I get rather annoyed when considering that Scotland is sitting on more gas and oil than anywhere else in western europe, and yet folk have to live in such 'clinically deprived' conditions! Mind you, some areas of London are outrageous too. I was born in Easterhouse and now live in Sweden; but I shall always consider the Scots the salt of the earth! The Scots gov ought start spending the oil and gas revenues at home. Appreciate the vid.
Shithole aye, our shit hole, west end it isnt and proudly so, are you aware all your highlighting is your ignorance. Birthplace of the Botanical Gardens, raw materials for the Industrial Revolution, this video captures only the physical, hate it and love it in equal measures, 20 years out of it and still Vulij till a die. For aw the corner boys of the East End, we salute you
Great memories. Left Garrowhill for Toronto in 1953 but nearly everything looks the same. No trams though. They were great. Barrachnie Inn has remained unchanged. Thanks for this!
Always the poorest part of Glasgow but always the most generous and spirited. I'd get shot of those ugly 1960s tower blocks on the Gallowgate though, absolutely ugly. Good vid mate, you caught an area in transformation and once the 2014 Commonwealth games come some of these building will be gone.
Surprised Paul Eusabie barbers wasn`t on their. Is it still open? I havent lived in Glasgow for 17 years. Still love the place, its changed but still the same as well. Nice to see the Carmyle sign. Its only when you leave you realise how daft the Sectarian stuff is and what great people Glaswegians are. All the best to all Eastend Glaswegians, Bears and Tims alike.
@haroldbhoy67 Went to school with gary , Paul's wee brother, left the e.e. at 19 and nowe a committed atheist, couldn't agree with your comments any more, awra best
Since 1860 tens of thousands of Irish people have made the east end of glasgow their home. The Irish tricolour is part of it's identity. Great video mate and a couple of great songs to go with it.
@robertmclean85 royal wedding will cost economy 5billion and the taxpayer 20 million you could feed the entire continent of africa for one week with that money. i hope your proud william and kate
@FightTh3P0wer Great point! I simply needed to get out of the UK as the blatant use of poverty (by HM Gov) and the rewarding of criminal greed, made me so angry. Our UK industry has been sold, and we're now dependent upon the Square Mile banking revenues...that isn't an economy...that's a casino! Best wishes

Second one is Simple Minds - Someone Somewhere in Summertime but I guess you might have worked out the song title!
TonyBananas101 2 years ago
@superstarhero67 Blue Nile - Tinsletown in the Rain, adopted by many Glaswegians as their anthem. Simple Minds Someone Somewhere(in summertime)
