  • I think that question 'Are we the end product of evolution' is actually very very very simple to answer.

    The answer is 'no'.

Evolution is a continuous process, simply because DNA does not copy itself perfectly. Therefor in every circumstances some evolution inevitably occurs. (Which is why I always laugh my ass off at people who think the human race could last for five billion years. (That's over eight times from the CAMBRIAN to now, timewise)

  • @geokonti

Step 1:Look up ad hominem attacks in the dictionary.

Step 2:Look up logical reasoning on wiki.

    Step 3:???

    Step 4:Profit.

  • @LogicIsLogical

    Underpants Gnomes....O_O

  • @geokonti would Jesus say those things? What kind of a christian are you?

  • People who believe Harun Yahya aren't interested in the truth, they just want someone to reassuringly pat them on the back and say "there there, uncle will take away the nasty evidence"

  • young childrens mind vwrecked by compulsory religion (imposed by pro-american gov.) classes in Turkey therefore positivism will never have future!

indocrination is guarantied by western supported gov. which have a secret agenda!

you western popl.will see a violent civil war in Turkey betwn rasyonalism and fundamentalism!

a new iran is being created by neo-con,illuminati (confusing and looks imposible at first innit,,,but true!!!)

  • Creationism has nothing to do with scientific debate!! You can believe in creation while at the same time USE scientific theory as a tool. Just because evolution goes against your belief system doesn't mean you have to deny the fact that it is used in genetic research. I could say that electricity is created by Thor, but does that mean I have to deny the existence of an electrical generator??

Science and Religion, ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!!! AARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

  • @primepost Biogenesis and Evolution are different theories. It like understanding how a bird flies to understanding how matter creates gravity. Gravity is needed to understand the areodynamics of flight but we still don't fully understand gravity. But I agree with you, the chances of a protein strain let alone amino acids forming on earth are mindboggling small.

  • @CetraTJ it is a chance however and even if miniscule, it is still possible. We could be living that seeming impossibility.

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND absolutely! I don't think we'll ever really know for sure. Several billion years ago the conditions for the formation of life would've been drastically different, the chances for such an occurance may have had better odds during that time. Or maybe not.

  • I grew up in Turkey, while creationism wasn't taught explicitly in Bio classes, everyone assumed the world was created. Evolution is taught to a degree it is overly simplified and often teachers felt obliged to say they didn't believe in it. They kept saying it is a theory thus they need to teach it, but they said don't believe it. It is not that strong etc....this was like 10 years ago though. I don't live there anymore, but some said it got worse due to religious leaning government.

  • You always amaze me dawkins

  • Its funny to find two (dusty) copies of harun yahya's work on my book shelf, while in the other hand i am now starving to read sagan's, dawkin's, and hitchen's works...

  • Beware of the evolution hoaxes in the media Clarification

  • Hahaha !!! Half-crocodile and half-squirrel !!!! Half-starfish and half-fish ?!!

Harun Yahya is a big joke. He doesn't even know what transitional fossils are supposed to be !!!! LOL

It funny to see Muslims seriously believe that this man have really debunked evolution. LOL !

  • @maroom1 crocaduck and fronkey. lmao!

  • It is funny that you seem to think you are pushing a clever question but really it really shows us that you have no Idea how evolution works.

Say a Lion is born and as he grows up he has stronger leg muscles or sharper claws or anything that will make his chances of survival SLIGHTLY better, then he has more chance of passing these genes for these traights on. The mutation can be even smaller but this is just a simple example for you beacuse you seem to be having trouble grasping the basics.

  • Its so funny, that you r trying to make ur self look smarter, you you really are pretty dumb, can you answer my question?

  • it would of been helpful if you hadn't removed your comment that had the question in it. But it seems I gave you a preschool version of how evolution work, and yet you still don't get the concept.

  • Something alarming in this vid. A woman tells that evolution is ignored by schoolteachers in her country (you won't have to answer any questions on it in the exams) and Dawkins says that's how it's handled in parts of the U.S. too.

    Pardon??

It can't be up to a teacher what will and won't be in exams; are the contents of exams not centrally organised & supervised by a governing body there??

  • @queenastilon

There are school standards but they are heavily regulated by local school boards which are often, especially in the illeterate bible belt, full of fundies. Often they are under lots of pressure by religious groups. Many places will avoid saying anything about the age of the Earth. Some places will call evolution "change over time" as if calling it something else will somehow change reality.

  • Thanks, jimbrown, for answering. But are exams not federally standardised?

I seems to me there is a possible case to be built against the school boards for denying children scientific education. But it's not my country and of course I don't claim to understand how things work.

