If someone is moving heavy or slow road vehicles: Is there a telephone by which they can find out if there is a train on the way? There are at British rail crossings.

I hope they threw the book at whoever was in charge of the construction vehicles. It was a lucky thing it was not across the tracks & de-railed the train.

@NJPurling defently not,when that train was coming through(west coast express commuter) he owned the rail,and those guys had cancelled their permit to work out there...no machine should have been close to that track...and I am pretty sure you can get a hold of someone locally,so that a guy can flag you through(he holds a permit to block all traffic) we flag all the time for slow equipment. Machine operator in the video still has his job.

In my case the core drilling rig our crew were working was cleared by inches by a VIA Rail passenger train just north of Toronto. A CN track crewman with us holding a monitoring radio took out his wrath on whoever was on the other end.

The sight of that train coming around the curve(similar to the video) is something I won't forget.

There is protection, and the Engineer more than likely got fired for it. At the start of the video look the the right of the tracks, a red board. Now 2 miles earlier there was a yellow/red board meaning stop at red board in two miles and contact employee in charge of trackgang. He failed to stop, got fired. Mow crew did nothing wrong here.
