats because the engines are built that way.

Umm if u wanted to go with Nvidia i would chose out of these : XFX,EVGA,HIS,BFG,GIGABYTE,MSI.

any of those brands are very good.

maybe cos ur cooler was shit or fucked u nooblet. my HIS 4870 1gig runs at 60 degrees on load, 42 idle so stfu and 9800gts are a noob card, why would u downgrade from a 4850 to a 9800gt u nooblet. when u could just get a $60-70 cooler.

dude. did u have a 4850 gigabyte? because one of my mates has one and runs at 65 degrees on load so if thats what you had i dont know what was wrong wiht yours.. 9800gtx 1gb is worse than a 4850 1gb, alot worse. its a good card but a 4850 or 4870 is alot better.

you shouldnt have any heat issues or anything and if u do send it back to gigabyte. on warranty.

I installed my 8800gt 1gig (Palit) this way, there's only 1 6 pin connection on the card so I just plugged one in there. I have a 650W PSU, 3Ghz Pentium 4, and the latest drivers but the card just failed on an epic scale, with garbled displays and BSODs constantly. You think the card was screwed? I've sent it back for a replacement anyway.

I'm no expert on power management calculations, but the 500Watt power supply I'm running with this setup is plenty (Core2 Duo CPU E7200 slightly overclocked). I don't think I'd go much lower than 500 Watts if I were you.
