don't put king crimson on iTunes, if you really gave a fuck about this band, you'd buy a physical album. Don't you dare disgrace these men and feed the hungry and greedy Apple.
pure awesomeness!!!!! psychedelic! we dnt get such music now a days.....there is smthing very special about this song...and the illustrations suit the music perfectly!!!! epicness!
i look at wayne barlowes art and my artististic e-penis shrivles completely. i have no desire to create or attempt to create art after seeing most of his. why even try? my work is so completely eclipsed to such a monolithic degree its simply a waste of my time. i would give up anything to have a talent that even remotely ressembles his.
Raw viewing of what perhaps subconsciously we are attuned to disregard. A truer view of the other side reminiscent of how society should be viewed. Thank You.
Art created with sticks and dirt. Prog Rock, a genre built on regressed tools and pomposity. Bach and Vivaldi offer the complete experience of ethereal wonder, and more efficiently too, as they and the orchestras they employed did it without electronic enhancement.
So at age 18 my friend and I were wandering around a town in middle-of-nowheresville New Mexico and we came across a used book store. I was looking through old novels and he comes up to me grinning from ear to ear.
At the very bottom of a stack of Vinyls he was looking through was an original Court of the Crimson King. The sleeve was beat-up, but that really just makes it look more awesome.
Awe inspiring absolute genius! I was entranced by the sheer beauty of the Music while the vivid imagery imparted by the Lyrics of King Crimson & Barlowe's awesome Art work transported me to a realm inhabited by denizens akin to Dante's vision of demons in the nether world. Bravo!
I remember receiving "Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials" as a kid in the 70's. Changed my life forever. Outstanding combination of music and art, this.
Oh, and bollocks to the person who gave this a thumbs down!
I remember receiving "Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials" as a kid in the 70's. Changed my life forever. Outstanding combination of music and art, this.
Also did not know who Barlowe was till I saw this video, and his work is both terrifying and thrilling, though I would not want to venture through his imagination.
An open letter to iTunes and King Crimson: Please put the discography of King Crimson on iTunes. All of us can agree that progressive rock is a marvelous genre and a gem in the crown of rock. So, to spread the glories of prog and KC to a new generation, we are requesting that you put King Crimson on iTunes. It's for the children. Thumbs up if you agree. (We apologize for the shortness of this letter - it would be longer but we are unfortunately confined for space.)
@mrreaderman if you allow me to answer ... I think ... say exactly, but unfortunately the children and younger generations tend to go against what he calls the Tunes, bad example, I am big fan of KC I can only say what they think is right, definitely!
ALL PEOPLE LET'S SING ..FOR THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (ENJOY THE MELODY) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
brings me back to a time of life when one didn't have the responsibilites of every day life knocking down your door and you could do things a bit more carefree...
Gosh! Thought I would never listen do Crimson again! I used to listen to his vinil "Lizard" when I was 30. Now I'm 68 and still love it. It was a great surprise to find it here. Tks.
Many of us in these times had visions of the horrors which we are entering Now...acid , mescaline, psylocybin put us ahead of the curve...I am sure you have your own ectasies....
kinda reminds me of movies like the black cauldron, lord of the rings, and other movies like that the artwork is so awesome and i really love this song cause i heard this on the movie children of men with clive owen awesome awesome everything about the song and artwork is so effin awesome!!!
Heard this song on the radio after watching Thor at the movie theatre with my dad and just needed to find it here on youtube it is so weird but so awesome!!
@Mygodtheastronaut : There are three Crimsons. 1) This, the psychadelic incarnation, 2) The heavy jazz version of the mid 70s with Bill Bruford on drums, and 3) the Math Rock 80s with Tony Levin and Adrian Belew. This song is a good representative of 1. For 2 listen to the record "Red," particularly the song "Starless." For 3 listen to "Discipline."
@Mygodtheastronaut check out " epitaph " ...if you like this song, then get real heavy and buy the album "Lizard"....or maybe you should start with the "wake of poseidon", Greg Lake on Vocals
i can do better than that. i could introduce this song with a better song, and follow it with a better one. all graphics are inferior. obviously inexperienced.
Yeah, I'm one of the ancients that was around when King Crimson released this, and I LOVED IT THEN... as I DO NOW, but wow... I always tried to imagine stuff with the music, but YOU'VE certainly come up with the art that I have no doubt the band would approve of... and so do I! Great job!
The images remind me of Lovecraft - At the mountains of madness, the village, shadow out of time, dreams in the witch house, et al. The first image REALLY looks like one of the creatures from At the mountains of madness with the points and the wings.
I am on a search for epic music such as this I have heard of none of these bands does anyone have any suggestions for music such as this that will blow my mind
The album 'Foxtrot' by Genesis has an epic piece of music on it by the title of 'Suppers Ready'. SR is 25 minutes long but has an awesome epic last few minutes conclusion where some people have described themselves as having almost a religious experience! Its definately uplifting if thats what you want. Enjoy
Try "Nights in White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon" by the Moody Blues - go for the extension version but the shorter ones are also good. That LP came out around 1970, and "The Court of the Crimson King was in 1969.
Totally Bizarre but ya got to love it.

@Goblinjimmscave
they said that it was just inspired by alot of middle age folklore, especially english folklore
the music sounded very surreal to me, Barlowe just takes me to another world with his art :)

@handofnergal Did you know that most of this artwork goes along with Barlowe's book "God's Demon"? Hence the surreal and dark nature.
