@McAmbrose14 "first to fall not to fight" dude, you can shut the hell up. they were the first to fight and they weren't even prepared for a war since they only had 20 years of a country to rebuild and improve their economy from after the 1st world war. they gained independence in 1919, but in 1920 had a war with Russia (but won YEY) but lost a load of soldiers, guns Armour and factories. 20 years later the war broke in 1939 when Germany attacked. the polish ally the Czechs betrayed Poland.
I'm a student of history. I know well how terribly the Polish nation suffered under the yoke of Nazi oppression. The people of that country have forever earned my respect for their outstanding courage to fight on, even when confronted by both the Nazis and the Soviets. When the Polish Resistance began the Warsaw Uprising, they fought so fiercely the Nazis resorted to burning down the capital to stop them.
Their bravery has touched my heart, and all those Poles that died will not be forgotten.
@NicholasGeschke Not really, the idea to destroy Warsaw had long been in planning by many high echelons of Nazi Germany. I guess the one small consolation to be had from this is that many Polish pilots were able to escape. They later joined up with the RAF and, as history tells us, had their revenge against the Luftwaffe. I'm curious, do any history buffs on here know what happen to 303rd Squadron and other Polish fighter squadrons after the war. All I've found are a few dubious references to those who returned home "disappearing" and the rest not wishing to return to Communist rule.
@CobaltX07 No idea what happened after the war, but suprisingly alot of polish troops escaped, the 4 largest forces against nazi germany were...
The USSR
The USA
The Commonwealth
followed by....
Poland.
More polish troops went on in the war under british command then French troops keeping on the fight suprisingly(not to say the french were cowards or poles either, just strange considering the regional positioning, standing army size etc)

So don't dump all the blame on the French and British "cowards"
@Mrfreeworld1000 bullshit you read about the history of World War II, before you write something. France and England were well prepared but simply were afraid, ever heard of "Mein Kampf," Adolf Hitler? He wanted to conquer all of europe and overthrow communism if you are not cowards we finishing this war very quickly. I'm sorry if I made any mistakes in sentences, but I'm Polish and I'm still learning English.Więc poucz się historii i wtedy coś napisz, kurwa.