It's all very sad. And it explains all the US fundies spouting total bullshit here on YT.

  • There are some standards for exams by the govt, but even those are packed with science-hating fundies just like local school boards. The text book boards are in Texas which is fundie central. Many states have eliminated things like the age of the Earth from text books and started calling evolution "change over time" as if that will make it go away.

This stuff keeps getting worse and worse. But on the bright side, it makes baby Jesus happy!

  • To Halikipalas

Your comments are typical of someone who has blind faith and little intelligence, you have no idea of what you're talking about, you follow someone else's lead blindly, you blindly believe that idiot Harun, if you can't think for yourself you will always be someone's slave, as you currently are.

  • lol, am I the blind follower or you? If tomorow he turns to religion you also follow, Actually What i say about atheists are arrogant and ignorant, They try to solve everything with their ''golden brain' I myself saw Dawkins saying i am 6 out 10 believe in Science I can't refute god completely, watch the 5 min bbc talk...

  • Pua8:

Sorry but you are laughingly ignorant. Probably some higher education can change your mental status.

  • Death uncovers the truth ,in the end..

  • "what about going and talking a book yahya wrote and reading it yourself? "

I read his book, and it contains a lot of errors and fake fossils. Harun Yahya claims that TIGER SKULL is 80 millions old, and HYENA SKULL is 85 million old ! Scientist never found a Tiger or Hyena skull that old, and those species never existed even 10 millions years ago.

He also take scientists quote out of context to support his views.

  • Comment removed

  • The guy also say (in his book) that there are no intermediate between fish and starfish, and between a Bear and Whale. He want us to find an intermediate form between two modern and totally different species LOL

His books can be downloaded for free as pdf format from his official website. You can read it if you are bored, and want to laugh. Almost every argument he makes is easily refuted by even a basic understanding of the Evolution.

  • You're an ignorant moron

  • you are useless retard..

  • He doesn't address all the arguments, because Yahya isn't saying anything new. He just copied his arguments from the Christian creationists and pretended as if they were his.

Whether we look at Haeckel's embryos, the comparison between evolutionists and Hitler, the "irreducible complexity" of the eye, the thermodynamics argument or the improbability argument, all of them have been seen before with Christian creationists.

The only difference seems to be that Yayha is even more hateful.

  • good, if he is a defiant person, have a proper debate with creationists and smash them down for public in it? why not? oh you wanna say: all his rivals are not suitable for argue? maybe Dawkins scaring a bit of his weakness and back and forth irrational deadlock evolution? who knows...

  • It would certainly be interesting to see.

Nevertheless, there is something to say for what Dawkins his argument. According to the wedge strategy, the Christian strategic plan on how to overthrow science, one of the main steps for turning the world back into a theocracy is to make it seem as if creationism is a legitimate science. Such "scientific" debates are a part of that, during which creationists tend to use a variety of propaganda techniques to be able to exploit the situation later.

  • The funny side of Dawkins is: He always tries to refute preachers and imams who don't have complete knowledge of evolution, When the real rival ready out there, everyatheist says a kid for elder?...how unfair :(

(variety of propaganda techniques to be able to exploit the situation later) you should use this frase vice versa, how many unanswered questions of incomplete science, anyway here is not much space to write more..

  • That biology cannot tell exactly how everything happened does not mean that it is incorrect and that alternative explanations for evolution cannot be completely excluded does not mean that these explanations are reasonable.

For example, you cannot exclude that there are leprechauns living in your backyard as they may be very good at hiding themselves. But does this make it reasonable to think they are there?

Considering the evidence available, evolution is the most reasonable explanation.

  • One such propaganda technique is to purposely overcomplicate things, so that the public will fail to understand what it is about and it may even confuse the evolutionist with exaggerated technicalities.

The creationist can then later point at the debate and claim that there really is a evolution/creation debate.

Another propaganda technique that is often used is to cleverly cut and paste the debate to make the evolutionist point seem absurd. This too has been often done already.

  • The reality is though that not debating is also exploited by creationists by claiming that there is a conspiracy against them.

In any case, anyone who really is interested in how the creationist arguments are refuted can easily find this out by reading the books from Dawkins or watching some youtube videos. Those from AronRa are particularly worth watching.

  • Earlier in this video you saw that Harun doesn't know the difference between a snake (reptile) and an eel (fish). Even if they look the same, they are animals that are as different as humans from ostrich.

He is not sufficiently qualified to participate in a debate in a biology class for 13 year olds, much less against a professor.

  • @Pua8

He doesn't debate him because it would be a total joke and a waste of time. This Harun lunatic thinks transitional fossils are things like humans with fish heads. That guy's understanding of science is beyond help.

