SONAR 7 Masterclass Workflow

so whats the easiest way to import music to sonar from an external device via USB port?? After that, add,drums,and bass,ect using the step sequencer??? do i need to make a track template or something???  i cant get the bass to work on the step sequencer.

i just bought this sonar 7 home studio xl or something like that and i only want to add drums fiddle bass ect to a country blues kinda format. I think i may be in some trouble cuz this vid just really confused the hell out of me. im never going to get it like this.....

You get what you invest when it comes to full control music production. If you're looking for something that takes all the 'work' out it, look at something like Garageband, Acid or FL Studio.

I'm very much looking forward to fully comprehending the sonar environment. I, before watching this video, thought it to be cluttered and messy, mostly out of lack of education about it's logic and features. I'm very impressed with the quality of the plug-ins such as the vc64. I haven't heard a better software compressor yet, and I've heard many. I've found my daw of choice after much looking. Now all I need is a more powerful computer.

when you right click at the begin and then select ''Instert From Track Template'', at that point you got 7 choices to select a new thing, but i can choose between 6 things, and the thing that I mis, THATS the thing you select

That's a track template I created, the 7th choice is a folder I made called Robin.

Set your track the way you want it. Right click on it and select save as track template. Save it to an existing folder or create a new one. i created a new one. Then you can recall that template in SONAR by right clicking in the track view.

wich template did you select when you opend up a new file?? because if i begin you say there is totally nothing, but whatever template i select from the beginning, there is something in the file

It's my own template. Open a new file, delete all the tracks and save it as normal.tpl Then you will have a blank file everytime you start a new project.

hi there i have a question . am using sonar producer 7 i need to figure out how to monitor the overall levels of all the channels to prevent peaking i had a look around and the master channel is not going up or down during playback. am i mising something ?

Make sure that your tracks are routed to your master channel. You can turn on the in and out meters if you want (I don't normally) so that you can see the IB levels for your first bus to make sure that it isn't clipping before you apply any eq or effects on the bus. Instead, I tend to have a Level Check Bus in some cases that doesn't do anything but show the IB Level to the 1st bus. That way I don't have to bounce IB and OB levels on every bus, since once in a chain OB of one is IB of the next.

hey i have a question ..I have sonar 7 Producer edition . an everytime i put fx on my vocal it frezzes .. i save it an open it again an when i play it. it doesnt play it Just stops like an auto stop i wanna know how can it play .cause if it doesnt play how am i suppose to Mix .ill have to do it over an over ???

Is it all FX or just a particualr one? can you use the inline EQ? That's actually and effect. By freezes does teh audio engine drop out? If so you need to raise your latency from options|Audio.

hey, in order to get music into the PC, i need an audio interface, correct?, which one would u recommend for 2 vocals, 4 keyboards, 2 saxophones, and a 7 drum piece set?, Do i need a mixer in order to make the music clearer, and sharper sound?, or Is it in the Software already?, please get at me as soon as possible, thanks!

That's a lot of inputs. Will you record them at the sme tinme? You could use a UA-101 from Edirol or 2 of them if you need to record at once.

A mixer will not improve the sound by default, you would be better off using good recording techniques and the effects in SONAR

Make sure the dynamic button on the PCR is enabled. that should sort you out.