England did not even allow Poles to march in the victory parade for fear of "offending" Stalin.
Hey. I would not blame England so much. France was first to attack Germans, hard to expect English to skip over France and attack Germans alone. French expected Maginot line help them but it worked as Chinese Wall against Chingis Khan - not at all.
It is rather pity that Poles had to fight for British Empire in Africa, Italy insted with fitghting Germans on their soil. But i agree english authorities failed with this victory parade. Greets.
@bigrobcanuck France also lacked you know, proper tank doctrine and had massive tactical blunders leaving them pretty much collapsing.
England and the commonwealth, another 1 of those misconceptions, iirc the commonwealth didnt have forced conscription but the UK did. Lack of will? because dunkirk and the leaving of every gun and tank in france didnt happen right? Pretty much every single ww2 historian would call you a fool for that comment alone.
@bigrobcanuck and going on from "lack of equipment" it was so ba every single tank or gun was gang pressed into service possible, this gave your avg tommy a wide veriety of weapons which either broke in combat or were heavily outgunned/dated...
As for the whole "not offending Stalin" thing, the USSR had the best planes, tanks and infantry weapons of any faction at that point, the IS3 tank, the T44 tank, just to name 2 tanks...
@bigrobcanuck Lets also not forget the fact the USSR heavily outnumbered the british in manpower either ofcourse.
You call it cowardly, i call it using common fucking sense. (lets also leave out churchill crocodile plan eh? Attack via greece to polan and cut the russians out of europe, denied by the americans.
Long Live Poland. The Bravest Soldiers in history.
France would of helped if they didn't have all those pointless strikes before the war. But because of those strikes, France became weak, that's why we lost against the Nazi Basterds.
But never again! The Future of Europe rest in the hands of Poland now, and we French will do all that we can to insure you succede.
Long live Poland. Greetings from France.
Germans are no longer nazis, but the nazis that remains should be executed for their ideas.
@PierreRMB "the nazis that remains should be executed for their ideas."
I agree, they are very ignorant, and terroristic,if one comes with facts that dismount their pseudo histories, their defense is always the same,"jewish propaganda".
Still, engaging them with heavy force would also kill innocents, and socially unfavored people that follow national socialism, yet, can be brought to light, with decent education, just their leaders and immediate followers(poisoners)must be identified, and destroyed.
@PierreRMB well beacuse of France and britain "allies" we actually lost this war and have to lost 2/3 of teritory and take 50yers communism penalty. Say what you want, we do not have nothing now beacuse we have chosen WRONG allies but I hope never again with cowards. Recently we have to rebuilt our economy and society becuase communim drained all the best from Poland. It is like mission impossinble but we will struglle hard. fuck German pigs.
@PierreRMB well we beacuse of our "allies " lost the war and 2/3 of teritory and took penalty of communism. Never agian alliance with cowards. Now we have rebuilt our economy, industry, society that were destroyed for 50-ty years by soviet Union. We must struggle hard, beacuse once again NOBODY will help us. Fuck EU, germany, France and UK those bastards always mind their own buisnesses!
@kashoob2123 not much could be done, both countries were relatively weak still from the first war and they couldn't really send troops to poland or risk war with germany and russia.
@PierreRMB After Soviet and german invasion of 1939 Poles escaped to France. 84,461 Polish soldiers defended France in 1940 - 1,400 of them died, 4,000 were wounded, 16,000 were taken prisoner, 35,000 escaped to England and defended UK too. Poles who can`t escape created Polish resistance in France during World War II - Polish Organization for the Struggle for Independence in France In 1943 had 4000 members.
Dziękuję.Z całego serca dziękuję.Świat zapomniał prawdy o historii Polski, szczególnie tej nie tak odległej,a ten film ją przypomina.Dlatego dziękuję Ci za ten film.
Me and both my sisters were taught (admittedly vaguely) about Poland in World War 2 in school and none of the three of us knew Russia invaded Poland. Shocking. Thanks for the video, sir.
It was de facto if not actual policy in the UK and to a lesser extent the USA later on to avoid mentioning the Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939. UK Labour Party policy had the official line of supporting the USSR in any and all conflicts with Poland. This even extended to animosity toward Poles in the UK after the war. ...
... This legacy of conveniently overlooking the fact that the USSR was initially an ally with Nazi Germany and always an enemy of Poland throughout the war has roots in 1920 when Poland unexpectedly beat back the Red Army (their only defeat prior to Afghanistan) and hence the tidal wave of communism that threatened western Europe. It is commonly stated in error that Hitler attacked the Soviet Union in 1942. He didn't. He attacked Soviet forces in USSR-occupied Poland.
Struggle to Survive ? If that happens agin they well not be there every were and if that dose happens agin I hope uk nukes germans. Because of this Nazis I think they should die like the way the killed polish die Nazis kill the Nazis the way they killed the polish but only worse
the swastika should not be the only symbol of hatred and death in world war 2 the soviet flag should also be represented the same way the soviets murdered, raped and destroyed much of eastern Europe. to the poles who died for the love of their country. I am polish and my Great grandfather died fighting the Germans in world war 2.my heart goes to the millions of men, women, and children during world war 2. god bless you.
@McAmbrose14 Poles generally don`t care how Poland is usually recognized. We are not cool and fucking jizzzy.... We just try to provide normal life in this place and nobody can`t conquer us.... We preserved Our culture for 123 years living without state. We was under Hitler and Stalin totalitarian systems and we survived. Nobody can`t destroy Us. World know shit about fight.... constant fight for every minute and every single life.... so long as we still live
@McAmbrose14""mighty salute to Poland""The first to fall after being the first to fight against overwhelming military strength of 3 nations (DE,USSR, SK). In 1920, the first to fight & win over aggressive bolshevism thus saving Europe from Lenin's call for taking Warsaw, Berlin, Paris for his "world communist revolution" .The first to fall was Czechoslovakia
Right. And if russians had fought like men in 1939 instead of hiding in Moscow while their german allies did the job for them it would have been 1920 all over again. Polish heroes who did not submit to the russians are inspiration and idols to all patriots world wide who don't want their country to be controlled by the Kremlin yurta.
Thank all of you for your touching words. I'am a 3rd generation Pole and both my grandfather and great grandfather fought the germans in both world wars and sadly both fell in battle. This brings tears to my eyes because I had no idea so many were grateful or even remembered our struggle. God bless you all.....
Yes and No. Its 7,92 mm rkm Browning wz. 1928, Polish version of the M1918 BAR. Calibre changed from .30-06 to 7.92x57mm, barrel was lengthened, modified bipod's construction and iron sights (peephole to v- notch type), pistol grip added.
