as a native english speaker living in california, i'd like to offer a useful tip for chinese learning english: although it may take some time, i recommend learning how to use a dictionary and mastering english pronunciation. don't be sloppy about it. even though there are 26 letters in the english alphabet, there are 44 sounds that can be made in english. and of course if possible have a native speaker help you. otherwise foreigners will not understand you. take care! :-)
Reading and writing English is much easier than Chinese. On levels of difficulty, a website rates Chinese at 5 (most difficult category) and English at only 2 (easy). I think all Chinese Nobel Prize winners in physics, chemistry, and economics have written up their Nobel Prize winning research originally in English - for example C. N. Yang, Daniel Tsui, and recently Roger Tsien.
I learned the English basics in 2 years. My grammar is not really really good, but people can understand me ^^ It's only the vocabulary that makes it difficult.
yea is interesting to learn english...English is a univeral language but is not that easy... it take many year . i came to US when i was 14 of age...in school i didn learn much cuz i didn understand much... so i drop out of school...i learn my english most from on street n at home ...today im still learning
