I have no problem with weed and growing it. But when people steal electricity to grow it, thats not right. PAY FOR YOUR OWN ELECTRICITY. if you use lights that use less energy, you wont run up your electric bill, so you wont have to worry about the electric company thinking you might be up to something. People who grow weed like this need to be a lot smarter!

I agree, grow lights simply don't use $3,000per month worth of electricity. Consider this: Street lights are equipped with the same type of halogen lamps that marijuana growers use. If these lamps used so much electricity, then you could just imagine how much your community's electrical bill would be. So who's telling the truth here? Certainly, not the reporters!
umm marijuana growers dont use halogen they use Metal Halide or High Pressure Sodium. Maybe a $1000 a month would been used $3000 is a little high. the street lights are 400 or 600 watt lights and are on less the 10 hours a days while the 1000 watt grow lights on 12 hours a days
At 18 hours my 1000 watt lamp (using the metal halide) only cost an extra $50.00 per month. So what. You are only using it for that one month, then switching to your' HPS. Assuming you are using a nice expensive switchable ballast, like mine. HPS burns cooler and only 12 hours.