Salutes to the great people of Poland who fought united till the end against giant tyrants like Germany and Russia , i wish my people in Mexico would have taken the example from the polish and stayed united as one in times of war
there was one part that really got my attention and made me sad. the Katyn Forest Massacre. one of the most grusome events in polish history. 22,000 polish officers killed by soviets commanded by stalins secret police. its just heartbreaking seeing all those soldiers being murdered that way.
@Rogvist I know the sentence about honor, I like it and have deep respect for it as well as for Polish resistence. Reminds me best Churchill's speaches. I am only deeply sorry Mr. Beck did not remember on this one year earlier in September 38 when Czechoslovakia was blacmailed. Next time razem!
@PetarCZ Dude, Czechoslovakia didn't even shot one bullet, while having quite nice army for such small nation. Like Beck said, their is only one thing in the lives of nations...Czechs didn't have it.
Czechoslavakia was sold out by their own fucking allies. France and the UK promised to fight to back up Poland hence Poland being willing to fight. Also apparently their planes were ineffective (Poland's)
@PetarCZ It is a pity that the Czechoslovaks did not remember the honor Jan. 23, 1919, when Poles were busy fighting Bolszewiks. Breaking all the arrangements and treaties took inhabited by Poles Zaolzie ...
I come from poland i know fussian help us after they atack poland russian help us becouse russian and nazis want to hawe poland in half one half nazis and other russian but naziz com to far so rusian disided to fight with poland against germany.PEOPLE SHOUD REMEMBER THAT DAY IF NOT POLAND TODAY THEY WILL BE RULED BY NAZIS!!!!!! LET THE SPIRIT BRING PEACE TO ALL HEROS FROM WW2 SPECALY TO POLAND.
People today have forgotten what the Polish people did doing the war :C The Polish are being discriminated in many countrys because they work there but people foeget that Polen had more to say in WW2 then most countrys so people should shut up !!!
There is 1 country which fought the german army from day 1. First in defence of their homeland, then abroad. They defended their allies even though these allies had not come to their aid. They fought on sea, air and land and turned from a conscript army with obselete WW1 weapons into a very efficient modern fighting force over the course of the war.
Thank you, for the Polish soldiers who fought for our freedom and helped to liberate the Netherlands.
@sebas379 All I can say is...THANK YOU. I promised myself one day I will visit Driel. And I will. Cora Baltussen is my hero. Thank You that You remember of our sacrifice in the name of Freedom. "For your Freedom and ours". A historical Polish motto. Best wishes.
although i live barely 20 miles from Driel, i have to admit i have never been there. i've seen Normandy, Berlin, Paris and WW1 battlefields such as Verdun and the Somme. But soon, I will go there, I have to do so, as a Dutch, since it's an important part of our history.
For he who forgets his history is doomed to relive it, must be my personal motto :)
i must admit i have never visited Driel myself, though i live 30 km from it, but one day i will. I have seen Normandy, Verdun and the Somme already (last 2 are ww1). Also, i'm planning a proper expedition to the Holland Water Line, the main defensive line of the heart of our country for the past centuries. One day soon, I will visit Driel. Maybe next September when they commemorate the battle for Arnhem, if I have time
@BOLD1914PL or it might be that winston churchill wanted the allies to move through italy and take most of eastern europe before the soviets got their, and he especialy wanted to liberate poland. but he was blocked out by the US because they didnt want to piss the soviets off so in all reality you should say the americans let poland down
@CSATexan They didn't promised anything but still after the war they act like total FUCKS giving germany billions of dollars for reconstraction and leaving Poland wich suffered most and the whole city's was destroyed , with no help ... I guess something is REALLY fucked up in this picture don't you ? But fuck all of yall Poland always was on their own fighting with HONOR for their future and beliefs we don't need nobody western world can lick each other asses , we will be alright
The USA wanted to help Poland rebuild with the Marshall Plan, but Poland was inside the Soviet Union sphere of influence /after WW2), so Stalin decided not to let the Marshall Plan get involved with the countries within their sphere of influence aka "The Iron Courtain".
@CSATexan Washington July 1943 - Jan Karski ask president USA: "Everybody in Poland will be asking me "What president USA say to You?". What I can answer Them?" President Theodore Roosevelt: "Say Them that We win this war. Poland will be bigger country that was before war. America not leave You and help You."
2:44 "There is only one thing in the lives of men, nations and countries that is without price. That thing is honor." Józef Beck, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs
I always felt sorry for Poland(Before 1990). The entire reason the Allies went to war was to defend Poland and then to appease Stalin Poland was given to the USSR.
Świetne, tylko trzeba by dodać tłumaczenie na angielski przemówienia Becka, wielu cytuje Churchill-a, Roosevelt-a czy nawet Stalina A według mnie nic się nie może równać z przemówieniem naszego ministra.
the clip @ 2:20 is a movie called Katyn which was based on the russian murder of polish army officers not to mention over 250,000 of them in the saddest event in history of Poland in the Katyn Forest Massacre by soviet secret police.
@Rogvist im polish as well commarade and i always tell them that us poles put up a good fight against the Germans and the Soviets we would hav beaten them if we were supplied by Britain or France
Really interesting great video bro. Yugoslavia also didn't had a help from brit and us and we've defend ourselves and they've never conquered a land that was't reconquered by yugoslavia. Greeting Poland from Macedonia . żyje Polska i Macedonii
Poland continued fighting and despite Russia and Germany tried very hard to obliterate the country, your nation is here, it is now and it´s stronger than before.
Be proud polish people, because what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Poland survived with bravery and honor both attacks. Brits and Yanks always take all the glory, but the fact is that hundred of important battles were fougth by other armed forces like from Canada, Australia, even Brazil, or the resistance from France, Czechoslovakia etc. because they refused to end his fight against the invaders.
@Taurus0423 "Karol - człowiek, który został papieżem" - "Karol: A Man Who Became Pope". (2005) You can also watch"Katyń(2007)" and "The pianist"(2002. In my opinion the best). They're more about war itself and are also telling very important stories. Very well done technicaly too. Enjoy them. Oh and there were (in the YT film) footages from a recent polish tv-series too.
Exactly war began in 31.08.39 as German soldiers dressed in Polish uniforms attacked their own radio station in Gleiwitz /Today "Gliwice" - Poland/ Also it is very important at least for me. the operation was called " "Dead grandmother" I will be singing about it on our new album "V-Column"
Is there any website that introduces Polish generals?
As for this clip, I believe France and Britain are the major reason for Poland`s defeat, since they were supposed to give help but they basically stood there watching and they even delayed Poland`s mobilization for few weeks, resulting in incomplete mobilization.