It would be like Steven Hawkins debating an astrologer.

  • Forget it.

  • Well said.

  • Dude, did you even WATCH the previous part of this?

Dawkins TOLD US why he doesn't debate fundamentalists.

It is because a debate would give people the illusion that there is some controversy about evolution's factuality.

    There is none!

  • buddy thats not an excuse his intention from the god delusion is to make pple leave religion...the man is dying to debate him and he is declining,, if he is easy to beat then that would really convert millions of muslims..y dont u watch his clip on debating with bishops...bishops have no knowledge about science for him to debate them,, dont tell me look at the previoius clip,, that is no excuse,, he is running away,,he will make the debate the way dawkins wants it,, dont give me that bullshit.

  • Of course he is declining!

    Yahya isn't even worth debating!

And debating him would give the delusion to people that there really is something to discuss.

    IT ISN'T!

  • looool see again,, ur running away using excuses... funny enough also bishops arnt worth it but that aint stopping him from debating with them... and i told u ,, lazy excuse,,, the man of truth is the man who steps up,, prove that he's nothing by proving his points wrong,,and if u prove him wrong,, the game is over,, nobody woud bother buying or listeneing to harun yahya... step up u cowards,,, its funny that we wana debate this topic but the pple of "truth" r running away,,

  • *huff*

If a person is constantly insisting that 5+5=11 but keeps on doing this, even when his standpoint is refuted, then it is not worth bothering to try to lecture.

It is the same thing with Harun.

His standpoints are even refuted by high school understanding of evolution.

Dawkins "debating" him would be like a debate about politics between a 9 year old and a president.

  • more like a debate between a 9yr old and the president about wether the monster in the kids closet exists or not or wether it should be allowed to vote for president or not.

  • Hudfadz I have a feeling you only watched part 3/4 imbocile

  • seriously i want to know what exacly did he debunk??

  • Richard Dawkins debunked Harun Yahya's Atlas of Creation by showing how wrong the then/now pictures are. Insects in amber compared to a fishing lure, with hook and all? Harun Yahya has not even the remotest clue to what he's presenting. This book is a complete waste of money, it's so bad, even you couldn't have done worse even if you tried. It's like constructing a furnace in ice.

  • hang on, read his book, or in fact hey watch a doco harun made on youtube here and then talk, trsut me dawkins is just making fun of a person not his work.

  • Harun Yahya is an old earth Creationist. He has no clue about biology, evolution, abiogenesis or even astronomy for that matter. I too would make fun of him for trying to be something he's not, especially because of his dishonesty, because that's what he is, dishonest. He's lying in the faces of everyone who listens to him and he knows it. I don't need to read his books to know this. Mr. Dawkins has proved himself time and again, Harun Yahya has never done so.

  • @Orkaney I am from turkey and his books are very popular in here. When I talk my friends about evolution, they usually say "what are you talking about? we are all muslims and we believe what was written in the koran." others say "I read Harun yahya and Darwin's Theory of Evolution is just a hoax."I cant believe what my friends say. They persist in not believing in science. I dont think they know Mr.Dawkins. They refuse to do research. harun yahya has lost of fans in my country. I hate him.

  • @baharsahin The worst part is that religious people think science is debatable for everyone, that willfully ignorant people have a say. I chat with people from Turkey on ICQ, they're all embarrassed to have such a person representing them.

I suggest you try talking about scientific method instead, make your friends on its functions and why it should be so, then apply this method to simpler issues. Just don't start calling it scientific method. I have no religion because of reason alone.

  • Did Harun Yahya, or his real name, Adnan Oktar, ever complete his interior design education at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts? Does he have any education at all? Reading the Quran and mistaking it for science, it's like marrying a 9 year old girl when you're 50. I don't know where to begin, it's just wrong on so many levels.

  • Creationists try imposing their beliefs on schools and the science community through media and public opinion, knowing they don't stand a chance through peer review. They know they don't have a clue what they're talking about and are too lazy to study and find out.

Dawkins talks about what Creationists are doing in the same medias to counter-balance their efforts. He denies them legitimacy for their claims that there's a controversy by not debating them.

  • I don't debate pedophiles about the morality of their decision to molest children. So does it then follow that I'm not allowed to speak against the topic?

I'm sure I'd be unable to answer many questions from a pedophile, but that would largely be related to the stupidity of the question.

  • It's amazing that some group of caddis flies evolved a metal hook

  • Scientists hypothesize that it was used as a weapon :)

  • Dawkins Rules!

  • Thanks for posting! Something new to watch with Dawkins. I love to watch all of the new ones with Dawkins, Harris and Hitchens.

  • @lucidatheist fuck off
