~ Thanks for posting this. I'm a Democrat aka 'liberal', but I think there may be some relevant info in this book that can be adequately sourced, despite the obvious bias and intent of the author (incl. the book's provocative title). Ex. the despicable, 'progressive' scourge of Eugenics in the early 20th century. Yech.
I don't have strong distain for all liberals just many of the more extreme ones. One of my best friends is a liberal, it's fun going to a bar having several drinks and talk about morality, religion, sex, war, politics. People seem scared of us at first because we are loud, direct (politically correct) and lay it all out on the table, call each other names, yet we are great friends. Diversity enriches us in many cases. No one system is perfect.
That's a great story. And this is a great discussion. I think that this would all change, all become easier to understand if we simply looked up the words that we are using.
I think it's funny that they parade Fascism as 'big government' when they want it to be nice and I think it's funny that "Fascism" is such a negative term. People forget fascism is friendly, and supportive, like a mother. (only to her own children.)
But, this is a democracy, and that a messed up system in and of itself.
phavix: I partly agree that fascism is sometimes preferable such as under an emergency. If your house is burning down, or your country is under attack; it's usually best not to sit down and have a long democratic debate about what to do.
However I think it's funny and dangerous that Democrats try to present themselves as anti-fascist, yet they want to declare an emergency based on pseudoscience under the guise of environmentalism (global warming) they want to make a fascist New World Order.
Phavix "simply looked up the words that we are using"
Another thing that is quite interesting is if you look up the definitions in older dictionaries compared to new ones. You will notice that the old dictionaries didn't have any reference to party affiliations, whereas the newer dictionaries often have a left-wing bias. So even the dictionary has been politicized as propaganda.
Phavix: Not only the regular media has been infected by liberal bias, but even respected reference literature has been rewritten and redefined. If you look at the redefined definition you will see that many references now partly define fascism as right wing. However if you look at the history of fascism, it is predominantly left-wing. So when you look at the facts, and compare it to the redefined dictionaries, you will see that the dictionaries are dishonestly liberally biased.
That's totally correct actually. I think you have a great point. I went looking and the best definition I could get came from an encyclopedia. I am also a huge fan of Plato, so, I have been reading up all this stuff, and Fascism fits nicely into his definition of state.
Ultimately, people seek their own agendas and for that reason... nothing is going to change. Through all of time, we have never found the middle. It's quite sad.
I do appreciate your response! It's brilliant and profound!!
Phavix: Many things like that are not black and white. The Liberals have the history books crediting Clinton and Carter as great peacemakers for negotiating terms with North Korea. Yet the Liberals and Nobel laureates are too ignorant and dishonest to admit that the peace agreements inadvertently helped North Korea develop nukes and become more dangerous and threatening. The history is a dishonest façade. The ill-conceived peace agreement actually has brought us closer to war.
Phavix: The Liberals also seem to ignore the fact that sometimes it takes fascism to fight fascism. Not all fascism is bad. It took a bit of fascism on part of the allies to beat fascist Germany.
I think, if you wanna see something scary, you should take a look again at the republic. Every time I get confused about what is going on, I turn to The Republic so I can understand the sides.
We are walking a fine line between Democracy and Tyranny. It's all very scary. But, since there are only 3 real types of government (philosophically according to Plato) we are going to be either exactly true, or a shade of two.
Plato's Republic is not a real government. (and it's a Socialist Cast system)
IMAO Unfortunately there isn't any pure form of government that I know of that works well. Ssshhhh. Don't tell the Liberals, but I think there are some good the Liberals and I think they are necessary. I just feel they are too prevalent, extreme and too powerful at the moment.
IMAO Even democracy in its purest form has flaws, all forms of government do. The US government is a blend of types of government. It is an attempt to take the best of several different types of systems and combine them into one. Unfortunately there is a power struggle that continually once to redefine the combination. Our government needs to be flexible to grow and change, however the flexibility can be used to bring change that is bad.
phavix: The course was encouraging students to protest. However it was not encouraging them to do it civilly and morally. I think the course and curriculum was verily poorly conceived and designed.