Said it before, say it again. NEVER met a Pollack, decendant or national I wouldn't stand back to back with at the gates of hell.
Russia's attrocities after the World War far out wieghed the worst of Germany's as bad as they were.

Lack of will? because dunkirk and the leaving of every gun and tank in france didnt happen right? Pretty much every single ww2 historian would call you a fool for that comment alone.
MitchofSmeg 1 month ago
@bigrobcanuck and going on from "lack of equipment" it was so ba every single tank or gun was gang pressed into service possible, this gave your avg tommy a wide veriety of weapons which either broke in combat or were heavily outgunned/dated...
As for the whole "not offending Stalin" thing, the USSR had the best planes, tanks and infantry weapons of any faction at that point, the IS3 tank, the T44 tank, just to name 2 tanks...
MitchofSmeg 1 month ago

ViriathusVingathor 4 months ago

Fuck EU, germany, France and UK those bastards always mind their own buisnesses!
kashoob2123 4 months ago 5

Me and both my sisters were taught (admittedly vaguely) about Poland in World War 2 in school and none of the three of us knew Russia invaded Poland. Shocking. Thanks for the video, sir.
seandawson000 5 months ago 2
It was de facto if not actual policy in the UK and to a lesser extent the USA later on to avoid mentioning the Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939. UK Labour Party policy had the official line of supporting the USSR in any and all conflicts with Poland. This even extended to animosity toward Poles in the UK after the war. ...
OopshyDoo 1 month ago
He didn't. He attacked Soviet forces in USSR-occupied Poland.

bigrobcanuck 2 months ago
@McAmbrose14 "first to fall not to fight" dude, you can shut the hell up. they were the first to fight and they weren't even prepared for a war since they only had 20 years of a country to rebuild and improve their economy from after the 1st world war. they gained independence in 1919, but in 1920 had a war with Russia (but won YEY) but lost a load of soldiers, guns Armour and factories. 20 years later the war broke in 1939 when Germany attacked. the polish ally the Czechs betrayed Poland.
TheP4U111 2 weeks ago
