Actually, they meant to make a simplistic analysis of the movie; obviously, not every nuance of the plot directly correlates to Pres Bush. I would disagree with the assertion that Batman compromised his principles, considering since his alter ego's inception was based on a vigilante persona, which doesn't rely on cut and dry principles to begin with.

That's a very simplistic analysis of the Dark Knight. When Batman pushed the use of that unethical surveillance technology, his counsel, Lucius Fox, threatened to leave his cause. Joker's only real goal was to get Batman to compromise his principles, and, in a way, he succeeded. Of course he failed to get Batman to violate his one sacred rule of not taking a life. So the message is not as cut and dry as these two doofuses are making it out to be.

And even if it was every person who was being counted, then the republicans would have a higher electoral vote with such a small gap. The key thing to note about the Rendition and torture are that they produce catastrophic results for everyone. The Russian calls in the Joker after Lau's arrest. The torture of Maroni by Batman doesn't produce anything, the police officer gets more than he bargained for with The Joker and in the case of Batman, the Joker gives him inaccurate info. Concerning wiretapping, Batman doesn't eavesdrop on everyone, they use it to track the Joker's voice only, using it wisely.

If we can't do that, then movies to a large extent become redundant.