There are times to conform and be obedient (just as there are times to rebel or throw a tantrum or cry), however it has to be done morally and intelligently.
Phavix: Not only are our kids being taught bigotry by fascist liberal media and schools; it's being taught with references and fabricated history.
It's like with the Liberals rewriting history by portraying John F. Kennedy as purely a hero in the Cuban missile crisis. He may be partly to credit for getting us out of the mess but he is also partly responsible for getting us into the mess. I think the Russians and Cubans are partly to blame and credit; but so are we.
I think it's important to remember that We are also reasponcible for teaching our children. It doesn't matter what the book says, as long as we can show our children another book to read. It's very important that people understand both sides of the story, and living in Japan, I can attest to that.
Japanese History denies most crimes by Japan, and blames America. It's they are still fighting with China and Korea about what happened because of Japanese history books.
Even back when I was in school some of the history books were fudged somewhat to promote patriotism. I am a patriot, I don't think it's necessary to tell people lies to make them patriots, in many cases it is counterproductive, because it can be difficult to trust a system that lies to you. So everything that you're taught you should take with a grain of salt.
We were taught such things as Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity. He may have experimented with it and made some advances, but to say he discovered electricity is not honest. But at least that did not favor a particular party, whereas now days the students are brainwashed at school with fascist liberal propaganda from kindergarten to college.
I agree that it is part of a parent's responsibility to teach their children, however if we send our children to school it's hard for us to know what they are being taught. I find it very surprising what our children are being taught. I've had some critical words and wrote some critical letters to teachers, administration and politicians.
Not too long ago first-grader students came home depressed and crying. The parents asked why, the children were told that using plastic was harmful to the environment and and the children were upset because they were "destroying the world". Basically the kids that were eating school lunches were bullying the students that packed their lunch with propaganda that the teachers were teaching.
So we gave the students paper bags and sandwiches in wax paper. The next day the students came home depressed and crying again. The same thing except this time paper was the villain. We went in to have a talk with the teachers, we asked the teachers to try to tone down the rhetoric because they're scaring the children.
They refused, they said it was part of the curriculum. We asked them what they could use to transport and keep their food that would be politically correct, the teachers had no solution. We confronted the administration, they told us the same thing the teachers did. The schools are teaching politically correct fascism with fear mongering that is unreasonable.
Well, you could pack their food in cloth and pottery. But the cloth is Bleached, and the Pottery is cooked at high temperatures, which requires energy... etc....
Personally, I think our children need a tougher hide. Who cares of they are scared, or sad about the big bad world. They should be. It's a big bad world!
But I'm a childhood denier. that makes me evil. I know, sorry.
You make some good arguments, and I think the best thing we can do for children is let them know that things are bad.
phavix: Agreed, however that wouldn't be politically correct. However there are also sometimes it is good to be soft and show feelings. It just isn't right to be told fascist lies and he told you have to be in lockstep with the dishonest propaganda; there are times to yell, curse and cry. The public schools should subjecting the children to such dishonest party propaganda.
phavix: My sister taught a class at a college, the course was about protesting. The whole curriculum was about choosing what you're going to protest. There was no mention that there was times to conform and be obedient and that protests should only be reserved for things that deserve to be protested. There was no mention of how to protest civilly (legally. morally and ethically).
Liberals don't like to think of themselves as Fascists. But they are.
Sorry, liberals. Deal with it.

@chuck911 Liberals are fine with being fascists. They just don't like being called on it.

Great point here. It's true!
I try to use only the 'Oxford English Dictionary' as it's closest to the truth.
The problem with the words is the liberal definition and use of words. It's caused all kinds of strange things to come about.
I hate the word "Athleticism" because it's bunk. "Irregardless" is horrible, and I love this word Fascism, because it's both Good and Bad! How great!
But! (hehehe)

I have sympathy for people trying to learn English. "Restroom" can be deceptive. Inflammable can be fatally deceptive.
